  1. Oh wow, interesting...I thought we couldn't swallow anything whole in the beginning. I'm still six weeks pre op. so I don't need to crush it up , eh?
  2. Ordinarily, I am all about getting rid of stuff that I don't need. In fact I consider myself the polar opposite of a pack rat, and I thoroughly enjoy purging closets and drawers. However... I am definetley keeping my largest pair of pants and one shirt. I've always wanted to do that classic pose that people who've lost a ton of weight do as they hold that huge pair of pants out to show how big they used to be. But I'm just keeping the one outfit. The rest has gotta go!
  3. I'm only seeing Prilosec OTC in pill form in the store. Do they make something chewable beside those nasty chalky tums? What did you take?
  4. I am wondering if something like JOINT JUICE (liquid glucosamine condroitin would help for arthritus post op) has anyone tried it? I too am wondering what happens once we get off the ibuprofen post op. So we can never take it again? I won't even meet my surgeon Til I get to Mexico in six weeks so I really apreciate everyone's experiences and ideas!
  5. Or did it stay about the same? What do you take for your arthritus post op? Joint juice? Seems expensive though. Is there an economical way to go?
  6. Hhmm...interesting. I'm still 6 weeks pre-op but thinking I could of saved myself the expense and torture of total body lazer hair removal if I'd known it was going to fall out down there too! I keep hearing about Biotin to prevent hair loss. Are you taking that?
  7. Lol I've heard about those Popsicles. They say the red ones are meat based protein pops. Yeah...I will be heading to that little shop instead. Thanks. And feeling better about not having to schlep all those bottles of water with me! Thanks
  8. Very helpful ; thanks ladies! I am so glad you're all doing so well! Happy healthy journeys to you!
  9. Did you really have to bring your own gauze bandages, bactine and paper tape? Did you have to bring soap and washcloths for Mi Doctor Hospital? Or do we even get to shower at the hospital? Should we bring our own bottled Water? I hear the Marriott only gives 2 bottles a day. What else are you really glad you brought? Anything you would have left at home? Thanks in advance :-)
  10. Ohhh... You want to target specific areas. One word for ya LIPOSUCTION ! It's the new "diamond" ... Lipo is a girls best friend
  11. I did the HCG diet many years ago. At that time in my life I wasn't wanting to diet and exercise, wanted a quick fix/ easy way out and the shots didnt work. A few years later I tried it again...this time we t on the 500 cal diet, lost weight. As soon as I went off I regained the 20 lbs plus more weight. Just last week I met a lady standing in the grocery store line. She asked me about the protein mix I was buying and said... Oh I need some of that. I had my WLS a year ago and just can't seem to lose any weight. I looked at her grocery cart and saw the following items: soda, chips, cookies, donuts, hot dogs etc. she says she's lost 100 lbs in a year since her sleeve surgery. Has 100 lbs to go, can't figure out why she's stalled (could it be the foods you're eating?) anyhoo... I asked her how she lost the required ten percent pre op. she said oh that's easy... I didnt feel like dieting so I went and got the HCG shots, lost 10 lbs in a week and the doc signed her off. So it might be a good thing to get the mandatory pre op weight off but most ppl that I've talked to including myself, regained it once resuming normal eating and going off shots. Good luck~ best wishes...
  12. A very successful, wise business associate of mine once shared this Mantra with me. A. M. P. AUTONOMY... The desire to direct our own lives. MASTERY...The desire to get better and better at something that matters. PURPOSE...start doing the things that we know work. Stop doing the things we know do not work. AMP up your life. I just recently came across this in some notes from the meeting where he shared this. Found it to be refreshingly appropriate for this special journey we find ourselves on at this point in our lives. Now if only there were some words on PATIENCE... 46 days Til surgery. Can't I just fast forward to Nov. 1st ? ;-p
  13. What a totally intrusive question to ask someone? I'm still pre op but I'm sure someone will ask wow, how are you losing all that weight? I'm going to say... I'm very focused on portion control, Protein and Water intake and exercise. Do NOT feel bad for saying no. If I'm ever confronted like that, I will deny it as well. People that I work with already talk smack about the lady who gets plastic surgery. I'm very private. I make it a point to protect my privacy and not provide gossip material for the peanut gallery!
  14. I will be there on November 1st 2013. I have been wondering about bringing water. Thanks for the heads up. Will be bringing hand sanitizer as well.
  15. I'm still 6 weeks pre op but my plan is to kill two birds with one stone by drinking 2 Isopures a day (that's 80 grams of protein and 40 oz liquid) then water or powerade zero to hopefully get up to the 68 oz of fluid. I'm not going to push it, but that's the game plan for post op clear liquids.
  16. I'm still pre op but was wondering the same thing. Fruits and veggies would be easy to figure out but I cannot even imagine eating puréed meat. I loathe the texture of pate' and so unless I could blend soft veggies with the meat I think I will pass. Think I will just stick with liquid protein. Oh actually maybe a creamy soup like butternut squash blended with chicken? Can we eat that of is it too starchy?
  17. Thanks a lot, that's very helpful bufflehead! So how long did you stay on liquids before moving to purre and soft ?
  18. Ok so I understand that week one post op is CLEAR liquid ONLY. 600 cals/ 60-90 grams Protein? Week two is full liquids? So we can now drink Protein shakes and thin puréed Soups and anything you can drink through a straw (but don't actually use a straw) right? Week three is puréed? So.... What? Like the consistency of baby food? Week four and five is where it gets very confusing in the paperwork they emailed me. Please tell me what you ate weeks four and five maybe even six... Thankyou so much ! :-)
  19. I'm 7 weeks Til surgery. Self pay/ Mexico so I don't have a Nut or Doc to talk to. They sent me an e- file on suggested post op diet , but it's so vague. I hear people talking about chicken broth and Popsicles during the first couple days post op. I really don't like most chicken broths... Can I just drink Isopure? Does that count towards Water intake? Or do I need to drink 48 -64 oz water in addition to ISOPURE?
  20. Wow, I would live to walk from the Marriott to the beach! How long of a walk is it?
  21. I'm using Mexico Bariatic Center. Christy is my awesome coordinator. She lives in Northern California and is great about responding promptly. I'm still 7 weeks pre op but very comfortable with my descision to use Dr Louisianna Valensuela at mi doctor hospital.
  22. I chose Dr. louisianna Valensuela @ mi Doctor staying at the Marriott Hotel. Feeling very confident and comfortable with my choice. She comes highly recommended, the price is $4500 the hospital is supposed to be great and the hotel is beautiful. My coordinator is Christy who I found out lives about 20 min from me. She invited me to stop by and see her if I'm in the neighborhood. Super awesome lady who responds anytime and everytime I ask a question without hesitation. Super excited... C'mon November 1st !
  23. Oops starting weight 226 (5 weeks ago) and I'm going to change my goal to 199. Why not just say goodbye to the 200s and enter ONEderland with the poster above me :-p go big or go home! ( well actually well be going "small" but u know what I mean)
  24. I am so in ! Halloween is the day I get in the car and drive 9 hours to TJ Mx. I will be checking in at the Marriott in TJ on Halloween eve, so this is purrrfect! Starting weight today: 219 Halloween goal: 200 As to gamer girls question of what we do differently... When we have accountability and commoradery in a goal setting, we excel because someone else is watching and caring. It's much easier to cheat, delay, procrastinate and dismiss when it's just us looking. A challenge like this makes it fun and we have the accountability factor! Should we check in weekly, every Friday?! Great post I like it.
