3 month checkup 46 pounds since surgery; 73 pounds since first visit with the surgeon, think I had a vampire though on lab work, 9 vials of blood drawn

Not much chatter here, I have my 106 day post op check in with the Doc on Friday the 13th. Kind of hard to believe the difference in the last 5 months since I had my first appointment with my surgeon.

Sorry to go back to the original topic here, but beyond all of the other advice here. If you are complaining about having to eat the cheap food, stop buying the alcohol and spend that cash to buy better quality food. It doesn't have to cost a lot to eat good, it takes thought and will power to make good decisions, like not buying bad things like cereal and alcohol. -

My surgeon is a wonderful guy, He could have put a lot more bandages on my stomach and I'm sure he would have had a good laugh. His attitude was such a positive motivator to have the surgery. My progress is continuing a little slower that I'd like but it continues. Daily step on to the scale can be a bummer but writing it down only every week or every other week makes me realize just how much I'm loosing. Realistic 6 month goal maybe 75 - 90 pounds basically 13 pounds every 4 weeks. -

Thinking of this change as a 180 degree change on a compass I've passed 360 lbs. and so everything from here on out is changing he direction that the compass points. Working for a 180 degree change so maybe my goal should be 180 lbs. Weight is not falling off as fast as I'd like but it's falling off every month :-)

My surgeons self pay option was like 13K complete Riverside Surgical & Weight Loss center Sebastian Florida. All fees & 2 nights in the hospital at that rate. -

Time off for desk jobs?

Mine is mostly a desk job, surgery on Thursday, felt ready to go back Monday, but took the 1st week off and went back 1/2 days the 2nd week. At home I was on the computer doing my own things and walking starting the Saturday after surgery. Your mileage will vary. -

Right out of surgery: how much walking is enough?

I started walking around the unit, but I didn't have much pain, 1st steps out of the room was a walk (okay a shuffle) around the unit, maybe 5 minutes, second time out was 2x around, next morning was 3, and eventually up to 5x around before being dismissed about 5 PM. Walks at home continued, starting around the block at 1/2 of a mile. continued increasing to 2 miles 1/2 a mile at a time, so for September it was about 40 miles, about 18 hours of walking for the month. It was a good change, my wife and I walked together, first time in years do to a regular activity together. -

Why, well I yo-yo'ed for years, and could loose the 1st half but never the 2nd half, with this tool I feel my odds of loosing all of it are much more likely. A year a go I would have said no way, 6 months ago I would have said hmmm. The seminar was a way to placate somebody else, well at least that is what I thought. I met an excellent surgeon and critical mass of others who had done WLS must have been met because I committed to it after that seminar, for the purpose of having a better 2nd half of life.
