I'm in Tijuana at florence Hospital.
From what I understand, an enlarged liver can get in the way during surgery and make the surgery more difficult. Shrinking it as much as possible makes it easier to have clear access to the stomach.
Good luck with your journey! I look forward to hearing about yours and will be updating this thread until I get home safe and sound.

I think it's time to jump. I'm going to book Dr. Garcia on 8/31. I'll fly out after work on Friday, and be back home Tuesday. Hopefully, I'll feel up to going back to work on Wednesday (I just sit at my desk all day). Total cost with Airfare will be less than $5100. I've heard only positive things about most of the Drs. so I'm sure any decision would be a good one.

Glad to report I had my 6 month weigh in today (6 months isnt until 8/22 though) and I am down 85 lbs! I originally wanted to be down 100 lbs but oh well. Ill take it! Feeling great!

I didn't have gas pains but I was taking quite a bit of painkillers still at your stage. Have you got something pretty strong? Unfortunately the more pain killers you have now the more Constipation you'll have later, but you need to be able to rest up so take something now, perhaps along with a stool softener (if you can swallow pills). I find codeine more effective than Panadol or aspirin alone. Keep sipping your Water too - keep a jug by the bed.
And if it gets too hard in the middle of (your) night, hop on the Aussies thread and call out to your sleeve sisters DownUnder. We'll be up and about.
The pain will pass - you'll feel a little better every day. Good luck.

I am in TJ with my mom and sister and we have been treated like royalty. The men at the hotel have bern wonderful and the taxi that took me to Walmart waited an hour for me and didn't charge ne extra. There are good and bad in every city. I would come back again. I even went to the dentist who was a superstar.

My BMI is currently 40 and has hovered around the 39.5 mark the last year. The previous 5 years, however, my BMI has been closer to 35-36. I have no comorbidities, but am being tested for sleep apnea in a few weeks. I have Highmark BS and they require a 2 year history of "severe obesity". Anyone else encountered this or have experience with how strict they are about the 2 year history?
