  1. I'm almost 2 years post op and I went to reach in backseat to give something to child and when I turned back around I felt like someone had grabbed my stomache and ripped it out. Same thing happened the two times I've fried doing ab crunches. Is something wrong? Anyone experience this? Will I never do sit ups again?!
  2. Wow! Shots in ISOPURE. That would yield 82 grams of protein in about 24 oz of liquid. I just can't imagine how that tastes but dang that's a great way to double down and git r done on protein! I might try that sometime.
  3. You can stop them once your able to get enough protein from solid food but it's always good to have some on hand for emergency days when u just don't have time or access to adequate nutrition. I love my shakes. Will probably always keep them on my menu.
  4. ISOPURE liquid protein (40 grams per 20 oz bottle) New whey protein shots (42 grams per 4 oz vial) best watered down IMO Shakes: Body fortress (Walmart) chocolate/vanilla / strawberry Syntrex Nectar (on line) cookies and cream/ fuzzy navel/ many flavors Unjury protein (on line) most popular is the unflavored powder that you can add to Anything! Ie: turn butternut squash soup into a protein packed meal. They also carry protein hot cocoa and chicken broth. My very favorite protein shake is to take 1 cup of fat free double protein milk (by Lucerne/ Safeway grocery store) Add I scoop of vanilla protein powder 5 ice cubes And anything I'm in the mood for: Pumpkin pie: I always freeze things into ice cube trays so I take 1 cube at a time 1 cube of pumpkin purée 1 tsp SF maple syrup Sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger BANANA NUT: Omit Ice cubes add 1/2 banana (I freeze in slices) And a few walnuts Dash of vanilla or banana extract Reece's PEANUT BUTTER CUP 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter (all natural) I grind my own nut butters PIÑA COLADA SMOOTHIE: 1 scoop vanilla Pwdr 1/2 cup frozen pineapple Substitute 1/2 of the milk for coconut milk Add an umbrella parasol... Go sit out in the sunshine... Soak up the vitamin D... Enjoy your mini island retreat. APPLE PIE A LA MODE 1/2 cup stewed apples in cinnamon nutmeg or applesauce add nutmeg (frozen) The list is endless... Whatever you're in the mood for you can turn into a protein shake. And if it's something savory... Go with unjurys unflavored protein to create that savory dish. You can order a sample pack for $21 from them. Bon appetite!
  5. Yum. What is a baby yogurt melt? Are they found in the yogurt section or freezer isle?
  6. Ok thanks ladies, I have no glue, and no steri strips, only stitches that will dissolve. I was told to wash daily with soap and water, then use peroxide. I do have one that is looking a little oozy. Using neosporine. Have a bad rash all over my stomache, probably from the adhesive tape :-(
  7. Oh, good to hear. They didnt even tell me to use neosporine , I just did because I always have, post op.
  8. Like there are two inscisions that I can see are going to take more time than the other three which already look good to go (3 days post op). How long did YOU treat your inscisions???
  9. I just got sleeved in Mexico. Very conflicting information. One paper says when I get home. Another says one week. The discharge consultant said 14 days. (Super confused)
  10. I was just sleeved in Tijuana. Conflicting info, one page says when I get home. Another says one week, and the discharge consultant said 14 days. (So confused)
  11. Starting nov 1st ( day of surgery) 205 lbs Goal for thanksgiving is 199 (one-derland) Good luck everyone :-)
  12. I just had my VSG 3 days ago at MI DOCTOR HOSPITAL. My coordinator just called me to see how everything went. When I commented that I was surprised that the hospital was actually a clinic. She said, no, according to Mexican standards, it is a hospital. (It has a blood bank/ can preform transfusions) so it's a hospital. My point is... Our interpretation of HOSPITAL and theirs are different.
  13. The driver was great. The Marriott was great. My Dr. Valenzuela saw me for 60 seconds before surgery, preformed VSG, never saw her again. Mi doctor Hospital was not the greatest. Three times my bag went empty at night long enough to drain blood up the tubing, nurses blew my vein (baseball size lump on my hand) night nurses spoke no English. I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel ! I'm still here at the Mariott. Sipping and walking...looking forward to leaving for California in the morning!
  14. Right here in bed at Mi Doctor Hospital in TJ Mexico. 2 hours Til surgery. Ready to be on the other side...
  15. Day 14 down. Laying in bed at the Hospital in Tiajuana Mx. 2 hours Til surgery. Who knew how good chicken broth could taste. I had three cups last night, and it was the most incredible thing ever. (True sign that you're starving) lol If I survived the pre op diet... So can you!!!
  16. I'm here at Mi Doctor right now. 2 hours Til surgery. Will be gone/ back to hotel by the time you get here. I will say...BRING EYE MASK . The blinds are too small for the window so it's very bright in the room! Wearing my sunglasses now. There is soap, shampoo, washcloths, towels, nice size shower, private room/ bathroom. Everyone is very nice.
  17. hey there, I'm here at the hospital, getting my vitals. Everything is good so far. Clean and courteous. The Marriott is very nice, impeccable service! Will keep u posted :-)
  18. Good to see that everyone's doing well and SURVIVING our pre -op diet. Just made it through day 13. Tomorrow is the last day with my normal stomache. NOV 1st is my re- birthday!
  19. Bags are packed, and hopefully my liver is shrunk Leaving at 4 am for what will probably be a ten hour drive from Northern California to the TJ Boarder. Adios amigos!
  20. Survived first of three days CLEAR LIQUID. Did 2 ISOPURE plus 1 cup of swansons tortilla soup BROTH today and water and some V-8 splash lite... Total calories- 600 protein- 80 grams.
  21. Survived the 1st day day of clear liquid diet.i highly recommend Swansons tortilla soup BROTH. Very spicy, yum! I did 2 ISOPURE and I cup of broth. 2 days Til surgery.
  22. And I don't like the idea of guzzling anything down before bed. It just sits there! The point of food is energy to sustain you through the day. I would not wanna force feed myself. We're supposed to be breaking bad habits and replacing with healthy ones. Call the Doc!
  23. That's alot of food compared to many of us. Mine, for instance is 2 shakes and the lettuce and lean protein salad plus if absolutely nessasary drink a third shake. I would talk to doc or coordinator. Ask them if u can cut back. That's alot!!!! I could barely do the three plus salad. I've lost a lb a day on pre op diet. Are u losing any weight on yours? Not that that is the intention but it's a nice side effect
  24. Good luck kyrie! You got this. It's going to be so worth it! I'm on day 11 liquid diet. First day of clear today. Friday is sleeve day! Limit the temptations and put yourself first. This is your priority. I wish I would have done this when I was younger. You have your whole life ahead of you :-)
