Shutting off email notifications
On my phone (android) go to settings and uncheck notifications. I think you'll have to turn off the email notifications from your computer. I don't see it on my phone.

When you click notifications do you see boxes that are checked? If you do uncheck those boxes. Are you on your phone or on a computer/tablet?

The frustration of it all
I haven't had the surgery yet, and I'm not sure of the post open requirements but, I'm just wondering if you can have baby food? Usually the fruits are delicious. I'm just throwing this out there, at the same time making sure I hear the plus and negatives of the procedure. I hate to hear your having a bad day. I hope it gets better soon.

Why, why, why, Delilah?
I haven't had the surgery yet but, my doctor said the supplements will help. I take 5,000mg of the hair, skin and nails, one pill each day. It does take at least 2 months for you to see a difference. I have also heard fish oil pills work great!

Big fear
You make a valid point. I thought the very same thing but, I also thought will I be the same person after surgery? I will have way more confidence and hold my head just a little bit higher. Some people are just that shallow they can't see past our weight. Screw them. When you find the right person it won't matter anymore.

Any Teachers?
HI, I'm not a teacher but I work in the main office of a high school (so basically we are on the same schedule). I am currently going through the 6 month requirement and asked my Doctor if we could really push for December during the 2 week break. He didn't see a problem with it. When I finish with my NovemberI weigh in I need to go over and give them a heads up so everything is done and when I finish that final weigh in they will submit, Keeping my fingers crossed for the surgery to happen during the two week winter break. You can always make sure you keep in touch with a sub you like and give them your lesson plans. I think you can use FMLA. It will just come out of your sick time. Well....at least here in California. Hope that helps.

1 month monday down 48 lbs
I agree! I have told myself after the surgery I will not become scale obessed. I don't even own a scale. The way I feel and the way my clothes fit will determine my happiness. I see so many posts about daily weigh in numbers and I just couldn't deal with my weight numbers going up and down. Good luck to everyone on meeting your goals! I can't wait to start my new journey. First Surgeon Visit
Hi, my first visit was a discussion about why I chose weight loss surgery and why I chose either the sleeve or gastric bypass. He went over my weight and my BMI and his expectations between that visit and surgery. My surgeon was very thorough. Originally I thought about getting gastric bypass but, I didn’t like the fact that my system would be “re-routed”. After researching (before I met with him) he agreed that the sleeve would be best. I have a 6 month waiting period to prepare. Based on your co-morbidities you will have to have different work up’s done i.e. EKG, endoscopy, Upper GI, nutritionist, psychiatrist, dietician, endless lab work, take your vitamins and find the right protein shake for you. Good luck on your journey. Do you have a waiting period between your visit and surgery?

When did you realize it had to be surgery for you
HI I have been considering WLS for about a year. After pitiful attempts at dieting, working out and other, not so healthy methods at losing weight, I decided that I would look into gastric bypass. My Dr. referred me to a specialist and I attended a seminar. They had three options, gastric bypass, the vertical sleeve and the lap band. They went over each option very thoroughly. I chose the vertical sleeve and my doctor agreed. My breaking point wasn’t when I couldn’t fit on the rides at the amusement park or into my clothes. It was when I looked through all my pictures and I only had a handful of myself and my son because I avoided cameras like the plague. My health (according to my labs) are fine but, I don’t feel fine. I don’t care what anyone says. We live in a world that discriminates against fat (fluffy) people. People judge you and stare at you. I have to admit I self-sabotage myself because I don’t feel comfortable in crowds. I don’t like being the odd ball out I know once I lose all this weight myself perception will change and so will my attitude  !!!

Anyone with Health Net & denied for low BMI?
Hi Everyone, I'm new here and, started this journey in June. I have completed all the nutrition appointments, health appoints, nut appointment, Upper GI, endoscopy, lab work, etc. I am going into month 4 of my 6 month weigh in's. I have a BMI of 40.5 & no co-morbidies. I weigh 245-250. I am just trying to find out if anyone has Health Net/Hills physician California and been denied? I haven't submitted authorization (that will happen in December). I would just hate to do everything that I have been doing and the wonderful insurance company doesn't approve me because I am under BMI. Thanks for reading my post.

Finally got a surgery date! But how was your liquid diet
It's interesting to hear how everyone is preparing for surgery. I just met with my Dr. Yesterday and she said I don't need to do the full liquid diet just two shakes a day. Right now I am drinking turbo chocolate hydro whey.

liquid diet starts Monday!
I went to my Dr. Yesterday and she said I won't need to do the complete liquid diet for two weeks but, just 2 protein shakes a day. It would be nice to hear how other people maintain for two weeks. Right now I am drinking the turbo chocolate hydro whey.

Decision Confirmed!
I also remember getting on a ride at Great America and they couldn't lock the shoulder rest because I was too big. I was so embarrassed. I had to get off in front of all those people. I can't wait to get this sleeve. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories!! I guess we have all gotten to that point. At least it's not the point of no return!

Decision Confirmed!
I have thought long and hard about why I wanted the sleeve. Today my reasons were confirmed. I went to back to school night for my son and was mortified by either 1. The desks are MUCH smaller than when I was in school or 2. I have gotten THAT much bigger!!! How embarrassing, I almost didn't't fit in the chair!!! Then I got stuck!!!! I can not wait to be sleeved.....3 more months to go!!!!! Please share your wake up call moment!!!

6 months doc diet.....start!
I met with the nurse during my weigh in and she said I just need to move to 2 shakes a day and I won't need to do the 2 weeks liquid diet. Whew, that was a relief. I have never been a breakfast eater either. So the shakes work perfectly.

Day 2 sleeved
How are you feeling today? Is the pain more bearable? How much longer do you have to stay?
