so how long is everyone taking off?
My doctor is keeping me off of work for 4 weeks. I have a desk job and plan on using this time to give my body time to heal and to get myself acclimated to my new way of eating.

Looking good and congratulations on your weight loss!

I am a Ross Dress For less fan. Best for tops and dresses, not so much jeans are slacks. Fun to keep wardrobe updated with Macys type brands for $10-20 an item
I buy 90% of my dresses from Ross...I should really own some stock in the company!

Well, I was able to move up my Upper GI (he said I could have EGD or Upper GI) so I will have upper GI and ekg Monday, and then they can schedule it. His office said they have "several" days open in December. I just want "my" date open in December! Lol.
Hoping that your day is open so we can be surgery twins!

December 5th can't come fast enough.
I've been buying clothes like I'm not about to lose weight?!? What's that all about??? I'm addicted to shopping.

Congratulations Doopa and Nurse Bonnie!!!

My doctor always recommends the flu shot but I've always declined.

I can't wait to just go into a store and buy a pair of boots and have them fit my calves. Soooo tired of paying $65 for calf extensions!!!! It's the price I have to pay to be fat and stylish.

Same here.....the choices! ARGH!
I can't wait!

I've had Atkins shakes in the past and my favorite was the Dark chocolate Royale. YUMMO! I can't think of the brand of Protein Shakes that my hospital (Kaiser) recommends and sells.

I thought it would be cool to have a random thoughts thread.
Surgery or non-surgery related. I know I sometimes have thoughts that aren't really "thread worthy" but I'd still like to get my thoughts out...or typed out.

I will also have a variety of Protein on hand like Isopure, Unjury (chicken and unflavored), Syntrax(sp) and Premier Protein. There are a couple others that I will buy samples of too...I can't recall the names at the moment.
I don't want to stock up on any one in particular because it's a possibility that what you likes pre surgery will change when you become post op.

I'm not on FB.

Hi Blondiee, that's great! I have short term disability but I wasn't sure since this is an elective surgery if it would qualify. Hmm I should check into that...but the only issue is having to tell people...where as if I just took vacation time no one would know. Hmmm decisions decisions lol
You don't have to tell anyone. Tell your HR rep that you're having surgery and provide him/her with the paperwork from your doctor's office. That's it.

Some background...I'm 38 years old 5'4 and 243 lbs. I've got 3 kids (16 years old, 4 years old and 10 month old baby girl)...full time radio account executive so time is really never on my side lol. I've had 2 csections so I'm hoping the recovery/pain won't be as bad. Although I've always been very active and eaten pretty healthy I have always battled my weight. I truly feel like this surgery will help me be the healthier thinner person I've always felt I should be. I'm doing this fir my family and now especially my baby girl. My question us I've spoken to a few people who have had surgery and gave only taken 1-2 weeks off. I see a few people getting approval from work for a leave of absence. How much time are people planning on taking? I've slated 11 days...hoping this is enough. I can work at my desk during recovery. Fingers crossed...lol
I'm taking around 4 weeks off from work. My employer has great short term disability coverage for it's employees. I could take 8 weeks off and get 100% of my pay. Hopefully I'll recover from this surgery as quickly as I did with my c-section.

I hear you Jerzygurl! My doctor is not requiring a pre op diet but I will not be grazing ALL day on Thanksgiving! My pre op appointment is on the 26th and I don't want to gain any weight between now and surgery.
