What exactly do you think a "fast loser" is?
I've been using get-to-goal from the beginning. It does help to see averages.

Girls.... that time of the month, do you gain weight?
Same here. Gain a pound or stay the same. SO frustrating to feel like you lose a whole week every month!

How does it feel?
I'm 5 months post op and down 90.6 pounds. It feels.....well pretty amazing! Honestly I feel like a new person. It did take a while for my mind to catch up with my body, and some days I'm not quite there. However, I just think it's completely changed my life. I have more confidence, I feel more empowered, I feel proud of myself that I've taken back control. I also discovered that running is a great way to deal with the stress in my life instead of eating, which was a huge turning point for me emotionally. Just because you have the surgery doesn't necessarily mean all the reasons you are overweight will disappear. For me, finding a new, healthy way to deal with life was key. Good luck!!

5 Months Progress Pics
I thought I would share my progress pics at the 5-month post op mark. I'm so completely happy with my decision to have the sleeve, and - while it was the hardest thing I've ever done - I would do it 50 times over again. So, my stats are that at 5 months post op, I'm down 90.6 pounds and my BMI went from 43.6 down to 29.4. The best thing so far for me has been discovering that I had a runner hidden inside of me. I've found that I really love it, I feel so much more stress-free, and I'm a happier mommy when I get to run. Anyway, I thought I would share, not to brag, but to encourage anyone who just recently had the surgery and is going through that really difficult first couple of weeks, or also anyone who is considering the surgery. Sorry in advance for the not so great pic quality. :-)

St. Patrick's Day Challenge
Doing my first weigh in. Current weight: 187.8 Challenge goal weight: 177 It seem like a random number, but that would put me at 100 pounds lost!! So it's a super meaningful goal. Plus the challenge end date is my 6 month post op point, and I would love to hit 100 lost by then!

Valentine's Challenge

10days post surgery- Tips on soft foods needed!
It's interesting. What works for some does not work for others. It was a long time before I could eat beef (like a meatball or meatloaf) without a lot of discomfort. And for whatever reason, eggs never did and still don't work for me. Also at the beginning chili gave me terrible heartburn. So I guess my point is that I can tell you what worked for me at that stage, but it's trial and error. :-) At the soft foods stage I ate a lot of greek yogurt, low-fat cheese stick, broccoli cheddar Soup (a treat!!), homemade applesauce, fish worked well as a soft food because it basically fell apart in your mouth (not tough seafood like shrimp though), etc.

Critique my daily diet
I agree with Bufflehead. I track every single thing through myfitnesspal. It's also helpful to see the other food logs of sleevers on there as well. I would be lost without it. For me the calories and carbs would be too high too. I'm 5 months post op and range from 500-600 calories and try to limit to 30 carbs. The Protein looks great though!

Sorry. ..must bring it up!
Yep. totally. Never had that problem before the surgery. Colace and Milk of Magnesia works like a charm for me.

St. Patrick's Day Challenge
Happy anniversary! It will be my 6 month sleeve anniversary too!

when do you start to feel better?
I'm sure that the experience is different for everyone, but for me, it took a good 4-5 weeks for me to feel fully back to myself. With that being said, I went back to work after 2 weeks off. That was probably a week or 2 too early in retrospect. I was wiped out exhausted. It will take a couple more weeks, but you will get there! Are you doing b12 injections or anything? Those really helped me with the energy level. Still do, actually.....

So Happy to be "Overweight"!
I finally went from "obese" to "overweight" on the BMI! I remember doing the math right after surgery to see what weight I would have to be to be "overweight" instead of "obese" and it seemed SO far away. Now not quite 5 months later, I'm there. I'm so thankful every day for the health and life that my sleeve & I working together have been able to bring back! Best thing I've ever done for myself!!!

Valentine's Challenge
I know it's not a weigh in today, but I was so surprised this morning to see I hit my Valentines Challenge today, a few days early!! :-)
-
Wow - this sucks
I definitely agree that I did not feel like anyone could have prepared me for what those first 2 weeks were like. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. But I can honestly tell you that it DOES get better, and I have never once (after I got through those first 2-3 weeks) regretted my decision. But during that time, it is hard. Mine wasn't hard as much physically as it was emotionally.
-
wish you got lap band?
Nope. That thought has never even crossed my mind. The only thing I've regretted about my choice to have the sleeve is that I didn't do it about 10 years earlier.

PROTEIN....
Premier Protein is my favorite. There are also other options that I use sometimes that are not traditional Protein shakes. BariatricChoice.com has a lot of protein products that I used early on. I really liked the protein puddings. They were easy to get down and didn't taste any different. I also like the protein hot chocolate. They are good for these cold days!

Shrimp?
Shrimp is also one of my go-to foods. It's easy to make just for me (if my family is having something I won't eat), it's very few calories and lots of Protein. I didn't eat it until probably 3 months out. It seemed kind of "tough" in consistency. But I would say like everything else, just chew, chew, chew.

6 months post-op
I was sleeved 9/12, so a little after you. But to answer your question, I track everything on MFP and average about 500/day. I still feel a lot of restriction, particularly with trying to get all my Water in.

*September Sleevers Check In*
Hi all - checking in here. Sleeved 9/12, so getting close to 5 months. A lot of days I still feel a lot of restriction. Getting enough Protein in after I've drank all the Water I am supposed to drink is a challenge some days. I just don't feel like there is a whole lot of room left for food..... I'm averaging about 400-550 calories per day. I started working out about 3 weeks ago (around 4 months post op) and it has made a huge difference in how I feel. It's also helped break through my one "real" stall that I had. hair loss is crazy and out of control....lol. I'm really hoping it stops soon. Thank goodness I had very thick hair to begin with. So other than that, I'm down 86 pounds and getting close to that 100 lost mark. :-)

Bloggers, post your blog address
mine is themeiamnow.blogspot.com. I had my surgery in Sept, but I started my blog right before/after (I can't remember...lol) my very first doc visit, so I've been trying to document the whole process from 9 months pre-op to now, 4.5 months post op.

Do you have a favorite food as a "sleever?"
Greek yogurt definitely
