I wanted to post an update. I was three months last Thursday and have lost 50 lbs!! i haven't felt this great in many, many years. I also had the best vacation in 24+ years with my family a week before that. I have never had so much energy. I am able to increase my exercise, am sleeping better, got all good numbers on my blood work and moving down on my insulin every week and I could go on and on. It is FABULOUS!!! I have a new lease on life!!!

    Linda,
I hear you re walking without pain. I am a newbie (today is Day Eleven post-op), but I've lost 25 pounds to date.
This morning, I was walking (without pain, shockingly!) and realized when I'm through with this I'll be carrying ... 60 FEWER POUNDS!
I can hardly imagine what walking while carrying 60 fewer pounds will feel like. I might be able to fly! To soar over the ground never touching it!
This will be the biggest WLS miracle of all. To move my body rapidly without pain or restrictions. For me, it's the ultimate benefit of this whole shebang.

Wishing all of you the best for future surgery and post surgery. Life is so good after the sleeve. I have more new clothes than I have had in 10 years, and I love getting dressed up and going out. I love my husband telling me every day how good I look. I honestly had one bathing suit, black, for 20 years (barely worn). Now I have 20 new swimsuits and loving them all. I can tell you I am a great bargain shopper because I can walk without pain in the mall now. I also do not gasp for breath, and do not need the asthma inhalers now.

SO happy to hear you are getting your surgery. I had my three month anniversary on Thursday and have lost 50 lbs. I saw my surgeon yesterday and my PC today and both are thrilled with my progress and especially how my health has improved. All of my blood work was normal!!! And the Dr. today said she is going to move the decrease of my insulin along quicker. Instead of going down one unit at a time, we are going to start going down two units. I was taking four injections for a total of 106 units per day and am down to one injection of 19 soon to be 17!! I could not be happier and you will love your sleeve too!
the best decision of my life after marrying my husband of 44 years! I am 65 soon to be 66 and you will not regret this.

    Hey @Sandstress ... I'm out of the hospital. And I didn't die.
    ROFLMAO!
Went in at 6:30 am Monday morning (was #2 on the lineup) and left the hospital at 4:00 pm Tuesday afternoon. Surgery was easier to deal with than I'd imagined. I didn't flip out. I thought the surgical team, surgery recovery team, and nursing teams were fantastic.
Doc said he wished everyone's liver looked like mine. (So proud!)
Day Two post-op (Tuesday) at home was bit of what I imagine a standard VSG post-op W? T? F?!!! day was like. I also napped and napped and napped. But I was surprised at how well I could sip Water and sip Soup and slurp yogurt.
However, today was a much easier day emotionally. And I'm sipping and eating even better today. And I haven't needed to nap at all. I feel pretty good for having had 80% or however much it was of my stomach made redundant.
I know this dealio will have ups and downs. But I'm already sort of (ahem) jazzed!
    (I'll probably collapse tomorrow. )

No more diabeetus medications. My sugar levels always hover around 90 now. Before I went through the program they were out of control on two different medications.
Being able to shop at the normal stores instead of the plus sized stores or online only. It's so nice to pick up a shirt in a store and try it on.
Being able to complete the Body Works plus Abs class at my gym. I'm not the thinnest person in it but I can do the entire thing!

Glad I'm not alone, which you feel like when other people have dropped 40 pounds or more and they drop weight daily! I was sleeved 7/24 and down 20 since surgery. Feel like I'm losing at a snails pace, lol. HW 295, dropped 7 in the week before surgery. Sleeved at 288 and 268 now. Been holding at the 268 since Sunday so it appears I'm in another stall. Think I need to take the advice of hiding the scale.

    1. Optimistic for the future - It was too easy before to see a future of struggles and to think why bother. Truly happy now.
    2. New hobbies - New found fitness has brought on new hobbies. They bring a lot to my life.
    3. Energy - it's so much better having energy to do the things I want to do. Before I would need a nap at every available opportunity.

some people are just so bizarre.. my friend's dad finally had knee replacement surgery... he was down to bone on bone. so he didnt listen to the doc about aftercare and was in lots of pain, my friends say, "the doc said you shouldnt be on your feet at all except to go to the bathroom!" he rolls his eyes and says "what, do you think i'm a pushover?" apparently for some its some sort of game to see how much they can defy the doctor and not die. or something. like he's winning if he doesnt follow his aftercare plan... i dont get it. but whatever.

Well said. One time there was a thread about that very thing.........someone was looking for justification for a damaging behavior, and they called those of us who are doing our best to maintain compliance "Goody Two Shoes". Whatever. Let's just do our best to attain good health.

I see patients everyday in clinics throughout NJ....there are patients who take things soberly and to heart, a real pleasure to work with., and then there are people who will come up with every possible rationalization under the sun thinking they can get away with something, at least in their minds....but in reality they are fooling no one but themselves...
I see that behavior everyday on this forum...people just searching for excuses to do something they know they shouldn't, or after consistently doing things and then look for people to tell them it's going to be OK....
How many posts are there concerning Alcohol or pizza??? WHAT does YOUR Dr. say??? Those are 2 that jump immediately to mind...
After a few years you see a trend with this, and unfortunately when a Newbie asks a question they get hit between the eyes as though they were the ones asking the same question time after time.

    1) I feel great. I am able to hike, bike, kickbox and Zumba for hours without losing steam. I can keep up with my kids' activities without sweating excessively or feeling like crap the next day.

    2) I can shop in any store. I look great in size 6/8 bottoms and medium tops. Taking my girls back to school shopping was more fun than ever because we could all try things on. Shopping has never been so much fun.

    3) Skinny sex. No further explanation needed.
