Susan_B reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Protein pills.....
The unfortunate reality is that those Protein Shots are no be benefit to the human body. They get most of their protein from gelatin/collagen which our bodied cannot utilize. Yes, I know the name on the shot leads you to believe that you are getting whey protein, but unfortunately this is not the case.
Make sure to read the ingredients on the label. The best protein supplements will be pure whey isolate. Also egg whites, hemp, soy, & milk Proteins are good too. But if the label contains the words collagen or Gelatin, don't buy it. A it is capable of doing is separating you from your money.

I have never seen Protein pills. The main reason that they have historically been unavailable is because of the sheer volume of Protein needed by our bodies. To get 30 grams of protein through capsules you need 7-10 "horse pills". You think choking down a Protein Drink is hard? This would be next to impossible.
Furthermore, keep in mind that all Proteins are not created equal. There are a number of Protein drinks & shots out there that are of zero nutritional benefit.

I just came to this thread to post the same question.
I'm hoping it isn't something more serious and is just dehydration. But, as I have posted so many times, you can end up in the emergency room due to lack of liquids, so make sure you meet those requirements before all else.
    However long post-op ... doesn't matter. DRINK!

You said trying to get in fluids are you unable? also are you unable to eat something ? you stated, you aren't diabetic but maybe you have low blood sugars since you haven't eaten since the morning. It looks like it's almost been 24hrs since you took that pill, I would try to push some liquids and eat something and see how you feel. Just a suggestion, keep us posted

During the first few weeks after surgery I used to barely make it from the bedroom to the kitchen without having to sit down as I felt 'wonky'. I think it was my body going into some sort of protest stall lol Anyhow, I
decided to push my limits and walked a little further each day until I felt normal. I also got myself a personal trainer who got me using weights. That pushed my body into feasting on fat rather than than turning my energy off and stalling.

I'm still pre-op, but I have 3 weeks to go so I'm already doing shakes and experimenting with what works best.
So far, I've got almond milk, Protein powder, PB2, fat free greek yogurt. This morning was the first time I added the greek yogurt and my shake was great. You might want to try the yogurt.

Almost 9 weeks out now I bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker (recommended on a forum here) and am experiencing a new found anticipation for my Protein Shakes in ice cream form. 10-20 minutes of churning and they are ready for me to eat with a spoon. Yum! Then again, perhaps it's living in south Texas that really makes me crave colder things much of the year.

I blended mine with ice right away. When I graduated to full liquids I added unsweetened almond milk to my icy blend.
The ice allowed me to safely "chew" which helped my head hunger.

Thank you for your kind words. I was much in the same boat my whole life. I would lose then regain it back plus what seemed like 100 times over throughout the years. I do agree that the limited stomach capacity is a big help and the lack of constantly being hungry has been great.

I understand the fear of failure given I have lost weight many times and regained it. I am doing a few things different this time - I have very limited capacity in how much I can eat, I no longer have the rampant ongoing appetite, I too am working with a personal trainer to help the body adjust, and I have organized a few sessions with a Psychologist who has helped me through many life/health crisis's (spelling??). I'm also trying to stay more 'here and now' focused instead of loosing myself in future land. I'm not interested in giving myself a hard time about my previous failures - life is far too short. Good luck with your journey and I can only encourage you to focus on the positive.

Ummm, the sleeve does not fix our brains and our minds, and we ALL need fixing them... I certainly do! Bottom line, do not give up or let your brain (my evil brain is "Skippy") convince you to slack off... and also consider counseling. This is not easy and it is forever. (So what if it takes "forever" to lose weight. You have the rest of your life, right?)
Hang in there, you sound like me, only I was fatter and am Older. (not wiser, though)

I have coffee everyday, even after surgery I did Decaf for awhile. Now 5 months later I'm on the good stuff. I think it's mostly because they worry about you dehydrating. I never drink soda anymore. Just Water with Protein, Skim Milk and Coffee with my sugar free Creamer. I've not had any issues at all.

Wellll...... My surgeon no more coffee EVER!!
So yeah I'm drinking my second cup for the day right now as I write this
I had to rebel on at least one thing geesh!!
I'm a black coffee girl. But after surgery it was the one thing that didn't taste the same.. So for months ( I didn't take it up again for two months after) I just had a bit and I had to put milk and stevia in it. Now I'm back to black for the most part depending on the day.
Oh and I now buy my Beans half and half (reg and decaf)
I also must say I have a sleeve of steel not everyone will be so "lucky"
