  1. That is great news! I was actually planning on doing the same thing. How much or how many sizes have you lost to where you can't take in anymore?
  2. You're doing self pay? Is your insurance is paying for the upper GI and EKG's? I am hoping since I am scheduling after the holiday I will be done with all the holiday food hoopla. I can manage a night in for new years eve. Good luck with your recovery. Hopefully this one will be a little easier for you. I have never had a surgery so I don't know how my recovery will be. I bounced back after the birth of my son. I was walking around everywhere three days out. Hoping for the same. We can be December sleeve buddies!!!
  3. December seems so far away! I haven't been approved yet but, I am hoping since my last weigh in is December 5th my insurance will approve it in time for me to be sleeved by the end of December. Anyone one else out there not yet approved and hoping for a December sleeve? I see quite a few people already have their December date. How did your date get scheduled out so far in advance? My Dr. probably won't even try to schedule me until my insurance gives the OK.
  4. I am four months into my six month requirement and this is NOT easy. The protein shakes are fine, the drinking water is fine but, it's the not knowing if I will be approved that is the nerve wrecker. The insurance makes you go through all these humps and loops and in the end it's in their hands. I wish they would give you a pre-approval and surgery date so it's gives you something to look forward at the end of this circus act. The not knowing is the hardest part. All I want for Christmas is the surgery!!! I've been good this year Santa .
  5. I only have two more weigh in's for my 6 month requirement and I am like you. I don't want to be disappointed when they submit for insurance approval. I am already drinking the shakes (2x's a day) and taking the vitamins. That is also the reason why I have not told anyone about the surgery.I am hoping that I will have an approval in December.
  6. Hi I have not been sleeved yet and I am hoping that will happen soon. I appreciate your honesty. I see a lot of posts about post surgery but, none of them really tell me what the struggles of actually functioning and eating are. Is your biggest struggle that you have no interest in food at all and you can't even drink your protein shakes?
  7. I am working on taking my protein shakes 2x's a day. It's hard!
  8. That was actually one of the things they told me during my health and nutrition class.
  9. That must have felt amazing!!! I can not wait. I hope my insurance approves this!
  10. Don't feel bad. I took my son to an amusement park and I couldn't fit on the ride...i had to get off. Take about embarrassing and miserable. We are planning a trip to Disney World in 2015. I am hoping to be so much slimmer by then. Hopefully you can just make the best of it and make plans to return when ur healthy and fabulous!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using VST
  11. Hi, at my appointment the surgeon went over my weight, BMI and we discussed the difference between the sleeve and bypass. It was pretty quick. His office staff then set up the psyc visits, nutritional class, dietian appnts, upper GI, lab appnts, endoscopy and weigh in's. Depending on ur insurance it could be a few months to a year. I have to wait 6 months . It's fine though. It gives me time to make sure I get the Protein shakes I like and start eating healthier. How long do you have to wait? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using VST
  12. Yes, what is your BMI now? That is my biggest concern, is that I will be denied because of my BMI. I have Health Net (California). My BMI is right at 40.5, and my weight fluctuates so much. They went back to last year? Did you have a waiting period? I have to do 6 months of monitored weight management.
  13. I never thought about the car seat. That's a good point. Well I guess the question is do you like your face slimmer? I'm sure you look great!!
  14. No problem. I started taking my Vitamins in June. I take Natures Bounty hair, skin and nails. On the bottle is says take two capsules a day but, I only take one because they give me loose stools (sorry, I know TMI) and, I am running for my life to the bathroom, lol. There is a liquid form of Biotin. I don't know if that would be better for you. They sell them on Amazon.com, I have never checked for them at costco. How are you feeling after your surgery? I hope everything went well.
  15. Hello Everyone, I am hoping for a December surgery. All I have left are 3 more weigh in's, then it's up to my insurance for approval. I am really hoping that this comes through. My Dr. told me to come into the office after my November weigh in and speak with the scheduler to book it. I am ready for the change!!!! Good luck everyone here is to a fabulous new 2014 for us!
  16. I just hope that with the sleeve I won't have problems with portion control.
  17. Now that is what I am waiting for. The amazed looks.
  18. Knees don't hurt!!! That's a good one. My knees don't hurt but they make a crackling sound when I walk up stairs!! OH I sooo hope that goes away!
  19. Funny cuz I find even now when I talk about nutrition people just look at me like HA yeah right!!! I can't wait for those "little things" to happen. Thanks for sharing!
  20. My bottle actually recommendations it twice a day but, I honestly can't tolerate it because it makes me run to the bathroom (sorry I know TMI). I know after awhile it would pass but, I think one has worked great for me so far.
  21. Haha I remember as a kid being able to wrap my arms around myself and pretend I was making out with someone. I sooooooo forgot about that, it's been so long since I have been able to do that! I can't wait till my pants are falling off. I think I will keep all my belts and just add holes to it so I can constantly remind myself of where I never want to be again! Thanks for sharing!
  22. Oh yes I didn't think about my calves shrinking (I have beefy calves lol). Hiccups? Hmmmm that does not sound enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!!
  23. Source: Anyone with Health Net & denied for low BMI?
  24. Hi, I've read so many great posts about weight loss after the sleeve. I am wondering what has been the small thing or things that have changed since your surgery? Like having to buy smaller shoes, spend less on groceries, more on gas because you go out more. I haven't had my surgery yet I am just wondering what those "little" surprises are that maybe I can look forward to. Thank you.
  25. Congratulations! Have you already left the hospital? Are you flying home?
