I made a really great pumpkin Protein Dip.
1/2 cup of canned pumpkin
1/2 cup vanilla low fat Greek yogurt
1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese
1 scoop vanilla "Muscletech" Protein Powder
Couple packs of artifical sweetener (to taste)
1/2-3/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Purée in blender.
Yields: scant 2 cups
1 serving = 1/4 cup
42 calories
5 carbs
5 protein

It's so nice to read everyone concerns, comments and support. It is confirmation that we are NOT alone on this journey...including the stall. I too since 11 day f/u pet surgery haven't lost an ounce. It's funny how I read the same thoughts running thru my head as some of you like "What if this is all I will lose?" Thanks to all the supporting words everyone!!

I too had reflux before surgery and I still have it! Prilosec is my friend!!!

Thanks Lory!
Very interesting .... 7 day stall 2 weeks out. Booo

Hey Lori,
Where is the article you are referring to? I can't seem to locate it?

Too funny! I did the same thing except it was after my surgery! My husband thought it was funny too. I would wake up in a panic ...thinking I had drank a soda one time!
Isn't it assuring to know we are all "normal"(whatever that is)?

I LOVE the Muscletech from Sams Club. It comes in chocolate or Vanilla. It can be made with skim milk, Water, hot, or cold. I have added it to cream of wheat, pudding for extra Protein. Also I have added half a pack of crystal light to the vanilla to change it up too. Lots and lots of versatility. The cost is VERY reasonable too.

I headed into VSG with acid reflux and unfortunately it didn't leave after surgery. I have learned that I cannot take my meds all at once now. My doc has taken me off the gallbladder prevention pills and take our chances. The heartburn was that miserable.
Good luck!!

I too "was" a coffee fanatic loving it morning, noon and yes night! I could drink a nice hot cup as a night cap and go off to a heavenly slumber!
Not to sound mean in any way but the thoughts that went thru my head on my journey up to where I am at now (14 days post-op) was simply this.
1. If I couldn't give up what was obviously contributing to what made me WANT this surgery, then why bother going thru with the surgery? If I couldn't walk away from my addictions then there was no hope of success after surgery. This was a surgery that I saut out and persuid it didn't come to me insisting I had no other choice.
The fact is ... I could continue my love affair with my coffee, chips, reese cups etc doing what I always did and would continue to get the same results as I was = fat and miserable OR with this wonderful tool ... I could "sacrifice" my coffee, chips, Reese cups etc. to be the person I so desperately want to be. It's as simple as that!

Sunflower ... Where did you go? Was the broth something that was on the menu or did you ask if they could prepare it specifically for you??
It is nice getting out and being able to see how "our world" will be.

Hope I am feeling GREAT!! Now don't get me wrong... I still have some "tender" spots, still figuring out how to get all the fluids in, the Protein up and fiddling with different mushy foods. Don't make the same mistake I did before heading into surgery. I for some reason was reading all the posts by people who " went back to work the following day", " walked 3 miles the day after" ..... THAT IS NOT TYPICAL!!!
I have had to remind myself that this IS major surgery. Take care of yourself and do the plan as you have been told and you will be just fine!!! If I can help in anyway PLEASE don't hesitate to ask!!!

I took a set of my own comfy pj's. My own pillow (a must), a few magazines and word puzzles (which I didn't even take out of my bag). Between coming out of anesthesia and up and walking there really wasn't much time for anything else! Good luck ...you will do GREAT!!

SigmaChefSpe ....
The lack of nerves is simple confirmation that we are 100% ready. From the get go I had no nerveousness what so ever. I was more amazed at the calmness inside of me. I found the start of the liquid preop diet to be so freeing and never struggled once .... I knew it was the path I needed to travel to get to where I so long have wanted to be!!
Peace my friend, you are right where you should be at this very moment. God speed!

What is the Halloween challenge?Yea.... What's the Halloween challenge??

We share the same date of surgery. I am feeling GREAT and literally better day by day. the aches and pains get less and less. I too find it challenging to get all the water/liquids in PLUS the Protein too!! Down approx 20lbs. I am ready for some variety in choices .... Dr said to take it slow but to try new things. So will be anxious to hear your progress too!

Mittiga
I believe as explained to me the reason for the Protein preop is to shrink the liver so it pulls away from the stomach, making it easier to access the stomach.

Okay....UPDATE ALERT!!!
YES ALERT!
Don't do it! I tried a few spoonfuls of just the broth ...yuck! Too peppery.
"Maybe " a Tbsp of my husbands mashed potatoes.
The Verdict?
HEART BURN!!
Now home doing a Creamy Peanut Butter shake.

Am one week post op and my hubby and I are at bob Evans ... What can I get?????
-
I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one that has been , to say the least MISERABLE! Incision pain, chest pain (hard to breath), heart burn that is so intense that I WANT to vomit. Hard to get on an eating plan when you are feeling like this.

Madam Reveire and Sarahr THANK YOU so much for your compassion and advise!! Can't wait to see the light at the end of the tunnel .
