Not sure what I am doing??!!
Thought I would post an update. I saw my surgeon today and told him my concerns. I told him I wanted a small unfil and he agreed. He said I should be able to eat 3 small meals a day. He took out .07 of a cc. Later in the day I had a small bit of cottage cheese with pureed fruit and it went down with out any pain. OMG what a relief!! I have now had a bit of chicken and mixed veggies for dinner. I ate it super slow and teeny tiny bites....no more pain and no feeling like it was sitting in my throat. I was full with a small serving and now feel settled. Full calm tummy with no pain and it feels so good!! I would encourage anyone who is pbing alot or having pain with every single meal to really review your eating techniques and if you are following them and still having problems talk to your Doctor....and maybe a get a small unfil. Take care everybody. Barb

Not sure what I am doing??!!
Hi Dustout, That is exactly what's happening. Come dinner when I can finally eat I eat a house! You are right ...this is totally defeating how the band should be helping me. This is not healthy...i would rather be having three healthy meals a day with a snack thrown in if needed. I am going on Tuesday and going to ask for a slight unfil. Once I tell my doc I pb almost everyday or everyother day I am sure he will take some out. It is very strange I got this first fill in February and now after 6 weeks it is tight and causes me all this grief. What is up with that!!?? Thank you everyone for your comments and advise. I will let you know how things go on Tuesday. Barb

Not sure what I am doing??!!
Thank you all very much for your responses. If it has not improved by Aril 8th my next appointment, I think I will ask for a small unfill. PB'ing everyday (or almost) is going to end up causing big problems long term and I paid so much for this sucker I want it to work!! I was actually loosing weight better before my fill. I realize I am doing all the things that a "too tight" fill produce. I will discuss with my Doc. I am sure he would do a slight unfil as he does not agree with the agressive approach and I want to eat like a normal healthy person. Thanks again...you've been a big help. Barb

Not sure what I am doing??!!
I was banded Nov. 26th /07 and have lost 42 pounds so far. I had my first fill on Feb 12th and had 2cc's put in. My band is a MIDband and holds 9cc's. I am scheduled for a second fill April 8th. I am not sure if I should get one or not... I cannot eat breakfast as I am too tight in the morning. I usually have a protein drink at 8 AM and then a ff /sf yogurt at around 10. I have lunch at 1 o'clock and sometimes it stays down and sometimes it doesn't. I am better if I eat soft stuff...cottage cheese scrambled eggs as I am often still tight. I find during the work week I have a half hour for lunch am rushed to eat and that makes it even worse.( I also drive home to let my dog out) By dinner time I feel like I could eat a house and sometimes do! Last night I ate a huge salad (2 cups) and a chicken pot pie (approx 1 cup). I have only lost 5 pounds this month. Last few months it has been 10 pounds. Should I get another fill? Will that cut down on the amount I can eat at dinner? Thanks for any help you can offer Barb

How much exercise do you get?
I hear you friend. I have gone up and down this month the same rotten couple of pounds. I exercise 3 times a week. I do 30 mins. "fat burn" on the eliptical trainer and then 30 minutes on the treadmill. On average I do 3.5 miles in an hour and burn around 600-700 calories. Thankfully the weather has started to get nicer so I weed eated and cut lawn that should also burn up a few calories. I go for fill #2 April 8th and i am ready!!! I must admit the food addict in me has been alot worse this month. It has been stressful as my mother in law passed away and I have not been measuring or keeping track of my calories.. Time to give myself a reality check!! I do enjoy exercising now and I can walk alot faster thatn I used to. I have signed up for a 10K marathon at the end of April. I find it helps me to set goals. How are your fills Foofy? Hang in there...we can get through this!!! Barb

A couple of questions -feeling unsure
I was banded Nov. 26th and have lost 17 pounds so far. I have been staying at the same weight back and forth by 2 pounds for the last week. I exercise every other day and usually burn between 500-700 calories in an hour. I feel like I can eat bigger and bigger amounts and am starting to get that devil in my head that says "you are going to screw this up". I know I am eating less than I used to but it seems like I can eat alot! My Doc does not do the first fill till around 8 weeks after surgery so I have to wait till the end of January. My questions are..How many calories are most folks eating a day? and do folks record their food intake every day.? I have found when I don't write it down I tend to go over the 1000-1200 calories a day. Also do folks see a counsellor to help with the "issues" around food. I think maybe a counsellor would be a big help as lately all I think about is food, loosing weight and what I will eat next. Anybody else feel this way too?Any comments, suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Barb

November Nymphs Lets Talk Weight Loss!
Hi and congrats to all you amazing November bandsters! I had my surgery Nov 26th and am down 15 pounds. Christmas has me out of my exercise routine and there are way too many goodies around. I'm trying to just take it one day at a time. First fill is not set till around the end of January. I will be very ready for it I am sure. It sure is wonderful to see the scale going down instead of up for the first time in a long time!!! Keep up the great work everyone! Barb

banded and no restrictions
Hi IndioGirl Thanks for your response. Yes I know it seems weird for me to be eating salad at 2 weeks but my Doc does not have his patients on a liquid diet after lap band surgery. I was on liquid/mushies for the first week and now I try all kinds of healthy stuff I just chew the heck out of it. I am feeling hungry after about 3 hours which I guess is normal. The liquid stuff does not keep me full. It sure is a big learning curve. Remembering to eat slowly and tiny pieces. I think if I was on a liquid diet I would eat my own hand!!! I don't know how you folks manage to do it !! Hats off to ya!!! The food addict in me keeps calling and I am trying to remain focussed and stay the heck out of the kitchen!! You are all such great help and support.

banded and no restrictions
I had half cup fish, half cup cottage cheese, half cup salad and could have eaten more but didn't. I am staying under 900 calories and burn about 400-500 calories at the gym every other day. I was only banded 2 weeks ago and worry that i have stretched my pouch. Is this normal? Seems I can eat alot! Can't have my first fill till almost end of January. Any info or advise woulld be appreciated. Barb

To suture or not to suture, that is the question
The stiches are placed away from the buckle of the band but I would imagine it does move around in there. I think once it settles into the grove of your stomach it doesn't move around too much. I know surgeons are very careful about how exactly it is placed in the stomach. The article was really interesting. I would like to know more about the different surgical techniques and outcomes.
-
To suture or not to suture, that is the question
I had the midband and my Doctor did the posterior and anterior stiching to help prevent slips.

Pain ?
Hi Peaches, I had 1/4 cup frozen mixed veggies (tiny cubes) and 2 ounces white fish. Chewed till it was pretty much liquid but i felt very hungry and ate it too fast then had 1/4 cup butternut squash soup. It was all very low calorie but if I had waited I would have realized I was very full and not touched the soup. STUPID stupid stupid! I did not vomit or feel nauseated just unconfortable tightness. It is considered the "puree"" stage in the Weightloss Surgery for for dummies book and that is what my diet will be for 4 weeks. Every doc is so different I find it really confusing. Feeling good today and sticking to the easiest Pureed food ie: cottage cheese, sf applesauce, soups. Hope I haven't screwed things up.
