  1. I wasn't allowed even a drink of Water until after my leak test (24hrs. after surgery). I was then given water, hot tea, and broth. I was allowed puréed at 2 weeks out.
  2. You look fantastic!! Congrats
  3. Every program is different, so I don't know. I had to have a bunch of blood work done on my Pre Op day, and a breathing test (even though I already had one done two weeks prior).
  4. My husband, a good couple friends of ours and I are planning a cruise. We have it booked for May 2015. Im sure am hoping I will have reached my goal by then lol Im not sure what Ill do the day it actually happens though. Maybe schedule a massage and a brazilian waxing (always wanted one lol) ? I've been fat my entire life, and haven't been at 170 since I was in 4th grade. Maybe 3rd grade. I hit 200 in 5th grade and never looked back. I can barely wrap my head around being thin, so who honestly knows what will happen. It's awesome you are close to goal. I hope you find a perfect way to Celebrate such a tremendous achievement
  5. Have some cake birthday lady I enjoyed a small sliver at my sisters bday party last weekend. The difference...the cake ended up coming home with us, and I didn't even consider or want another piece. My husband and son polished off the rest. It was even my favorite type of cake! (yellow with chocolate frosting) Happy Birthday!
  6. Magnesium= absolutely no fun! Best of luck tomorrow!
  7. Awesome! I bet you are on cloud 9 today Congrats!!
  8. Just got done doing 39 laps today. That's 1 mile and 6 laps Im right in schedule. It was a very victorious day for me as I got my a** to the gym in spite of it being a cold Monday, forgetting my ear plugs, and having to put on a suit of icicles (literally!! I left my bag in the car and it was only 29 degrees this morning). All of those would be reasons I backed out of my workout pre sleeve. Yay Me! Ready.Set.Swim
  9. Hi Im 5'4 as well. My surgeon set a goal of 140. I however have no intention of keeping that goal. I may attempt to get down that low. My original goal is 170. I then plan to try and lose in 10lb. increments and see how comfortable I am at maintaining each weight. When Im comfy with my eating/exercise to maintain that weight, Im good.
  10. Good luck to all of you! Im 7.5 weeks out, and already can't believe Im almost 2 mos. out. The first month was hell for me, but now Im back to work, working out, eating more normal and absolutely loving life. I played today with my nieces, nephews, and son in the pool chasing them for hours and I wasn't tired. You guys made the right choice, and you're all on your way to a new
  11. No, I have too big of a head and too much hair lol I use expensive chlorine remover shampoo and an expensive conditioner. My hair stylist has me wet my hair and put a little conditioner in my hair before I get in the pool and also I do a home olive oil treatment weekly on my hair (I also don't color my hair). It's worth it because I have bad ankles and the pool lets me work as hard as I want, and Im still able to walk afterwards lol
  12. I didn't get any workout swimming in this weekend, but I didn't plan on it. I did take my nieces, nephew, and son to the pool today, and I chased then around the pool for a few hours. I actually felt guilty because I never did that for my son when he was younger I swam on Friday and had a fantastic swim, doing a mile plus 4-8 laps (can't wait until my lap counter arrives!!). 33 laps is a mile so Im really happy with my progress. The kicker...Im looking forward to Monday morning to get my swim on! Ready.Set.Swim.
  13. I tried some pretzels about a week ago. I was horrified with how fast and much I are without feeling the slightest bit full. I only gave myself 1 serving, but I could have probably eaten the entire bag if I were following old habits of mindless eating. They are definitely a slider! Crackers, popcorn, chips...processed snack foods in general from what I've heard are sliders.
  14. While I 100% agree that I think normal junk foods are ok in moderation, my understand is that as time passes we can eat more. If we develop a habit of saying "I can eat this because I can only eat 3 bites", in a year or 2 we will be in a world of trouble because those 3 bites are now 15 bites. So, yea Im a little bit if a food rebel (compared to some on here), but I have worked with my NUT a lot. She isn't as concerned about me counting carbs for the day. She has said "if you are staying within your calorie range, getting in your protein, and following the plate rule then you are as gold" but I still primarily stick to lean proteins and veggies 80-90% of the time.
  15. You can talk with a NUT about how to overcome this. The one thing my NUT had me do was take carnation dry milk flakes and add it my soup. That helped get my protein levels up. I don't think you should give up though without talking to a NUT. There are so many different variances in program diets. Some even allow you to start eating right away! I hope you can find an answer.
  16. I've lost 34lbs. in 7 weeks and 12lbs. Pre surgery. I wish it was a little faster, but I had some issues with getting protein and fluids in..That will also hamper weight loss.
  17. Yeah, I play on my phone or read a lot when eating alone. It does help IMO. I am only allowed to eat for 30 minutes, but distracting myself helps me not eat too fast
  18. Not anymore. It stopped about about week 5 for me (although I had a day like that not too long ago). One thing that helped...I was having a slight allergy issue. I take Mucinex now because I found part of the nausea was from drainage from my sinuses. It was sliding down the back of my throat and into my sleeve, making it feel yucky all the time. Also, protein shakes don't sit well with me so I cut them out (nut approved) And lastly, if I miss taking my Proton Pump Inhibitor, I get nausea. Hope you find the culprit ASAP
  19. I was always freezing Pre sleeve, and have noticed its still the same. Only now, it takes a LOT more to warm me up. :/ Not looking forward to winter ::shiver:: A hot steamy shower sounds delightful about now.
  20. I had weight come off at 10 days post op, then stalled a week and a 1/2 later. That lasted a good 2 weeks (maybe lost 1lb.) Im now 7 weeks out and lost 2 lbs. since yesterday. This weight loss happens like a staircase. You will drop, then flatten out, then drop, then flatten out. Be patient, stick to your surgeon/nut advice and walk walk walk. Hope this helps
  21. Dumping isn't usually a term used for sleeves. Alrhough, I guess some people get it? I haven't had a problem with anything yet (had a sliver of birthday cake to tonight, no problem).
  22. It was my PPI...I refilled my weekly pill box and I had forgotten to put it in my box, so that explains a lot. As far as the McDonalds...the egg white delight is one of 2 things I get from there. I get it after my swim before work. It has never made me sick, and I was loosing weight Pre sleeve eating it. My NUT told me that and the Sweet N Spicy Grilled Chicken McWrap was fine to get. Im not anti fast food. I just know that there is only 1 or 2 things I can get from each place. No fries, no pop, no fancy coffees either
