  1. I'm 4.5 months post op and still struggle with this almost daily. Shopping is tough. You would think it would be awesome, but I have to argue with myself that I don't fit in the 20s anymore, to go for the 12s. And then when they fit, my mind is blown. Another hard thing is taking my pics. I do comparison pics every month and it is the hardest thing in the world. I'm always terrified that it will be "that month" that I'm "found out" and I will see that I really am still 85 pounds heavier. It's so messed up....lol....
  2. I have chosen some close friends to tell, and my family knows. I have only told one person at work - who I consider a friend outside of work - and I do not plan on telling anyone else at work particularly. There are lots of reasons for this....but the biggest one is that I did this for my health, and my health/medical history is really no one's business.
  3. I didn't start until last week (4.5 months post op). But I have to tell you that is my only regret! I feel so amazing when I get to the gym regularly. It has made a huge difference in my morale if nothing else, but it has also kickstarted my weight loss out of a stall. You're so soon after surgery though. Be sure to take it easy and listen to your body.
  4. There are tons of options out there like others have posted. One thing that I love is the BariWise hot chocolate. It is my "treat" on these cold days. And it has only 2 carbs and 15g of Protein. :-)
  5. Mine started lightly around 2.5 months. I thought, ok, this is not bad. Kind of like after having a baby. But then between 3.5-4 months it started falling out fast and furious. I have/had thick curly hair so I don't think it's too noticeable, but I can DEFINITELY tell myself and mostly around the top and hairline. I am HOPING that it stops or at least slows soon and the regrowth helps. I hate even washing it because it freaks me out the amount of hair in my fingers after I am done.
  6. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! I'm sure that you are going to do awesome! Just do what you know you are supposed to be doing after surgery as far as food and exercise and it will all fall into place! I'm so glad I could help. You should check out my blog sometime too. I started blogging at the very beginning of my 9-month pre-op process all the way to now, so it might help you have an idea of what to expect....the good, the GREAT, and the ugly. :-)
  7. Starting challenge: 205 Current weight: 197.4 Loss this week: -4.6 pounds!!!
  8. I posted these on another thread, but what the heck. Here ya go! 4 months post op. Beginning weight 278, current weight 198.
  9. Thank you for the recommendation. I think that is what I will do. They have this cycling/yoga combined class tonight. Maybe I'll give that a try then pick up the running again tomorrow & take Sunday off. Thanks!
  10. Thank you!! :-) I never would have thought I would be motivating someone in weight loss lol
  11. Yeah it's my legs. I think it's probably a good sore. No shooting or sharp pain. Just achey muscle groups. I'm thinking maybe more stretching before and after may help.
  12. I agree. So early in the process your body is still freaking out and trying to figure everything out. I had a 3-week stall right between 3 & 4 months post op and I just decided that i wasn't going to freak out about it because I really had no option but to keep doing the things I knew I needed to do. After 3 weeks the scale started moving fast and furiously again. Hang in there!
  13. Good luck on all of the transitions! You sound like you are very driven, so I'm sure you can do it! I had mine 9/12, right after the beginning of a fall semester in my phd program, and ended up withdrawing from the semester because it was just too much for me in addition to my full time job, kids, and recovering from surgery. I started back this spring though, 4 months post op with no problems at all. :-) Keep up the hard work!
  14. So I started this week training for a 5K and I have been running everyday. I'm SO sore. Like it hurts to walk kind of sore. I'm wondering if this is normal (I haven't exercised in probably 13 years) or if perhaps running everyday is too high impact and I should switch to every other day and do something else in the off days like cycling or a group class or something. What do you all think? What are your exercise routines like?
  15. Hang in there! One day soon you will step on the scale and it the pounds will just start melting away. :-)
  16. Thank you! I've noticed that too about the eyes. It's really interesting.
  17. Thank you! You are right, I am much happier. It strikes me, looking back, how sad I looked in my pre op pics.
  18. Great job...What Did u eat or What are u eating? You guys are awesome and such an encouragement!!! I just took these pics after being in a 3 week stall and was feeling pretty discouraged, so you all are a huge pick-me-up! Thankfully the scale started moving again and I entered ONERDERLAND today. Woohooo!!!! Anyway, to answer your questions...... I use myfitnesspal.com to track EVERY SINGLE THING I eat or drink. It helps me learn what works and what doesn't. I keep it simple really. I stick to my Protein goals (65-75g per day), Water goals (at least 8 8-oz glasses), and keep my carbs 30 or under, and low sugars/fats. As far as exercise, I really am only doing cardio for the time. I'm training for a 5K in April, so that has been my focus.
  19. Click on your name at the top of the screen, go to "my profile" and select "tickers" from the tabs on the left. You can do a weight one, a count down or up from surgery, a bmi one, etc.
  20. So I totally hate taking my monthly progress pics. I don't know why. You would think I would look forward to it. I think I just worry that I won't see any progress and sabotage myself. Anyway..... I took some tonight. I've been wearing the same clothes each time, but I had to wear a different shirt this time because the original one hung off me. SO..... 77.4 pounds later, 55 more to go, here I am at 4 months post op.
  21. Another bad week. I CANNOT wait for this dang stall to break!!! Weight today: 202
  22. I struggle with calories. Most days I don't get up to 65-75 g of Protein because I am too full, and I usually don't make it to other foods either because of that. I'm usually right around 500-600 calories per day. I am also kind of stalled right at 202 as well...lol. it's very frustrating and I'm thinking I probably need to start some exercise to jumpstart things.
  23. Good job! That is awesome and I hope to say the same soon!!! I was losing really easily until about 2 weeks ago. I've been stuck between 203-205 for 2.5 weeks. SOOOOOO very close to the 100's....it's taunting me. I really don't know what else to do except keep focusing on Protein & Water and eventually it has to pick back up again..... Sigh.
