Psyc eval questions
I had to take a 200 question Personality Inventory before the visit. She checked and made sure i'm not that crazy. Asked a lot of the same things the above poster said. She tries to gauge how psychologically ready for the surgery and life change you are.

Hellllllllllp..........
you know what you are doing wrong. (35lbs is not bad progress btw) but you have to stay the course, and stick to the program if you want to continue seeing progress. Sounds a lot like self-sabotage to me, what do you think? How is being overweight serving you? How did you used to use food that you can't anymore? I would suggest seeking the help of a bariatric psychologist, as well as an in real life bariatric support group. Just my humble opinion, take it for what its worth.

HELP---Having doubts---pre op
Talk to a bariatric psychologist about your feelings. It is a head thing! Make a list of reasons you want the surgery, and a list of ways being fat is 'serving' you. Compare them and see if you get any revelations.

4 months out and falling off wagon
classic case of self-sabotage. Why isn't important. Do you find yourself constantly thinking about eating? Justifying and rationalizing why you should be allowed to eat certain things? Just some stuff to think about. I would suggest looking into a bariatric support group, a bariatric psychologist, or your local OA faction. You know what you have to do.

Things I will NOT miss about being fat.
I am writing these things down, because I am sure there will be times early post op when I wonder "why did I do this?" This is why: 1. Having to shop from a limited clothing selection. Eff you , size 20, you suck. 2. The feeling of my fat middle squooshing out when I sit down. 3. swolly feet 4. Feeling like the fattest person in the room 5. Being the fattest person in the room 6. Feeling invisible 7. Feeling self conscious and size conscious 8. My stomach touching the table in a restaurant booth 9. Not fitting comfortably in a movie theatre seat 10. Looking at myself in pictures 11. Feeling ugly 12. Body aches, knee aches, hip aches 13. shoes that used to fit, and now are too tight 14. Low energy 15. Not turning heads 16. Looking in the mirror naked 17. clothes that no longer fit. 18. Not being able to wear my rings 19. Being afraid to run into people I haven't seen in a while 20. Not feeling pretty Ok, I only wrote 20. I'm sure there are more. Help me out. Why do you never want to go back?

Is this normal?
Proton pump inhibitor. like omeprazole/ prilosec, etc.
-
pain meds
Most narcotic medications do not contain any blood thinners. Most contain tylenol which is fine. With meds, it is always best to check with your doctor.

Quitting Caffeine ZZZZzzzzzzz!
Thanks, all who have commented. Day 3 so sleepy! Well it's not as sleepy a feeling as it is, foggy, spacey and weird. He'res my advice so far: give up caffeine before you give up motrin! Tylenol just wasn't helping with my headaches. Motrin kicks the headaches ass!

How long will the scars be obvious?
Healing is as individual as we are. Over time they will fade, but there is no "normal". Some people heal beautifully, some people get horrible keloids. ask your surgeon for a recommendation on what you can use. the products for scar healing like mederma supposedly work ok. It is really one of those things that takes time and acceptance.

Quitting Caffeine ZZZZzzzzzzz!
Surgery is almost 2 months away, but I decided to start knocking out some of my vices. All will have to go, so might as well get going. Sunday was my first day without my favorite caffeine source, Monster Energy. I have had a 3 a day habit for a few years now. Yeah, I know that's terrible. I got down to 2/ day and Sunday was the first day with none. Mild headache all day, but not too bad. Still headachy on and off today, but totally do-able. Next: carbonation, ibuprofen and smoking! one day at a time

Addiction
it's very common. more common than people think. I haven't had surgery yet, but I have a history of addiction with over 3 years clean and in recovery. no reason to be ashamed, and it's awesome that you're recognizing that you might be having an issue. flush the pain meds and no drinking. talk to someone you trust. attend some 12 step meetings (narcotics anonymous, alcoholics anonymous, overeaters anonymous etc) and find some support. you are welcome to message me anytime. there are quite a few ppl on this site that have had issues with addiction/ coping. I wish you luck.

Thinning Hair and Hair Extensions?
permanent extensions do damage your hair. I wear clip in extensions (real remy hair/ color matched) that my stylist recommended. They are pretty easy to put in and super low maintenance. you can even have them cut or colored to match your hair. I always wear them to my stylist and she trims them too.

I need serious help with support
as well as jmacvg's comments above, I would recommend checking out your local OA chapter. More frequent meetings and the kind of support you're probably looking for.
