Okay, I had the same problem right out the gate. If you are on Clear liquids still then you know you can eat stuff like Jello and popsicles, right? You can also buy your favorite restaurant Soup and strain it (I froze contents for later) and just drink the broth. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it really helped me when Protein Water and plain chkn broth just wasn't cutting it!
You should be okay to drive as long as you're not on pain meds of any kind; if you are, you shouldn't drive. Also, use extreme caution not to get into an accident as this would be disastrous as you know.

ScottsGirl reacted to A_ReNUDE_me in My surgery has been approved by my insurance...now its time to roll up my sleeves (pun intended o_O)
I have received my insurance approval..for some reason I thought that everything would magically fall into place, but I am starting to get fearful & overwhelmed. Anyone got any good advice for staying calm and not over thinking the process? I watch YouTube videos and get either very excited or very afraid, but I need to prepare myself as I am a analytical person who likes fact...my MD office has several tests, visits set up for me as I begin this journey to my surgery date. But I want to interact with those REAL HONEST PEOPLE who have blazed this trail before me and those who are embarking upon it at the same time...SO WHO'S GOT HELP?

ScottsGirl got a reaction from Sleeved in Seattle in Omeprazole/Prilosec
My surgeon has me on Omerprazole for a minimum or 3 MONTHS to prevent acid reflux. Since we don't have a big stomach anymore and your body is producing the same amount of acid as it did before to help break down the food you eat, it's just too much. I wouldn't stop taking acid meds so soon, and I may end up taking them forever like my Multi-Vitamin. If you decide not to take it anymore, make sure you only eat low-acid foods!

Looking for some group thoughts since it's the weekend and surgeon's office is closed. I took omeprazole twice a day for 4 weeks post surgery, finishing up two days ago. Since then I've noticed more gurgly, acidy feelings. Of course I also transitioned to pureed food, which could be muddying the issue. But I'm feeling nauseous too. Would it hurt to take one pill a day, you think? Just to make a gradual transition to full acid production ...
What are others doing? I've never taken the stuff before so don't have a good idea of normal results with it.
    TIA!

They are also at Sam's and IMHO the best ones out there. You get 30g of Protein with just one shake and the flavor is superior to many of them.

ScottsGirl reacted to Sleeved in Seattle in HATE This
Husband got tickets to the Mariners game tonight. I said I'd go. And now it's 7:00 and he just left without me because my f'ing stomach is nauseous and I feel crappy and I'd rather not risk bowel excitement at a baseball game with all his new coworkers.
I have had no social life this summer, I miss doing fun things (hell, anything!) with my husband and we're leaving in 2 weeks for long-planned 2 weeks in France. I'm afraid I'm going to ruin the trip because I can't eat, can't drink and can't seem to stay feeling good for more than a few hours at a time.
I am really really hating my sleeve right now. I know I know this too shall pass but I'm so miserable and pissed off and tired of staying home and ruining any occasion to do something interesting.
That's my rant. Gonna go take some more anti-nausea meds and see if they'll knock me out.

    First the support:
You have lost 44 pounds in less than 3 months. That is awesome! When was the last time you did that on a "diet"? That is most definitely not slow! I was at my clinic this morning for my 1 month post-op and the second I started in with the "my weight loss hasn't been stellar..." and wanted to proceed that I knew it was because my body is kind of in freak out mode, my nurse started waving her arms and looking like she was getting ready to howl. She reminded me that my weight loss was excellent (16 pounds by their records) and that the goal is 1-2 pounds/week, not 5 or more pounds/week that we all wish for. We are ALL to hard on ourselves!
    Now, the snark:
I think the next time someone asks me when I'm due, I'm going to break into phony hysterics and tell them how I'm sterile and will never be able to have kids and that I'm just fat. (all true, but not distressing for me...) Maybe that'll learn 'em...
Seriously, congratulations on your loss! You are doing great. You are not slow. You are you, and the only you there is, so keep up the good work!

Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is, just tell them that you gave birth "yesterday" to a 10 pound brown baby and you had it in the toilet. That happened to me when I was 80lbs heavier, so I know how you feel, although I was more embarrassed for the lady that asked because she turned a bright shade of red when I told her that I gave birth to him 5 years ago! LOL
    Chin up, you are BEAUTIFUL!!!

Everyone is different and will have different experiences! You should stop worrying about the "what-ifs." Otherwise, what if you don't lose enough weight? Live in the present. There are several ways to stop losing, but you really need to focus on what you need to do right now.

I almost broke down today after someone asked me when I was due. I was sleeved on May 31, 2013 and went from 267 to 223 that 44 pounds lost and I still look pregnant. I work so hard at the gym and eat the right stuff. It just made me feel worthless like all my hard out isn't paying off. I already consider my self a slower loser that just made it worse.
Sorry I needed to vent and cry.

ScottsGirl got a reaction from ctsleeve in Harder to swallow today?
Even though these foods are on your puree list, they need to be thinned out as much as you can tolerate them to insure that there are no swallowing issues. Try thinning your cottage cheese with either fat free or 1% milk. I've been adding milk and a little grapeseed oil to my pureed beans; the oil has a lot of Omega benefits!
    Best of luck!

Divorce should only be an option when there are no other options available. You married him for a reason... love...? He loved you and picked you to marry him and accepted you just the way you were...??? Let me know if I'm wrong. Don't get discouraged, have faith and patience; sometimes men are like children and both of these traits will help you get through the muck! Cheer up, it does get better IN TIME.
