7/17. Down 19.2, 26 inches lost. That is 4.8 lbs avg per week loss in 1 month! Why does everyone say I've only lost this much or that much? Everyone is different. I feel great and am proud of my numbers. People are ticking me off saying oh ... You're just a slow loser. I don't think this is slow. Just saying.

I went through the burping big time - of course for a guy, it's cool - you can burp and be all proud, but for the more genteel ladies it is a bit of a problem. For me it went a way but not for a good while and every once in a while - with milk particulalry - I still get it. I can tell the second I swallow that there is a burp stuck in behind it.
Once you get to the better pureed stuff - a few more weeks? - it's not so bad. We think it all has to be things that are all oft and mushy from the start - WRONG - it just has to be all smushy when you eat it. I loved that stuff - you would be amazed at what you can put in a food processor and eat as a paste - and it still tastes right. Spaghetti and meatballs - looks nasty - tastes just right. chicken and rice, brocolli cheese Soup with real pieces of brocolli all ground up, meatloaf, chicken breast and mashed potatoes; eggs with a little ground turkey sausage, cut the crusts off make some low fat french toast and blend that stuff up - looks aweful, but tastes great. It was playing with new thing and finding some great ones that made eating still a bit fun, even if I only ate a little and even if if was mushed up like a baby's. I will admit not everything works - lots of disasters - I pretty much would put whatever my wife was eating into the blender and see what happened - sometimes it tasted as bad as it looked - but it still made that difficulat transition period a bit easier.
You do not get to eat much, but it is good to try things (when you are ready) that will give you some satisfaction.

One thing we all need to remember, the scale does NOT rule our lives. We lose inches as well as pounds. We put too much emphasis on the scale, so do our doctors.
For one of my appointments they were unhappy I hadn't lost in the 4 weeks since my previous appointment. I looked the RN in the eye and said "perhaps I haven't lost pounds, but I dropped a pant size and I can walk long distances without being winded". She smiled and realized there are non scale victories too. We all want the numbers for our books, for their books.. PFFT !! To hell with that i say!
The first time I could tie my shoes withouth being winded, THAT was a victory. Fitting on the rides at 6 flags with my children for the first time EVER, THAT was a victory. Fitting on the seats in the plane, THAT was a victory.
Please don't focus on the scale... look at all the small things going on. I bet your panties are rolling down right now because they're too big! Your belt is at it's last eyelet because it's too big!
Keep up the good work and don't stress. Stress is an enemy in the fight for weight loss!

Hi my name is ladyRider, I had a lap band for 5 years, with a bad outcome. I started my process in may of 2013. I jumped through all the hoops. Was denied by my insurance at first re submitted and was Approved the 2 nd time. My sleeve date was August 19,2013 almost two weeks out, lost 15 pounds ( I think it's all the food my body has been holding on to) feeling good, one day at a time, slow and steady

Hello I just joined this support group. I have been reading the forums for a couple of months now and have appreciated all the info, so I figured I should join, so I can encourage others too! My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 4. I am super excited and also nervous. More excited than nervous though I start my pre surgery diet in 2 days. I wasn't overweight all my life, but it was a struggle to stay close to my goal weight. As I got older it got worse. I have high cholesterol and blood pressure and was recently diagnosed with Rhematoid Arthritis. I jut graduated as an RN in May and will be starting a new job 3 weeks after surgery, so hopefully all goes well.

Yep, I understand. I've scheduled all mine close together to get it done and over with as quickly as possible. My insurance will pay for it, but I have to do three separate months of visits, my initial consult with the doc 8/15 is one, NUT eval on 09/11 counts as #2 and then NUT eval on 10/1 counts as the third. They are waiting for my cardio appt to submit paperwork to insurance... Doc says I should be able to get surgery early October (fingers crossed). It also depends upon the results of my CT Scan & MRI...my oncologist already agreed verbally but wants to submit his written approval after Scans...just to make sure I am truly cancer free...
Just hang in there..it will go quickly.. look at Summer...it's pretty much gone.

Hi! i'm JewelJ I just joined tonight. I have a different story. I am 60yrs old. I had a Lapband done in 2007. after it was done I felt that I did well. I took off about 35lbs. Than stopped for two months.
Than started to lose again. I took off another 20lbs. But than just stayed the same. Last Aug my husband was told he had Alzheimer's Disease so now i'm a caretaker and my world has been crashing with changes. Over this past year I put on mabe 20lb , than took off 8lb. It seems to be harder to work with as I get older. I can't move as well as I use to. I have had mgr Back surgery since the Band and I have two plates of metal in my back as well as 8 screws. I can still walk with my two small dogs and my Grand Daughters. I will always take the last parking place in the parking lot just to make myself walk more. But I have a lot of arthritis from driving a School bus for 25 years. So my same Doctor talk to me about taking out the Band and doing the Gastric Sleeve that I might have more success and be able to walk more as the weight came off, and one thing might help the other. So the first thing he did was get approval to have two operations. the surgeon feels that he has to go in and take the band out and have me heal and have good tissue grow before he can do this surgery. So I will have this band taken out on Oct 9th. Than by Jan 2014 I can have the Gastric Sleeve done. He said he is not going to staple bad tissue and have a problem with it. So that is my story.. I hope I can work this board and get the info that I need. Thanks for the welcome. It would be nice to know if anyone else on here has had a Lapband and went to the Gastric Sleeve, and how did they make out??? Thanks again.. JewelJ

Today marks 7 months from my operation. This is the best thing that could have happened to me for weight loss. I started with 257lbs back in January 29th. Today I am officially 172lbs. I am extremely happy! I would recommend this surgery to anyone.

I'm using the time to try shakes and different Soups and yogurts. Then instead of looking forward to the last appointment I plan trips to the beach, concerts, movies. Just had my 21st birthday and I look forward to those that come sooner. And as those go by my last appointment gets closer.

I can relate. I just used the time to focus on my eating and drinking. Trying shakes, looking online at clothes I wanted to try (smaller), places I wanted to go, etc.
I had a 6 month process then got to approval and found out the (original) Dr had another 6-12 months wait due to the waitlist. I got fed up and picked another Dr at the 4 month mark and they were able to get me in 2 months later.
Looking back it helped to have extra time to prepare for this.

Ever since I made the decision to move forward with getting WLS, time seems to be creeping by. I tried to spread out all of my doctor appointments over two months to make it easier, but a week still feels like a month:(
I want to have all appointments done before my last NUT appt on Oct 25th so that everything can be submitted to insurance right after, but all I have been able to think about is, "how am I going to wait for another two months find out if I'm approved?"
Has anyone else been a victim of time, and if so, how did you get by without going crazy?

Well what I have been waiting on is now upon me. I go to the hospital at 7am tomorrow morning to start anew. I don't know what these feelings I am have are about and if they are fear or anxiety about tomorrow. I don't know how I am going to get through the day and night. I start work at 12pm and get off at 8pm that really takes up the day but my mind is on the surgery and nothing else. I know I won't be able to sleep and will be up all night. My husband plans to park on the street so he does not have to pay for parking so that means I have to be at the hospital at 6 am so an hour of waiting to check in.
I know I am just over processing this and everything is going to be fine but I wish I could have just got the call at 5am tomorrow to just show up at 7 so I would not have all this time to think. I am really excited that its here and I will be joining the rest of the group on the other side. I have packed already due to the anxiety and wishing it was already here.
I want to say good luck and prayers to all my sleeve sisters and brothers who will be crossing to the post op side tomorrow.
Also good luck and prayers for those going in today.
