  1. I've been MIA yest. and today.... My Mom went in for her Angiogram this morning.. Not good results... she is NOT a candidate for AngioPlasty or STENT... She has TWO major heart arteries that are 100% blocked, the third one is 80% blocked... being as she is 85 yrs old and already had a couple strokes and 1 heart attach they don't recomment the Bypass Open heart surgery. Needless to say we are very dissappointed tonight. My Mom is taking the news very well... She says " I am not having any more shit done to me, I'm old and that's that." I want to argue with her, and give her any chance that she might have improved heart function and breathing... but alas it is ultimately HER decision... it just really sucks large.
  2. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - best of drugs for your surgery!!
  3. sTEPHANIE; I love your new picture!!! Wow, how much younger you look... I have my hair cut just the same way last week... How cool is that?
  4. Ya, but Phyl you can't get much in there~~
  5. Packing??? Already??? Boy you must have a lot of clothes to crame into that suitcase??? HAHAHAHA EIther that or you are JUST like my Dear Sister .... VERY organized:unsure:
  6. I agree with Doddie, research, research that's the key to success and a happy outcome. There are things that CAN go wrong with lapband and you need to be sure they'll be looked after in a timely fashion, and for FREE! You don't want to be paying and repaying for $16,000. Also, how many fills and years of aftercare will your clinic give you? 5 years? or follow up care for LIFE??? there is a big difference. Maryilyn; You DID choose the best surgeon. Dr. Yau is awesome and precise... he stands by his work and like you mentioned he's done more surgeries PERSONNALY than any one else in Canada. Personally, I like to go right back to my clinic for fills or unfills... unlike some I am 2 1/2 hour drive away.. so I just have gas expenses to consider. Definetly, I am GLAD I decided not to go to Mexico...
  7. Kari, I totally understand about your plans on Babysitting the ankle bitters... beleive me if I had Grandchildren... I'd be there in a heart beat!!! Where in the state is Grand Rapids??? is it more south than Pt. Huron??
  8. Janet, you put it all in a nutshell (albiet a big one) Can I have permission to print out the above and share it with all my Weight concious buddies... Very well put... Linda; I remember buying my Mother of the Bride dress for my DD's wedding (#1) it was such fun.. and WE get to share it with you! I still have my MOTB dress, perhaps I'll bring it on the trip... it should fit me again Then we can spill some wine on it!!! Janet's buying YOURS:thumbup: Stephanie; are you coming on the trip??? Phyl are you getting excited too???
  9. Karri you made your run... we are all so proud of you... now take care of the leg/foot!!! O.k.??? Janet: Glad you won some $$$ dosn't that feel awesome!! Now you'll have more to spend at M of A.. It is getting so close and I am so excited to get to meet you all in person.
  10. You look awesome! I loved that picture... now i know I'll be able to recognise you when I get off the boat in Milwalkee
  11. Hi Kari No I am not a smoker.... so WE should get along just fine... Linda tells me that the driving time across Micchigan to Muskegan is 3 1/4 to 4 hours... perhaps that's in your tolerance time line LOL... if not feel free to SLEEP while I drive.. I will not be insulted in the least. AS long as I can still have my radio/CD's on...??? I booked my passage on the ferry... I am 52 so I don't think I'll pass for the 65... GOD, at least I don't hope so??? My fare was $140 incl taxes. TIMES ARE FROM Muskegon to Milwaukee Thurs. 7/24/08 @ 4:45 p.m. arrives in Milwaukee at 6:15 p.m. Coming back... Milwaukee leaves 12:30 p.m. Mon 7/28/08 and arrives on the michigan side at 4:pm... Now you should check with LindaA to see if it o.k. with her to crash at her place overnight going and coming back... that's not up to me of course...
  12. Hi gang; Happy FRIDAY Well, gotta go to work shortly... Kari, what do you mean about not being a car rider??? I am confused... Are you anxious in the car? Or do you just like Driving better than passengering??? Are you a non-smoker???
  13. Hi Kari YES, if you decide you can do it... then PM me your street address and phone numbers... I'll program them into my GPS and Cell phone and then I won't get lost picking you up!!! I completly forgot to CONGRATULATE you on your huge goal of 101... that is awesome!!! Fantastic news
  14. Hi Lisa, I am so sorry to hear you are having some complications... I am guessing that it is something like adhessions too... Keep us posted, we care :blushing:
  15. Glad your get together went well.. I tried to get something together for us folks north of the GTA but alas no luck ... O/T... did you know that TLBC has a new General Manager as of this week??? I went in for a slight de-fill and met the Custodian staff manager and she was just getting ready for an interview with the new GM... :blushing:
  16. Janet; 150 wow, you look so good... and I finally think I can do it too!! Linda; thanks for the cheers, I was just busting this morning... had to tell the world.... Oh and thanks for the Emails, the MofA trip is really looming ahead and I am getting real excited now.. I handed in my Calander of events for July to the Clinic and it makes it all seem real now...:blushing: Karri, I just admire the fact that you HAVE TO exercise everyday now... its become a PART of you.. just like the old food habits WERE, but Now you do something possitive and different... and look how your body is thanking you!!! I'll probably never be a runner, but I just finished 1 hour and 10 mins of biking with my DH... it was so much fun... the second time this week that I've done it... My V-jay-jay is not toohappy today, but the sweating felt so good in the breeZe. Tomorrow I'm off to Walmart to buy a GEL seat cover for my bike and possibly a helmet too. See what your leading by example has done!!!!
  17. Kari, you are in MICHIGAN??? God girl you just gotta come that weekend!! You can share rooms with Linda and I... we have two beds but i am sure we can arrange a roll-a-way or pull out couch... thnk about it o.k.?? Later babes, I'm at work right now@!!!:Angel_anim:
  18. o.k. check the ticker again.... ahemmm.... tada ....180 this fine Thursday morning!!! Just "Peachy"
  19. Hi Janet; whoa did I miss something??? I NEVER have considered any of your comments untoward... Perhaps someone just needs a good nap? :tt1: WE LOVE YOU, more than better!!! :tt1:
  20. Weird how I didn't "hear" the instructions about the spicy food before... but then its taken me almost a year to get to restriction....
  21. I promise, I have had ONLY liquids all today... and I have consumed 680 cals... and 70 g protien...
  22. Janet: No its not been bugging me... I was quite happy with my fill of last week the 1/4 cc.... put me to 7.25 in a 10 cc band... but yest. my DH and I went out afor dinner to Chinese buffet... I was good! I ate 3 chicken wings, veggies, 1 egg roll and 1/2 cup of Hot & Sour Soup... WELL... the Hot and Sour soup was REALLY Spicy! More than usual, and when I swollowed I noted that it was prickly on my band... now I wasn't stuck or anything... (ate at about 6 p.m) I go to bed 10 ish... I awoke 2 hours later choking on my own spit!! So I went and took a gaviscon and a sip of water, went back to bed... two hrs later... same thing... more choking, coughing... just couldn't swallow spit when I lyed down. So after flopping and flipping I got up and sat in my Lazy Boy recliner with a quilt to sleep sitting up... no luck there either... I was kind of frigtened too. Ssankofa: My fill was fine for the past 6 days, then this soup fiasco.. My Fill Nurse said to me today, when she De-filled my 1/4 cc... You are at your Sweet Spot ( I lost 2 lbs this wk) and that Spicy soup just irritated your BAND.. You have to stop eating spicy foods now that you have adequate restriction, as if the band is irritated it swells.... and in my case swoll shut... So, I must be more careful from now on. Another thing she told me (which I did not previously know) is that when you get a fill, you have to have Full Fluids the rest of the day... NO solid food at all. Also, the same rule applies if you have a day where you PB, once you've gotten stuck on something and PB'd, then NO MORE SOLIDS that day... go to Full Liquids only for at least 24 hours to let the band Settle down the swelling again thats created when you PB and produce excess Stomach Juices... Who'd a thunk... was I the only one that didn't know this?????
  23. Well last night was no picnic I was awakened every 2-3 hours choking... on my own Spit!!! God it was frightening... So I called the clinic this a.m. and drove 2 1/2 hours for a de fill BRB
  24. Hey Janet;; She's back!!!! Linda that is YEAH~~~ Way to go, you are looling hot, hot, hot I am going to sound like a broken record after Phyl's message... I was very depressed too when my Daughter left home for Europe, and then onto University. The first 2 weeks she was gone all I did was strip wallpaper and paint... I had the whole lower floor of our house redecorated by the time she got home from France. Then at University, she was only 50 km away and and sometimes would come home for weekends but it was still aweful! My only child and I had "empty nest syndrome"... like Phyl says... not pretty. I'd ask my husband, how come you are o.k.??? Don't you miss her??? Are you heartless and cold??? Dh (being the wise one) says to me. Look what did we plan on doing for the last 18 yrs? Raising a social invalid??? We did a good job if she is independant, smart, going to school, living on her own, working putting herself thru University... what more could you want??? He was right... we don't possess our children, we are stewards of them until they take their place in the world.. its "our" gift to future generations... Hugs Linda, I know it hurts:crying:
