I had severe plantar fasciitis prior to surgery. The pain began to subside after two weeks post op. Currently the pain is about 90 percent improved since surgery and I'm a little over 3 months out.

I was pre diabetic with an A1C of 5.9 preop, currently my post surgical A1C stands at 4.7. These numbers reflect average fasting glucose levels of 120 and 90 respectively. Big difference.

No regrets here, had no pain, no nausea, have not vomited one time either. Just had some hot wings (4) from chillies for dinner and they went down fine. I'm almost 9 weeks out and I'm down 63 pounds. Not doing anything was a bigger risk for me. I have three teenagers at home and I kept wondering how my wife was going to explain to my kids that their daddy had died from a heart attack or a stroke because he weighed 300 pounds. Everyone on this site was scared at some point before their surgery, but when you are unhealthy you live in fear everyday. Now for the first time in a long time I truly believe I will live to be an old man. No more fear here.

I have a very similar job and still took three weeks off. It's getting through those food phases and becoming accustomed to what and how much you can eat that would have messed me up had I gone back sooner. By week three I was sure of my diet and what to take with me. The physical stuff, being tired or running out of fuel never was an issue for me.

I would watch my carbs and calories. I stay under 25 carbs and 800 calories daily and don't exercise. although it would help. I've dropped 63 pounds since my preop diet 11 weeks ago.

Btw, I review medical charts for a living and because of that I was able to see my future had I continued weighing 300 pounds. It ain't pretty! Take your time and do your research, talk to your family and let them know how you feel. You will know when it's the right time.

I think the age issue is dependent on your health condition and should be left up to your doctors. This is major surgery and they will want to make sure you are a good candidate. As with any surgery you will need medical clearance from the different medical specialties. Cardiac, endocrine, pulmonary, etc. I wouldn't let my age keep me from seeking out this life saving surgery. It's very possible that a healthier 73 year old would be a much better candidate than a 53 year old who is not.

Hang in there things will keep improving. Fluids can be tough to hit goals early on. If you are urinating regularly than you are getting them in.

I start the low carb diet on Wednesday and liquid diet two weeks after that. Both my wife and daughter will be doing the dieting plan with me. I'm grateful for their support and for the support from this forum since beginning this process in September. My date is January 29th. Best wishes to all my fellow January sleevers.

Hang in there and get back your focus. I gave up beer in August after almost 30 years of drinking it on a regular basis. When I started to lose my focus I thought of my goal and of my wife and kids. Focus on the prize!

Congrats! I received my approval from BCBS Fed before Christmas and I'm scheduled to be sleeved 1/29. Tomorrow I go to hospital for preregistration, labs, EKG, chest X-ray initial dietary program appointment and pulmonary function test. Low carb diet starts next week and two weeks later I start the liquid diet.

I just attended the introduction seminar at the hospital. I'm in the medical field but was educated by the speaker on many things. I'm excited about the thought of finally losing this weight. I hope to learn more from you good folks and share my experiences with the forum as well.
