  1. Beings fall is nearly upon us, I was wondering if anyone could suggest some delicious pumpkin recipes?

I have a pumpkin cookie recipe from "before" but its got a ton of butter in it so that's OUT.

I found a no-crust pumpkin pie - I bet adding some Protein powder to it would make for a perfect Thanksgiving dessert.

Okay, what'cha got? I'll be needing my pumpkin fix as soon as the weather changes and the leaves start to fall. It's a must in my book.

  3. I love Morningstar Farms Grillers Original veggie burgers, each 4oz patty has 15 grams of Protein.

    Stats:

    Fat- 6 grams

    Calories- 130

    Protein - 15 grams

    Carbs - 5 grams

    Fiber - 2 grams

To me, these are definitely something I'd like to always have around. They are perfect as is...no Condiments.

Here is my question...there are TONS of other choices to pick from...chik'n, veggie dogs, Breakfast, entree's....sounds wonderful and I'd love to try them, but what do these taste like? Does anyone out there have any experience with other veggie based products located in the freezer section of the grocery store?

  4. Well, here's a lesson learned. 200 calories used to sound like nothing in the old days. Now, it's a fourth of my daily allowance. Yes I understand this but when it came time to decide whether or not to have a Protein bar, I looked at it and said, oh, it's only 200 calories.

Yeah. 200 calories that did NOT go thunk, that tasted like sugar, and now I am still very hungry. I am obviously not one of those that will feel no hunger. Every day at meal and snack time, I get hungry. And I have to eat right THEN otherwise i get nauseated and light-headed.

So here we are, no dinner yet, and I only have 137 calories--and a very hungry tummy. Almost 5 weeks post-surgery, I still hadn't hit the 800 calorie mark. Today, it appears I will go over. (Insert sarcastic font here). Should REALLY help with the "no weight-loss over 10 days thing". I'm bummed because it feels a little like a slippery slope from the old days, where I'd go over my calorie limits "just that one day" because of something.

I guess we all have to learn the hard way what our sliders are, but for me, Oh Yeah Protein Bars appear to be sliders. Of course, I now have a whole box full of them, but I guess I won't be eating them. I mean, I expected crackers, sweets, chips, donuts, popcorn, simple carbs etc. to be sliders, but it hadn't occurred to me something with 15 gms of Protein would be a slider?

Does that happen? Are there other things that are sliders for you that are not simple carbs?

Gamergirl - what is your own personal daily quota of protein, fat, calorie, carb? I try to limit myself as well to what I think suits my need, but it's always interesting to hear what someone else is striving for.

As for the Protein Bar...I've also heard that in you're stalled to eat a higher amount of fat/calories. So consider this your day and tomorrow start fresh. Don't be so hard on yourself!

  5. Hi everyone!

I was sleeved 8/28. I'm on the mushy foods part of my journey and I struggle to get enough Protein daily.

My incisions are all healing nicely, no infection, drainage of any kind, but I have some serious muscle pain in the largest incision.

i have yet to find a Protein Powder i like, so I've stuck to the Isopure drink, but I'm getting tired of it to the point that its a chore to get it down. i ordered some unflavored powder that i plan to sprinkle onto everything...not sure if that's unrealistic but its a good way to help meet my daily protein requirements in addition to what i already get in.

I'm appreciating mushy foods...so much better than liquids - have found some really tasty recipes that I'm so excited to try.

Has anyone experienced a change in flavors since surgery? Everything is just too sweet! i have to Water things down just to tolerate them. Things I used to love, like yogurt, are nearly intolerable!

  6. I'm 1 week out and started mushies today. My Dr told me that I should only consume foods/bites that are smaller than my thumb nail and to chew it until its the consistency of yogurt. Is that what you were told as well and do you actually follow this rule? I made myself 1 egg white today and it took me forever to eat the darn thing and it was kinda gross to chew/swallow it at such a Water, thin consistency. Not appealing.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are foods out there that probably require lots and lots of chomping, but is it really necessary for everything we ingest?
