  1. It's not the drain tube incision. It is the one right at my waist. All of the other incisions are flush with the skin. But this one is like way in so my skin protrudes around it. That's the one that seems to pull, and hurt like crazy. Gas pains are awful too. In my shoulders and is there a limit on how many gas x strips you can do in one day??

  2. Hi, Monday was my surgery and I am in quite a bit of discomfort. My incision looks weird ( one of the five). The weird looking one is tight and it makes it difficult to move. Is this normal??

I also don't feel like the sleeve is restricting and consumption. Has anyone else had these symptoms??

  3. I was just wondering about a few things. Monday was my surgery day woot woot! I felt great in the hospital however the pain meds where at my fingertips. I have been trying to ween myself off of them. Has anyone experience the most painful part of the surgery is the incision sights? It looks like the surgeon took the stitch to deep because it is stuck in. And thats the incision that hurts like the devil. Pulling and burning. Hurts to breath. is there anyone our there that is feeling the same way?

  4. I forgot to mention that I used a heating pad on my stomach at home for a good week, it helped a lot. I've also heard of other sleevers using a stomach binder, I actually thought about that while in the hospital but forgot to mention it to my surgeon. Please make sure to ask your surgeon before trying anything that you're unsure of.

Thanks Val .... Less than 12 hours now!!!

  5. Hello Sleeve Siren!

You sound so positive and up beat ... I am counting down the minutes until I will be "sleeved". Tomorrow morning at 7:30am I am scheduled for surgery. I am so ready too! Lots of emotions and feelings going on but keep assuring myself that the " prize" is just around the corner.

You mentioned how the liquids went. Actually my experience has been quite " freeing". Almost like an alcoholic giving up alcohol. I just kept reminding myself "one day closer" to freedom from all that "we" have endured being "fat". With each sip of Protein drink I rather enjoyed not having to deal with food. Didn't have to look at it, smell it and actually declined one of the roughest 2weeks at work with everyone bringing in treats and goodies. Saying no was so empowering. The past 4days I have done Clear Liquids, crystal lite, Water, tea, bouillon. My day is finally here and I am actually looking forward to Protein drinks.

To make them interesting and tasty i purchased the powered mix from Sams club in vanilla and chocolate. the vanilla i would change up adding different extracts. My favorite drink was the vanilla mix, coffee and carmel extract mixed with powdered milk, and a few ice cubes in the blender. Yummooo! I do sing praises to the wonderful delicious taste of the brand that I have been using. I highly recommend "Muscletech" to everyone. It taste NOTHING like a Protein Drink. No yucky after taste, just a wonderful tasty milkshake!!! Ok well, sorry about the longgg post. Good Luck!! It's all in your attitude and I believe you will do just fine.

  6. Val212.... Congrats on your success too with WLS. tomorrow is my surgery and I am looking for a "packing list". After reading some of these posts the gas that comes along with the surgery sounds horrific. How did you do with the gas and pain? I am a pretty tough girl and can tolerate a lot but WOW it's overwhelming! Anyway ...tomorrow is my day ... Need to be there bright and early at 6am. ( we live an hour away) ....any advice or suggestions of what things to not leave home without would be great!!

  7. Hello all!!!

Well this "50 something" young woman in about 5 days will be "sleeved". (Sept 30th). I am excited, numb, scared, happy ... on and on and on....Tomorrow I start my clear liquid diet for 4 days .... actually its been "freeing" to have been on the full liquids for the passed 10 days however I really haven't lost that much. (5lbs). I thought it would be more since continually seeing others posting their loses of 20lbs in two weeks, disappointing but done the less .... plugging along and will NOT let this discourage me. I have not deviated once since starting my full liquids. Curious what everyone else did for their CLEAR LIQUID pre-op diet? :tongue2:

  8. I'm 58 and started my 2 week liquid diet today. This is the year of me for a change and I am nervous and excited to get started.

Today is my 2nd day of full liquid prepping for surgery Sept 30 I am full of all kinds of thoughts. Thoughts of what will i do without food to run to? on another note does anyone else feel kinda mystified about the liquid diet? 3 - 8oz. Protein Shakes and Water in between is definitely a challenge for all day and I have 12 more days to go!!!

  9. I too start my pre-op diet tomorrow for two weeks. I am scared, excited, doubtful, relieved and unsure all at the same time . I know I have wanted this surgery for a long time and I believe it is the unknown that I am so fearful of. I start thinking of all the things that my life and families revolve around. Cook- outs, family dinners, day out for lunch and shopping ... On and on I could go. How am I going to handle not going out for dinner before going for a pedi with my girlfriend ? Those are the fearful things to me. Learning to live without food for a hobby, boredom cure, emotional release....

I have my Protein power mix, skim milk, sugar free Jello ready for tomorrow. Wish me luck! My surgery is September 30' 2013

  10. My surgery was the 4th. I have no regrets and am actually seeing results! Best of luck to y'all who are about to undergo the procedure. Your making a life-long commitment that only you can control. A friend told me that I am the master of my weight loss. Nobody else can make this exceptional tool work but me, so just remember that and keep moving forward!!

THIS is absolutely AWESOME!!! You are a superstar!!

    May I ask your age??

  11. I am approved by insurance for a Tummy tuck' date=' Lipo and panniculectomy!!! I NEVER in a million years expected insurance would approve, even the nurse at the dr.'s office was surprised! And....it was approved the FIRST time!! I at least thought I would have to appeal. I think it helped that I got a referral from my pain management dr, due to the back/neck issues. Plus, I wrote about how many medical problems are resolved, since the weight loss and how important exercise is in keeping it off. Also put that I am limited in my exercise options, due to other problems, and riding the recumbant bike, is pretty much my only option now, but....the pannis sits on top of my thighs making THAT difficult. SOOOOO, the stars aligned and the request landed on the right person's desk and I am approved!! Also thought that would only approve panniculectomy, but....approval has codes for lipo AND TT!! WOOHOO!!! SOOO excited!![/quote']

Kudos to you!!! What is your insurance?? How far out from your surgery are you? Was there a certain amount of time that must pass before you have an even remote chance of consideration ex: Have you proven you are successful at "keeping" it off"?
