    Easter Weight Loss Challenge

166 current 159 goal Thank you for managing this challenge again!
  5. After WLS I was always cold, layers of clothing and heated seat and steering wheel on in the car no summer, winter and fall ( umm its Canada eh!). Now I appear to be in menopause and wow would I love to be cold again...just sayin'
  6. I brought a book, my iPad, my iPod, cream, slippers and pjs. What I used actually used.....my slippers. Day one I was completely out of it and slept, showered and walked with the OT on the ward. Day two I showered, walked with OT and was discharged by 2pm. So for me it wasn't necessary to bring anything else. However, I wasn't in the hospital for long and it was in my local hospital so I didn't need to travel either
  7. Re the exhaustion - I found for me personally on the days I did not get my protein in and my water, I felt very tired and lethargic. As soon as I upped my protein intake again and or the water I immediately felt better. If that doesn't work though make sure to discuss with your doctor
  8. @406sleever. The one thing I would do differently was to not stock up on too much. My taste buds went crazy and things I used to like I could not stand the taste of. I had bought lots of sugar free fat free puddings, Syntrax Protein drinks, (all different kinds of flavours) only to find out I could not stand them after surgery. So moderation. It's really not that long before you are mobile enough to get to a store. By my bed I kept my large container of Water measured out. That way I knew how much I had to get in at a minimum for the day. Then I used the small Dixie cups to sip from and made myself sip through one every 15 min. This worked out to getting my full 2 litres (approx 8 cups) in by the end of the day. I really didn't keep much by my side as I want to make a point of getting up and walking to get things as much as possible. I did keep milk, juice, broth and Protein Drinks available but to be honest everything tasted so sweet to me that I couldn't stomach much those first few days. Once I started feeling up to heading out to the store I would go and pick out a few new items to try if my things weren't working out. Tried sugar free fat free pudding, Greek yogurt (plain sugar free) once I moved to soft foods...7-10 days out ( I actually don't remember the exact time frame from Clear liquids to the next stage). All the best and welcome to the losers bench
  9. You are awesome @vsgSarah3. Thank you all your work tracking and coordinating these challenges!
  10. Absolutely, this surgery as resulted in a much more controlled and lessened back pain. I have degenerative arthritis through out my spine, spondylolithesis in l4/l5, narrowed spinal column. I was taking heavy duty pain meds before and had problems, walking, sitting and sleeping. Almost two years out, down almost 90 lbs and rarely take any pain meds, do yoga, Pilates, barre and some running (read minor) and have virtually minimal pain anymore. Best thing I have ever done for myself. I feel better emotionally and physically.
  11. I love the look and feel of the revised app on my ipad, Haven't played too much so far so great!

    Sriracha sauce!

@@CowgirlJane I know what you mean. I loved loved loved hot spicy foods before and now, my poor wee tummy can't take it any more. It's kind of sad. However, I used to also have a major addiction to ketchup too and.... My wee tummy can't stand ketchup anymore either.

@@LipstickLady my sentiments exactly. There is no way that this fellow will ever know what it feels like to have carried around excess weight for decades (in some cases - including mine). Feel the damage that has been done to our bodies and then turn around and jump in to exercise 3-4 hrs a day right off the bat with out suffering any joint, back and mind issues. He's never had to deal with body shaming, bullying and self deprecating internal mind sh*t. This show is as bad as biggest loser in my eyes. It's doing far more harm than good
  17. I will be out two years from surgery this may and have lost 79 lbs. with about 15 lbs to go. My first year out I had very saggy skin on my legs, belly and arms. But things have drastically slowed, and my skin appears to be tighter. Now, not 25 yr old tight but really quite acceptable. I was convinced I would need a tummy tuck etc, but now my boobs are fine, my tummy is decent, my arms and legs have lose skin but in watching skin tight I think I look better than some of these people do after their plastics. This last 15 might make things worse. We'll have to see but overall. I wouldn't worry about it until your are at least a year out from surgery and get to see what your body has done for itself. I am 51 yrs old thought and am not as self conscious anymore but do feel I look pretty darn good now. I'm the short one
