    2 Days Post Op

    Stick with it!
  3. I had my one week post-op appointment today the doctor is pleased with my progress. I am down 8lb sense my surgery...came down to 320lb! I am now to start with my supplements and Vitamins but am supposed to stay on liquids for another week. I still have quite a bit of pain on my left side but that is normal I guess...there are some deep sutures that feel like they are pulling. If the pain does not get better in a few weeks they will open the site up under a local and re-suture....worst case. All in all things are going very well. On a side note we stopped at costco and found the Magic Bullet Blender kits on sale for $29.99. I have been looking at one for a while and at that price I couldn't pass it up.
  4. I had surgery 04-11-12 and now am home healing up.
  5. Damm...that was not pleasant. I was having some pudding and I guess I wasn't paying attention to how fast it was going down...note to self. Pay attention.
  6. Well, I am home and healing up now. All in all the procedure went well but I do have a difficult time with anesthesia. My stomach is a little numb to the touch and I only have pain in one incision location. It feels like the tissue is pulling against the stomach wall causing pain but it is tolerable. I am getting my liquids in and drinking around 8oz per hour to stay on track. My hospital stay was good up until the last day of stay...I Had a very difficult time with the nurse not responding to calls or delivering my meds on time. I called her on a lie in front of her supervisor and she did not respond to any calls the remainder of the day...basically just ignored me. I ended up having to walk the halls to track her down to get my pain meds 2hr after they were due...twice. They were supposed to give me pain meds prior to removing my drain and she failed to do so. Once the drain was removed she just walked out...about five minutes later liquid was pouring out of my drain site and my gound, pants and one piece of gause that she left me was soaked. I paged her and she failed to respond again. I finally walked to the nurses station to get a towel and some gause to clean myslef up where she was sitting there with here feet up saying how busy she was...I lost it then. I actually had to call my doctor to let him know I was not getting any care so he decided to have them kick me home. On the prep fro the trip home I asked her to call my pharmacy to make sure they could fill my prescription due to the narcotic not being able to be filled. She came back stating it was all good and they would fill it when I arrived. Well after the 2hr drive home the pharmacist stated he told the nurse on the phone they absolutely could not fill the script and he called around town and nobody had the med and could not get it for over a week...I hate being lied to. I will be discussing this level of care with my program director next week...it was just unexcusable. The day of the surgery my wife decided to go to lunch after I was settled in my room and got in a wreck in my brand new truck...she is fine....for now. I know she feels worse about the whole thing than I do. I am home and healing fine, already going stir crazy with cabin fever though...more to come.
  7. This has been seven years in the making and I am VERY ready for early Wednesday morning....like a kid at Christmas.
  8. I had a 6 month medically supervised diet and exercise program I had to do prior to being able to apply to the insurance company. My health coach(who worked for the insurance company) said the first weigh in set the bar and as long as I show I was maintaining and or loosing I should be ok. I ended up loosing some weight and when the 6 months was up the paperwork only took two days for the insurance company to approve. My surgery date is on the 11th...good luck.
  9. I took two weeks off but being that my surgery is on a Wednesday I will actually have close to 20 days off counting weekends before I plan to return. That is the longest I have been off of work for any reason.
  10. My highest was last summer at 370. Started my 6months of monitored diet and exercise and was at 348 at the end. I started the pre-op liquid diet then and just weighed in this morning at 338....so 32lb so far. My surgery date is the 11th.
  11. Congrats. My surgery date is 04-11-12 and I am well in the liquid diet now. The first few days were rough but now it is not so bad. I am very ready.
