  1. I called this morning and spoke with my insurance and the doctors office. I was APPROVED. The six months of jumping through hoops and playing the waiting game, and I am finally approved! I can not BELIEVE IT **jumping from my chair and running in circles...happy dance, happy dance**! Who says that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day! I was hoping for a December surgery date, but they were all filled up. It was Jan. 7th or wait until Feb. Well, that was a no brainer. I was told I should expect to be out for six weeks, better safe than sorry. I can go back to work earlier if I feel up to it. I have been saving up my sick time just for this.....WOOO HOOO!!!
  2. Hi Everyone! I was originally hoping for December, but that didn't happen. I was just approved today and I'm scheduled for January 7th! I am SOOOOOOOO Excited!
  3. I just spoke with my insurance company and Doctor's office! I'm approved! My surgery is January 7th!!!! WOOO HOOO!
  4. I'm in California. In the East Bay.
  5. Good luck to you. I was also submitted 12/06. I'm still waiting. I think I lost my 10% of the pre-surgery weight just waiting on the approval. Uhg.....this SUCKS!
  6. I would imagine so. You would think they would lay all this out so you don't have to waste all the time and money!
  7. That is what I am SO nervous about! Did you have to go through the whole six month process? Didn't your doctor know that before you started this? Uhg.....I hate waiting.
  8. I can understand your frustration. I am waiting too. My docs were submitted on Friday. I'm STILL waiting. The insurance co said they have until Friday to let me know. The waiting is KILLING me!
  9. BeBe what an inspiring picture!!! You and your son look beautiful. You should be very proud of your accomplishments! Congratulations.
  10. Sometimes the stress can add to your weight gain. I was told I had to give up my lemonade and almost fell out of my chair. I haven't switched to the crystal light yet (it's been six months). Maybe you can try limiting to 1-2 a day for a while and slowly wean off of them? Believe me I know it's hard giving up some of the things you have become comfortable with (for years). Don't get discouraged, it will happen. Now when I look in the mirror I tell myself "I'm done looking like this". I made Cookies for us yesterday and I threw them away. YES, threw them away. I have NEVER done that. Mentally I am just DONE with being big. I was nowhere near this state month’s back. I was not motivated and I was discouraged. Just take it day by day and try to find something new that helps curb your hunger. Good luck to you!
  11. Hi, I can completely relate with what you are saying. I just recently completed my 6 month requirement and now I am waiting for approval. During the 6 month process I was excited. Then I started getting really nervous. I started questioning if I would even get approved and if I would even have the surgery. Then I started telling myself why am I doing all of this if they say no? I was completely discouraged. The weigh-in's didn't help my mental state. I was still thinking negatively. I am STILL waiting on an approval and it's driving me NUTS! They say I should hear in 5 days, BUT it can take anywhere up to 45 if they have "questions". I think as you find your stride you will stick with it. It's better to do it slowly rather than just jumping into it. I have gone through 4-5 different Protein shakes until I found one that I actually like drinking. My food intake has decreased (but I am still not losing weight). It's sooo frustrating! It will happen, you will do it. Good luck to you and enjoy your "mini" achievements first. It will help you in the long run.
  12. Wow! Yes, that is a hefty amount to spend! At least the insurance company is working with you. This waiting is giving me so much anxiety. Hopefully my screen name will match me at this time next year. I am really hoping so! Good luck with your surgery, I'm sure your nerves are shot. Amazing, just think in a few days you will be on your way to fit and fab too!!! You'll do great! Keep us posted!
  13. Hi, I am waiting for approval as we speak. The paperwork was submitted to my insurance on 12/06. My insurance says they have 5 days to reply (the latest is Friday). I am so stressed and have so much anxiety I can't eat (imagine that). The suspense is killing me, I hate waiting! Good luck with your approval. Hopefully you hear back soon.
  14. Hi! Good luck with your surgery. I wish you luck. Where in the East Bay are you? I am hopefully having my surgery in Oakland.
  15. Good Luck to you! I am sure you will do fine! I am still waiting for my approval. Waiting SUCKS! The good thing is that you already know you will get it. You will do great and feel great after all is said and done! Good luck and keep us posted!
  16. I haven't told anyone at all. I just finished my six month requirement and Im waiting for approval. When/If I do get approved I will only tell one person and that's because I need a ride home from the hospital. Why should I tell anyone? If I loose or gain my business, my body.
  17. I will say a prayer for both of us! My paperwork was submitted to the insurance companythis morning (I called my insurance company to confirm it was received). The insurance comapny says 5 days for a response. I am on pins and needles. Good luck and hopefully you hear back soon. How long did you have for your insurance requirements? I had a six month waiting period. My last weigh in was yesterday.
  18. I am "officially" waiting for an approval. I called my insurance company and they received the claim this morning 12/06. They said I will have an answer within 5 days. Here come the pins and needles. "I hate this part right here!"
  19. Me too. My final weigh in is Thursday. I've completed everything. I'm a wreck! I hope I get approved. I've been waiting 6 months! They won't even tentatively schedule me until I am official....ugh!
  20. Congratulations! How is your recovery going now? How much time did you take off for your recovery?
  21. Hi I am not telling anyone. My Mother is a worry wart and will ask me 21 questions until my ears bleed. I am hoping to have my surgery during the winter break so my son will be away visiting relatives. That will give me time to heal. I just don't want to hear anything until I'm ready to share. Jus1Nita I feel for you and the comparisons. In a few years you'll be able to see who is better off with the weight loss and maintaining. It's better that the pounds come of slowly instead of instantly. It gives your body the chance to catch up and you don't look so sickly. Good luck!
  22. That also was mentioned. That the hunger would still be there, unlike the sleeve. It's strange how the stomach is folded. It doesn't seem like it would be beneficial.
