What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
Cool, I'll pick some up. Did you use Cherry Koolaid for the cherry syntrax? Or did you invent flavors?

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
vamp...I tried the twisted cherry and oh lord the after taste turned me off. Do you add anything to yours to not have that after taste? ....if you mix it really cold does it help? I had mine cold but, not with crushed ice or anything. Maybe I need to try that. I was thinking of adding some koolaid (without the sugar) to it to see if it would help. Suggestions? Now the Syntrex Mint cookie...I loved it and the pure Protein chocolate love that one too. I've been using the Capella flavorings too and it's great to add the coconut and toasted almond to the chocolate shake. Yumm

Surgery Set Up For 5/21 Thinking Of Backing Out
John....when I saw the therapist just last week she told me they're acutally thinking of offering bypass to diabetes patients because it's been so successful in helping with the disease. So folks who don't necessarily have to lose weight may also be getting the surgery to cure their diabetes. She said it's because of the re-routing that's done, it helps keep the sugar spikes and lows more even. CAn't explain it like she did. I don't have diabetes but, we talk about the surgery and she happened to mention it. I thought that tid bit was quite interesting. It also made me realize if they're going to offer the surgery to folks who don't need to lose weight then it's safer than it used to be.

JenniferD - I had the lapband put in Feb 2006, had it revised Dec 2008 then ultimately removed after a really bad prolasp Jan 2010. The first year was wonderful, I lost over 80 pounds and kept it off for about 6 months until the first slip happened. I had it revised and the doc put in a bigger band and after that it was a few years of heck for me. fills, unfills, fills and then unfill. Many, many nights of not being able to sleep because the reflux was so bad that I'd wake up feeling like I was drowning. Still, if it had stayed for me like the first year I would have kept going. Not everyone has slips but, unfortnately a high percentage do end up with issues such as reflux and weight gain again. The bad foods go through the band better than healthy so when you're suffering with all of I mentioned you eat those things to get something down. What I didn't know was that 90% of folks who have had a revision of the lapband to another band or to correct that band end up with it being removed. Had I known i wouldn't have bothered with the revision. Now...that's just my story and many many folks love their bands. One of my best friends still does well with hers, doesn't feel sick etc but, she'll be the first to admit she eats around it and hasn't lost weight in a while. I did the band because I was afraid of the re-routing of organs etc that bypass has to go through but, now for me.....rny is the what I need to do. Alot has changed since 2006 and it's become even safer so I'm more comfortable with it. I've had many friends do very very well with it. I"ve done lots of research and now am comfortable heading in that direction. I do wish you the best with your decision...definitely talk to all your docs about your situation. We're all different and just because some had issues with any of the bariatric choices doesn't mean you will

Kinda Sorta Gotta Date! (I Think)
congrats on a date. I guess it could go either way about telling folks or not. You have to base your decision on who's going to be supportive or not the best you can. Good luck!

Surgery Set Up For 5/21 Thinking Of Backing Out
Hi John, I haven't received a date yet for my surgery but, I did have Lapband surgery and went through the same thing. Everyone thinks they know what's best but, you know only YOU can make that decision. Think about the reasons why you're thinking about the surgery and why you started this journey in the first place. With any surgery..heck with anything we do with our bodies there are risks. It's whether those risks out-weigh the risk of being obese. If you have too many doubts within yourself, not taking into account what others who haven't had the surgery but, within yourself then maybe you should post pone it so you're comfortable. You don't want to go into anything not having your whole heart behind it. Are you scared and nervous.....sure you have to be. Heck this is no light surgery and if you weren't a little scared or nervous then I would say there is something wrong! I don't have a date and I'm nervous but, I really...REALLY...don't want to keep up with this weight and then some because I'm sure I'd gain more. I already have enough aches and pains that make me stop in my tracks. I want to be able to go places and do things as I get older...I want to retire and actually be able to do things I can't do during my working years. Anywho......people mean well but, heck we've all heard horror stories and if you did your studying and researching for your surgery you saw and read stuff too. The risk is much, much less now than it was even four years ago. They've improved their techniques etc. So think hard and deep....maybe a pro/con list for yourself and take it from there. Heck even call the surgeon, therapist or your bariatric center's help desk and let them know your feelings. I can bet they'd offer help Good luck with whatever decision you make just make sure its the best one for you

Feeling Of Food Sitting In Throat?
I had read somewhere that when the dialation is needed it sometimes takes 3 visits for it to stick. Mainly because your organs are elasticy so they bounce back. Thats why it takes a few times stretching it for it to take. Good luck...I hope you both are feeling better!

40's New Beginnings
Hello Panda and Txs, They say it's basically natural for us to worry about not losing weight after going through this...mainly because all other diets have failed but, my surgeon says they've yet to have folks not lose with it. Our bodies do rebell though...so just keep eating the way your nutritionist told you, take your Vitamins, get your Water in and do the exercise and the scale will budge. I haven't had the surgery yet...but working on it. I"m thinking I may end up with surgery in June depends on how long it takes for the paper work.

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
Hello Vamp, I got the Twisted Cherry and Fuzzy Navel. Haven't tried them yet though. I also use Cappella flavor drops that are sugar free. I love the toasted almond and coconut in my chocolate shake. I used the snickerdoodle in the vanilla shake.....didn't like that as much. I find vanilla shakes I can taste the Protein powder more. Next try will be the PB2 mixed in with it to see if that helps cut the taste. Have you tried that? blankmama, I bought my sytrax nectars from Amazon. Oh and does anyone use the Calcet Citrate Chews? I just ordered some of them online too. I like the chocolate...going to try the lemon. CAn't find them in the stores so had to go online.

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
I just picked up two containers of Syntrax Nectar...hoping they'll be good for a fruity flavored protein. I don't want all chocolate so need to mix it up. I also bought the unflavored in hopes to mix it with chicken broth or other foods like oatmeal, cream of wheat etc when it's allowed.

Negative People
I just tell them I know me and my body better than anyone possible could and this is the right decision for me. I've taken a long time to come to this decision with lots of hours of research behind it. Thank you for your concern but, this is best for me.

Hi All 1 Month Out
Are you eating at regular intervals? I was told today that it's really important to spread it out and get in all the Protein and 64 oz of Fluid each day. Are you meeting the eating requirements provided by your nutritionist? Sometimes are bodies rebel for a while but, stick with the plan and the scale will start moving again.
