  1. Is the buy 2 get 1 free going on now? I love quest bars....the easiest and tastiest way to hit my fiber and protein goals.....and they go down nice and easy...
  2. Sorry, for the last food I meant to say Pears!!!
  3. I'm also obsessed with fiber (or terrified of constipation). I try to get 25 grams per day which is the daily suggested value for "normal eaters". And I try to get it all from regular food. My go to foods to get all my fiber are lentils, hummus or any other beans, brussel sprouts, broccoli, chia seeds, pistachios, raspberries, cabbage, oat bran, avocado or avocados. When I come up short at the end of the day I eat 1/2 to 1 quest bar which has 17 grams of fiber per bar. I'm 5 months post op and haven't experienced constipation since the 1st week.

First "fast day" of 5:2 plan

My NUT only spoke to me about protein and fluid which makes me nervous.

First "fast day" of 5:2 plan

Hi girls, Do you all have targets for everything or just Protein. I read one thread where someone tries to stick to 30 grams of fat or less, 60 grams of carbs or less and 90 grams of protein. Sugars as close to 0 as possible and Fiber at least 25 grams. Does this sound right?
  7. Me too! I'm 1 month out and would love to know if I'm in the right ballpark besides just protein and fluids.

    How many calories?

Congrats on losing so much in 7 months!! Well done! Your body is probably just trying to get its bearings. Maybe you can try 1,000 just for 1 day to ignite your metabolism. Also, I notice the more Water I manage to drink the more weight I lose. Since I'm new at this - only 1 month post op - can you give me an idea of how many calories you were eating at 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, etc?

    My 600lb life

You said it girls!! The husband was a total enabler. And by the end I felt really bad for the surgeon....it seemed he acted about her future more than they did....ugh!

    My 600lb life

I was lost for words!!! She had her husband deep frying dumplings after the sleeve....WTF!!! And said something like, "I can't live without dumplings"....it seems like soon she won't be living at all. The poor nutritionist came to try and help and she almost bit her head off. Doesn't she feel sorry for her son who will grow up without a mother? They were showing what she was eating right after the sleeve and it seemed like way too much food. Is it possible the surgeon did make her sleeve small enough??
  11. I'm so happy to hear your great news!!! I'm also 2 weeks post op and I'm down 21 pounds since 1 day preop when I started clear liquids. Like you I'm extremely happy and am having no complications. Yippie for us!!!!

    Wendy's Chili

I'm only post op 6 days so it's not time for me yet but I definitely remember seeing a lot of sleevers posting on this site about eating Wendy's chili (I'm sure without the onions and cheese on top). But I can't remember what phase they were in when they ate it.

Which city are you having your surgery?

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

I have the same date as you both (Jan 6) at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC and was told only to do clear liquids starting 24 hours before surgery. But I've been having a lot of "last meals" which I'm worried will cause more weight gain (I'm on vacation and have no scale) so I think I'll put myself on a low carb diet until the 5th and then do the day of liquids. I'm also weaning myself off of coffee and caffeine now because I really don't feel like going through caffeine withdrawal while trying to heal from surgery...lol
  20. Hi Nevermore, I'm also having my surgery on January 6th at Lenox Hill in New York City. Let's keep in touch. Best of luck to you!!

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

I'm also scheduled on January 6th in NYC at Lenox Hill with Dr. Roslin! Best wishes...let's keep in touch!
  22. Has anyone had a VSG with Dr. Roslin in the last few months? Can you tell me what to expect? Pre op exams? How many office visits? Experience at Lenox Hill? Around how much the total cost would be for self pay?

    Dr Roslin, NYC

Thank you for taking the time to explain all that to me!! I wish you all the best for your VSG surgery. I wish mine was also next week. Let me know how you are feeling when it's all done.

    FUSTERATED..........(:

I read from others on these forums that granola was a major culprit in sabotaging their weight loss and causing weight gain. I think we are led to believe it's a healthy food but a 1/4 cup has something like 250 calories and tons of carbs.
  25. I haven't been sleeved yet but from one doctor's discussion I've recently watched on you tube there was something mentioned about the fact that the new stomach is long and narrow so it becomes "high pressure". I'm guessing as the stomach heals and adapts to all the different foods you've been introducing the last few months in this new "high pressure" environment, your symptoms will lessen.
