  1. Dear BlueEyedBaby; Welcome to BANDSTER HELL!! Been there, done that & have the Tshirt & Extra lbs... LOL I feel for you! But don't despair your 1st FILL will clear that problem right up! I figure, enjoy your food for the next wk or so... don't PIG out or anything... but if you have a favorite..have it now... cause it'll be BYE BYE soon enough. THe weeks of healing after surg. and before FILL are just for THAT ! Healig... it is not the weightloss time... I was down 17 lbs. post surg while I was on liquids, then as soon as I started eating Solids my appetite returned - big time.. very hard to control. So be gentle with yourself, what you are experiencing is text book signs. Hang in and look forward to your 1st fill.
  2. Is it common for your Stomach "Noises" to wake you up at night...??? I was at work the other day and the gal sitting at the next computer turned and said "wow, you'd better eat something you sound starved"! its really weird? I dont' remember being this noisy before surgery? Not that its a huge problem, I am still happy for the restriction and weight loss. :rain:
  3. Hi there, I just had my first fill (six wks post op) and it went very easily. Its just a tiny needle and I didn't feel it. She found my PORT easily too, she had to tell me when it was done and to get off the table... (I don't like to look LOL) Drinking the Water afterwards in the reception room was a bit weird though. My first 'sip' was about a teaspoon of water and I thought THAT was going to get stuck! But it did go down, and subsequent sips went down easier with each swallo... I had to drink a whole 500ml bottle before they let me drive home . Eating, oh yeah, I DO feel restiction.... Could only eat 2 oz of meat, and some veg. about 3/4 cup of food. But this a.m. I was able to eat 1 cup of oatmeal & 1/2 apple & skim milk. lunch was tuna salad 3 oz. and yogurt... tonight I am having Coq au Vin... a recipe I found on SPARKPEOPLE.com Its a great site for tracking your cal. nutricion, excersise, measurements, weight goals etc... check it out FREE~
  4. Its funny how Dr's orders differ. At my Clinic they said that we can drink our Water right up to when we start eating... but once we start the meal NO MORE Water for at least 30 mins. after your last bite of dinner... It really does take some getting used to...
  5. Sweet4life; Dosn't it just SUCK the way our appetite comes back after we've been on solids!! (Pre fill) I'm doing o.k. now 2 days after 1st fill... Ate o.k. yesterday tuna, puddings, mushy veggies and chicken breast, yogurt... plus my Water and some decaf coffee. This a.m. I had Large Flake oatmeal with 1/2 Apple chopped up in it while it was cooking, skim milk on top. About a cup of hot Cereal... it was good... I "wanted" to eat more, but stopped when I got that "soft full" feeling. No burping or PB'ing or slimming.. doing just great Good luck!
  6. LeslieLee; I am curious why are you referring to a forum for a weightloss drug??
  7. Oh Donna, my weight is not melting off... my 240 start wgt is NOT what I started at in my Band Journey. I had lost the first chunk (lol) by WW, Hypnosis, Meridia, excersise etc. but then after a whole year of plateauing I got scarred that I was going to put my 50 back on plus more!(again, like I've always done in the past) So that's when I made up my mind to do the Lap band once and for all, so in my signature, you'll see 240/190ish/ my current wgt today/ and my goal of 130... So there you have it in a nutshell
  8. It dosn't seem that long ago that I was a "virgin" too (Donna you made me laugh!) I quess I am a FILL VIRGIN as I just got my top up yesterday at TBLC Everything went well, and I am eating ever so gently today... Scrambled egg at 6 a.m. and now a Pudding/w Pro. powder... I am looking forward to TUNA salad at lunch (can't beleive I am looking forward to fish?) but the more experienced bandsters say fish is tolerated well and is moist. Getting in all the Water is tricky, as I am used to just Chugging it all down. Oh well, lots of NEW habits to learn for us all. Good luck on your journey, and post often... I love coming onto this site. as it keeps BOTH my hands busy [wink, wink] and my computer is far away from the fridge LOL :heh:
  9. Hi there, I said I'd post later when I'd actually eaten something. I had 1/2 of a scrambled XL egg this a.m. with a titch of ketchup - ate very slowly... and it WAS good. right now I am eating 1/3 cup Choc SSFF pudding with my antidepressant sprinkled on it(creative huh?) plus I added some Protein powder to my pudding mix... just to boost it up a bit. Pudding is going down fine. I've had about 3 glasses of Water Later babes
  10. You never need to appologize about THOSE pictures.... they are awesome!! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! Your hard work has paid off... keep up the good work, you are inspiring to all us Lappers who have just started our journey.
  11. Yes, I am going to try and make the Sept. lunch... I just need the street address of the rest. so that i can MAP Quest it for myself. I am NOT fan of driving in T.O. but I am learning... if I have good instructions then i am o.k. I just stay away from the 400 , 401, 407 and the 403 LOL!!!
  12. KERO; Sorry, got trigger happy there LOL I forgot you asked about eating. I havn't tried yet... you only get liquids for teh rest of the day (FILL DAY) and I havn't had breaky yet, just got up... sipping on my first bottle of Water for the day as I type. But I am looking forward to scrambled eggs. I go back to TBLC in Sept11th for my next fill. About taking time off work to go back for each fill.... that's something you'll have to decide... one lady I met yest got a CD for her Physician. Her family Dr. agreed to do her subsequent fills in HIS office in her home town.. its an option. Personnally, I want to go back to the clinic - they are the experts as far as I am concerned and I want their follow up... I paid for it!!! Now that I have made the drive and know my "route" it'll be a snap next time. I can't begin to tell yu the confidence driving there yesterday gave me.... Take care, and try not to worry... We are all here for one another to answer questions and offer support
  13. Hi Kero Don't be nervous. It wasn't as stressful as the 'idea' of driving into T.O. for me anyways. The nurse has you lay back on a bed/couch/examining table, very comfortable. You raise your arms over your head to stretch out your tummy skin as much as possible and then she swabs with alchohol and I didn't even feel the needle. REALLY!!!! It was so fast I couldn't beleive it.!! I think the needle is so fine that it was painless. She had to tell me that "its done, you can go now".. If you got the MIDBAND French band like I did then it holds 9.5 cc's in total. I got 5 cc, which is what most folks start with and then they adj. up from there on subsequent visits. IF YOU NEED IT. Some people have enough restriction after one visit. But I don't think that is average. 2 to 3 fills is average and some people need 4 or 5... You will just never know and have to play it by ear.. everyone is an individual, you have to remember that and be flexable. There were 7 or 8 of us getting filled yest. and one gentleman couldn't tolerate the 5 cc. He was sipping his Water, slowly,, but it wouldn't go down .... it trickled down his 'opening'... after a couple of minutes he said to me " I am getting this thick saliva bubbling up".... He was "slimming" that's a body's signal that you are "stuck".... I told him to see the nurse right away ( I was scheduled to fill next but gave hilm my spot) and get a little taken out.. It took seconds for this adj. they took out 1/2 to 1 cc... and then he was fine again...

  16. Well, today was a huge experience for me... First of all I DROVE into Toronto all by myself and I am SO happy that I was able to do it. I took a leisurley route and did just great.. Got to the clinic 2 hours early but that's o.k. I had lots of time to relax. The seminar was very informative...( we sure were a questioning bunch) but took longer than I had thought.. I was 2nd to last in getting my fill ( then I had to sit there and "sip" my Water bottle. That first "SIP" is really the hardest.. can't even begin to discribe the queer feeling that you get when you think 'water' will not even go down. BUT, it did I just took REALLY small sips (teaspoon) and then it got progressively better and easier... My drive home went well and I just finished 1/2 cup of beef consumme... it was WARmed so it went down easily too. Whew, glad that today is done. Grateful
  17. Kathy, congrats on the adoption date... that is indeed a reason to celebrate!!! Enjoy your new kitchen. I am leaving in a few minutes to DRIVE to Toronto for my 1st fill... I;ll post later and fill you in (dah!)
  18. Hi there; I was banded 11 July, and I go for my 1st fill tomorrow!!!! I can hardly wait as I am HUNGRY too. At first I did Clear Liquids 4 days, then FULL liquids 14 days, then SEMI Soft food 14 days. Then SOLIDS.... I am able to eat ANYTHING right now and I hate it... this is what is known as Bandster Hell.... aptly named LOL. I did cheat abit on MUSHIE foods and switched to solids 4 days earlier than I was supposed to, but I was on Vacation at a cottage and I figured what the heck.... it was hard with communal meals with other NON bandsters. I am looking forward to my fill and hopefully I'll have some restriction.. so I can get this SHOW ON THE ROAD! Good luck to all.
  19. Do you know the Street Address so that I can MAP Quest it for directions??? Thanks a heap
  20. Sunshine; I too am so sorry to hear about your Pet passing away.. How aweful... I have two Jack Russell terriers and I almost cryed when I read that post. They are JUST LIKE your CHILDREN and the loss is significant. You have my heart felt sympathies... HUG your other pouchie extra hard tonight (((hugs))) Peaches
  21. oh my Gosh, your Weight LOSS has been awesome for 5 weeks... You are doing Great!!! The calories that you are sticking to are controlled, and you are eating all the right things!!! ( I wish I had been that good ;-((( ) I have my fill on Mon 27th and right now I can't fill myself at all between meals my stomach is RUMBLING all the TIME.... I just had TUNA for lunch, 2 eggs for Breaky, then some more TUNA for a snack at 4:20 and I'm ready to EAT again!!! Oh drat!!! But DH is taking me out tonight for dinner as it's my BD next wk and I'll have had my fill by then... and hopefully I will be restricted and NOT able to eat a whole lot anymore... YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING.... you rock!
  22. Donna D; Hey there, How are you doing since you got your PORT moved??? I've been delinquent in reading the posts.... trying to catch up tonight. (((hugs))) Peaches
  23. Did I read that right? You got banded July 21 and you've already had a fill??? Wow, I am having to wait 6 wks before my first fill.
  24. Hi there, and welcome to the boards.!! I was banded 11 July and so I am six weeks out and expecting my first "FILL" Monday 27th Aug. The surg. was a breeze, only discomfort for me was the Gas pains for 2 days after. But that was easily controlled by walking and tylenol.. I didnt' need anything stronger for pain... I feel very fortunate be have been able to get this surg. and would do it again in a second. keep reading and ask LOTS of questions.
  25. Oh My my TUMMY is rumbling as I type this... I had a can of tuna 45 mins. ago and I'm hungry again already!!! I have my fill on Monday and I have been going over the driving directions all day. ( I am a timid driver in Toronto) and will be avoiding all the highways.. I am planning to allow 3 hrs for my trip so it should be o.k. I am so looking forward to some restriction. This past 6 wks has been a challenge and I am SO looking forward to LOSING SOME WEIGHT... I know it will happen, I just gotta get thru a couple more days of Bandster hell. LOL I was reading the posts about the little boy "Hunter" and his preschool testing. Man-o-man when will the 'system' stop trying to lump our kids all into the same mold. Sheesh, I only had one daughter (now 29) and so certainly "I" am no expert... but kids are INDIVIDUALS with their own gifts, talents and shortcomings... Thank GOD we are all not destined to be Pro Baseball or Football players??? I am SURE that your child will grow into a Loving, caring compationate person -- that's what matters, not weather they can catch a bean bag.. My DD was very uncoordinated athletically (got that from her DAD) but she is a WIZ at computers, great with people and is now a Computer Analyst working for Univ. Of North Carolina!!! Now this is a kid that FLUNKED math classes all thru High School!!! Go figure, once she got to university.... she applied herself and SHONE. Now, she still can't catch a bean bag or do a cartwheel to save her life.. but who cares. Oh yeah, also Her Kingergarden teacher thought she was NOT doing well in Kind. and called me to the school to tell me she was a LOW performer... Ha,ha,ha... guess "we" had the last laugh as parents. We are proud as hell and YOU will be TOO!!! Best of luck & HUGS!~
