  1. It's probably a food funeral for you. After surgery you may never get to eat ice cream again (depending on if you dump and what you dump on), your subconscious knows this so you're being bothered by it. Hang in there!
  2. 11 days post op and I feel like actual hunger is starting. I hear it can happen before you go on more dense diet. Head hunger is here full swing. No pain meds in over 24 hours, can't wait until Thursday when I'll be able to taste something more than broth, Popsicles, and creamy soups.
  3. Good luck and speedy recovery to the two ladies having surgery today! Layknee, your daughter is too cute!
  4. Also wanted to add that my level of pain probably has more to do with removal of the band and scar tissue than it does for the actual bypass.
  5. 10 days post op and nearly no pain. I haven't used any pain meds today, or muscle relaxants. Got all my required protein in already thanks to gene pro. Tried it in tomato soup, nope not going to work. Seems juice is the best way for me to take it for now until I can put it in something.
  6. So update. My nausea has improved very well. It is very slight if even there at all. I'm getting my fluids in and keeping to program. Thanks for the encouragement.
  7. You should go to the veterans forum. I have a friend who is 5 years out and hasn't had not a single complication.
  8. How are you feeling now Kimteehee? I'm hoping you are doing a bit better.
  9. I'm not as educated as you all (CNA here) just wanted to put out one word of advice. Don't try to do it all by yourself right off bat. We tend to do that in this profession because people are always looking for help and we are the ones to help them. Good luck on Surgery later today! Congrats!
  10. Walkin you're not the only one. If I try hard enough I can get in 64oz of water plus my protein and meals. I just hate drinking water. Even sipping I can finish my liquid meal in 20 minutes. I don't gulp N water but can take more than 1 sip at a time.
  11. Thanks for this. I had surgery 10/2/14 so I am exactly a year after you. I hope to do as well as you have!
  12. They would give you bottoms if wanted. I just don't see a reason to bring your own when you will be extremely bloated and in pain. Plus they will be getting blood, changing lines, looking at incisions frequently (at least every 4 hours) and giving blood thinning injections. Plus you don't want hospital germs on more of your things than necessary ( sorry this is my CNA talking). So no change in how I'm feeling now than I was when I took the protein in the beginning. If tomorrow goes well, this will.be my new protein. I feel just fine. If my incisions would stop hurting, I'd be one happy camper. I took pain meds twice today but I did go for quite a walk today too.
  13. So a mini update on my protein issue. I ordered Bene pro and had it overnighted to me. I just tried it 20 minutes ago. When they say it is tasteless, it literally is. I mixed it with 4 oz of apple juice. I would note that it probably needs a little more liquid and mix it with a fork. All it did was make the apple juice cloudy. It did not change the taste or texture for that matter at all. So far so good, no bloat, no nausea. Feeling really full however I also took my pills right after. I will update more if anything happens to change. If not, then I just found my protein!
  14. Oh my Dc0520, are you alright? It sure must have been scary. Hang in there.
  15. I've haven't experienced the sleeve but I did just revise to bypass. I would look in the band to bypass section. I believe there are some member who have had all 3 surgeries.
  16. I just got revised a week ago. I did have to start all over. Had to have all tests redone, had to have NUT appointments, weight loss, psych eval. It is very frustrating. Hopefully it all works out for you.
  17. I guess so Beni, dire needs only though, lol! I do fine sipping. My incisions are still freakin sore which makes bending over impossible, which also makes changing a diaper impossible too. I find that I'm able to get up easier, faster now. As soon as the incision pain leaves me I will be as good as ever. I still sometimes think , what did I do to myself. Matter of fact 4 days post op was a very bad day for me. Gas pains, nausea, general pain, I cried, hard. My husband was mad at me because I wasn't relying on him like I was supposed to. Remember to utilize all the help you can get, we are amazing but not superhuman.
  18. I never really had too much rest since I have little ones. My husband couldn't stay home for more than a couple of days so I have to take care of them during the day still. I am just a bit sore, I only took pain meds an hour ago and have been off most of it all day. I'm solely relying on the muscle relaxant right now. We have no food in the house so we had to go out and get something. I'm just a busy body I guess, lol.
  19. Hello Lashante23, I'm the same age as you but instead of 1 child I have 3. Their ages are 7,4, and 16 months. I weighed 250 before my surgery. My last straw: my knees started to hurt, walking, running, it didn't matter. Plus my mom who was heavy her whole life started losing massive weight and has lost a good 70lbs, but it took a massive heart attack to get her to this point. I don't want to have that happen to me before I do something about it. Good luck on your journey. I'm 1 week post op today.
  20. Beni, I survived a meal out with my family!!! They ate DQ, I was sitting right next to chicken strips (my favorite from there), burgers and fries. I did leave the house knowing we were going to fast food and I had some soup beforehand and sipped my flavored water while there.
  21. I used 3 different ones. Still the same. The taste is off for me. I used lean 25 from GNC, Nectar, and a special K one. They leave me bloated, extremely nauseated, and in pain. I'm going to try this genepro I read in here and see if that helps. It's supposed to be 30g protein in 15g serving and can be dissolved in cold and hot foods, liquids, is unflavored. I'm really hoping it works out for me.
  22. I'm doing better today than previous days. A lot less nausea, but I can't choke down my protein shakes. I used to be able to tolerate them before hand. I just purchased gene pro with rush shipping (next day) because I get extreme nausea with the protein drinks and I can't not take them. One note to go buy, practice how you're going to pick things up off the floor, while I'm having a lot less pain (no pain meds at all today) it still smarts to bend over. My suggestion, learn how to get up and down knees or buy a helping device to help pick up things. I'm getting in at least 4 oz of water but I really need to get my 64oz in. I think I will make it today. Days 9 post o0. I weighed yesterday and from that weight I'm down 6 pounds at least(I haven't weighed today.) I'm sorry to hear about you parent Bariactricman.
  23. Oh and I'm 1 week post op.
  24. Those who have used it, have you had labs drawn afterwards? Were your levels good? I'm not able to tolerate the protein shakes, its making me extremely nauseous. I just purchased this and hoping I'm not doing myself more harm by using this instead of trying to choke down the others.
  25. I don't think we will be able to tolerate bread. I think it'd have to be an amazing salad for you ma'am.
