Since keeping your calories the same doesn't work, and bumping your calories up doesn't work, I would try lowering your calories. Maybe go down to 1100 or 1050 and see if that helps. You might also want to check out the Veterans' forum here and look for the thread on 5:2 intermittent fasting -- looks like a lot of people do well with that. Good luck!

Thanks for the notes guys!! My one way ticket into the hospital didn't pan out. Thank goodness. Test was negative. They think the pain is leftover from knee surgery last October. Although they DID say something very important today at the doctors....
DVTs are most likely to occur in the 2nd and third weeks. So as someone with a history of blood clots, I need to keep movin' this week!

I weigh myself about every four days or so I guess. There's no point. I know I am in a stall, and I know I am greatly limiting my caloric intake. So for sure I will lose --- eventually. I guess I weigh myself when another new piece of clothing fits. Lol. I know that sounds dumb, but when that happens, then I am curious.

Well I am pretty much positive I just invented the 6 day stall. Not joking. Six days after surgery I had lost a STUPID amount of weight... Like 19 lbs. and since then, not another pound. Regardless of the fact that I have only been eating about 500-600 calories of Water and Protein Shakes. Not one single more pound. And it's been four more days.
There is NO WAY my body isn't using these fat stores to keep everything going --- especially since I am only providing 500 calories a day and am trying to walk/move where possible.
So yep, I'm betting money I discovered the world's shortest six day stall.
Don't doubt yourself.... To not lose would defy physics. If you use more than you eat, you will lose --- eventually.
    Have faith.

It happened to me too. You might care now, but you won't when you're in there. It doesn't phase them because they see it all the time, and given the amount of medication you'll be on, they could practically give you a bedside enema and you'd not care/forget... It's the hospital. They have a "we won't tell, you won't remember" policy. It'll be okay. Trust me.

Ten days ago I weighed in at the hospital at 243. Six days later (when I was finally feeling okay) I thought, "let's jump on the scale and see what is happening". It read 224.
I about died. 19lbs in six days.
I don't know if I had a heavy stomach organ.... Or what. Lol! But after reading this thread, that seems very abnormal. Since then, I have lost about a pound. (Stall?) I get my Protein and Water in, so that can't be it.
I'm anxious to hear what the doc says when I meet with them on Monday.

Elizabeth.... Man, do I feel for you. That is a hard situation to be in. I remember college. It is hard for sure.
May I gently suggest that you go attack the mental side of this for a bit? It might help to prepare yourself mentally for your surroundings (which are tough for sure). There are triggers why we eat... And we all have them. I think that figuring those out might help you with your issues more than anything.
You are only 21 and have so many wonderful years ahead of you.
    I truly wish you luck.

For the first time ever in my life, I put on a pair of dress pants, and they literally floated on me so much I couldn't walk out of the room without them falling down. What an amazing feeling! I think it's today that I finally realized how much I lost!

Yes, I agree with you for sure... The weight loss is kind of a bit SCARY! I lost 21 lbs in six days. I mean really, how much can a stomach weigh??? (That was a joke, btw).
This weight loss solution is truly extreme --- on all levels!

Please do something for me! I know as we get further in our recoveries, we will post here less & less. Would you please follow me on my blog, email or fb? I don't want to lose touch with my newfound friends & fellow March Sleevers! I started my blog when I got the LapBand, I have had weekly posts & weigh-ins since 2009. There are so many others on our path who share their advice & experiences with me. Do you have a support system in place? I would love to stay buddies!!

That's actually a very good way to describe the full feeling! And I hear ya about the Premier Protein.
So mashed potatoes are a no go. I gained a lb overnight after eating them. I think it has to do with the starvation mode kicking in, my body is storing fat wherever it gets it.
Right now I am eating a little bit of scrambled eggs with a pinch of shredded cheese and some fresh salsa. Soo good. lunch is a hit and miss... usually I am still too full from my egg to even think about lunch. I had some no sugar added applesauce earlier so this might hold me until dinnertime. We are meeting some friends at Chik-Fil-A (YIKES! Eating out sucks.) They have some chicken Soup that I plan on sipping the broth out of.

You aren't rambling at all. Love to hear how everyone is doing. It feels good to know there are others out there.
Yesterday, it was like someone flipped a light switch at about 3pm. I suddenly had energy and felt great. I mean GREAT. (Well, not Deluded great...lol. But like really good peppy great.) it was two hours or so after I had my Iron pill, and I made sure to take it with practically zero Calcium (hard to do) and a Vitamin C. Words cannot express how much better I feel! ( I am writing this at 5am... Got up without an alarm). I'm wondering if the iron finally kicked in. They say it takes a few days to a week. Before then, I felt like something the cat dragged in. If I was up moving, I just felt confused and like I wanted to pass out.
I'm not even going to comment on your weather! Lol. It is 17 degrees and MI is still covered in crater sized potholes. I drive a big truck and they still jar you so bad they rattle your teeth. Good grief.
So I figured out a way to describe this new feeling to my husband... "You know when you are at Maggiano's (amazing multi course meal with a trillion calories) and you are at the end, are so so so full, and they bring out the Desserts and set them down in front of you? Now, there is no way that bite is gonna fit...but you take that bite anyway and you can feel it on the tippy top of your stomach? It's like that --- all the time." And that he could understand.
Lastly, I have to say without Premier Protein shakes, I would be toast. They have 30g of Protein and are small. I must admit they are getting to be gross. But I'm not aware of anything else that comes close to that protein density, so I will continue to "chug em" down. (At the rate of one per half hour. Ugh) anyone with tiny yet protein packed shake ideas.... I would live to hear them!
One week ago I was getting ready for the hospital. Feels like a lifetime ago in some ways. Wow. My turn to apologize for the rambling now!
    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Thanks everyone! Cannot believe 7 days ago I was on my way to hospital for surgery!
Day 6 was definitely the most painful. I think the gravity affect is causing the abdominal wall pain. The gas is the extreme shoulder pain.
Today's goal: sipping a full Protein Shake, not just 4oz. Protein protein protein, walk walk walk.

I agree, day 6 was sort of a turning point. I hope you feel better. I had gas but to me that wasn't as bad as the pain from coughing, moving.
I really feel good today after my first day at work. Hit all my goals and wasn't too tired. I was surprised.
Michigan, home of the 5foot pothole. I don't miss that!

My neck pain was constant from day 2. Got worse with day 3&4 and by 5 my arm, neck and should ACHED. I treated with liquid Tylenol which I found at CVS. I actually wound up sleeping a lot day 5, (was a rough day in general) and when I woke up on day 6, I felt tons better.
I have been trying to max out Protein intake to help healing along. It hurts so bad when I hit these huge Michigan potholes with my car. I'll basically do anything to get my stomach to heal so that stops....
Hope that you feel better very soon...
Once you get rid of that gas, you should be golden.

Had my surgerythis morning. Everything went well and I'm settled into my hospital room. The operation took just under two hours. When I woke up in recovery it was like waking from a nap. I had some pain in my stomach. Not horrible, they gave me a pain med in my iv, then I felt fine. I was slightly nauseous, so they gave me a med for that and I haven't felt nauseous since. Then I started getting the uncomfortable gas in your body feeling (which I knew would happen because of the air they pump into your diaphragm during surgery.) It was particularly in my chest. But once again, I told them and they had a med for it! About four hours since those meds, started getting a little pain back. It hurts most when I laugh or get up, but overall I am feeling really good!! I have been wide awake, my family can't believe how good I am doing. Just wanted to let everyone know how it went. Hopefully I don't sound too loopy. I'll update you again soon. Happy to be on the wat to healing!

What a difference a day makes! Today was day 6 and the gas pains are gone. Those things hurt like the dickens! So glad they are gone when I woke up!
They have been replaced with a chill. Not like a little chill...more like a "I am never ever gonna get warm despite this mountain of blankets" kind of chill. I am embarrassed to say I took three showers to warm up today. I googled it and I guess it's common due to loss of Ghrelin. Then I found this link:
    http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/183530-ghrelin-and-sleep-and-heat-regulation/
As I venture to work tomorrow morning for the first time since surgery, I am sure to dress like I am from the Arctic Circle. Sheesh.
I hope everyone is feeling okay this evening....

You got a double whammy being cold with living in Detroit! I'm in TN now but I've had empathy for all my fam and friends up there this winter. You sure it's not a fever though? I'm cold but I can usually get ok with enough layers. I love my hot shower more than ever now!

After reading so many posts I'm counting my blessings. Today is day 10 for me. I've have zero head or physical hungry. The only real problem is I can't tolerate cold drinks/shakes, Jello etc. My only source of Protein has been from Isopure drinks and what little amount that comes from Soup. So I sip that, Water and Gatorade 2 all day. I did experience vomiting once trying to take the liquid antibiotics I need for H. Pylori. It all came up and was the worse experience since I got sleeved. Instead of throwing a pity party the next time I run out of pain meds I'm going to remember that experience. The pain I feel is more tolerable then any constant nausea. That is true misery. I can almost understand why some regret surgery when they have to deal with that often. I consider myself a lucky Sleever in the recovery process. Hope it stays that when I transition over to pureed/soft foods tomorrow.

We have to conquer our head hunger if we are to be successful & it scares me. The smell of certain foods still make my mouth water, of course I know I'm not hungry, it's in my head. But it's not stopping me from wanting it. Being around foods is still going to be a battle, we will have to keep reminding ourselves it's not real hunger.
