i am 14 months post op. if we are honest, i think that we all have that "what the hell did i do to myself" moment. i had it for a very brief time, and i am 'that sleever' that everyone hates. i had no complications, only 1 throw up (because i tried to do a whole serving of broth in 5 minutes 2 weeks out) and a pretty quick recovery. so, if someone like me had it, i can truly understand someone with any complications having it.
however, at 14 months out, my life is much better. i am 20 pounds away from what my surgeon told me was a 'lofty' goal. i am smaller than i was when i graduated high school, but i don't have that 'crack addict, sick' look. i am able to do all of the things that i couldn't but wanted to. and i eat like a normal person. i don't always make good food choices, but i always stay on track, because, i didn't do this for temporary weight loss. i did it to change me life. and it has helped me take control.
hopefully, you will learn what is causing your problem, and be able to use this to be a happier you. i truly hope that you come to love it as much as i have.
    good luck in your journey.

I'm only 8 days post op and am going through the remorse thing right now. I am really struggling with the liquid diet for all I've been able to have is strained cream of Soups and Protein Shakes. I have another week of the liquids before I can move to the pureed stage. I've had some thoughts of regret and wish I could have done this on my own without the surgery. I know it will all be worth it and it will just be another month before I can eat "normal" food again but I would give anything right now for a bite of chicken or a grilled cheese sandwich. I have been fortunate, though. So far I have had absolutely no problems with being sick or uncomfortable at all.

Thx for this do ease my mind a bit. My first few days was horrible. Eventually I found what works for me. I found some Protein shots by carnivorous from GNC which had 50g of good Proteins. You drink them like a 5hr drink. I would drink them in the morning. They actually took away that hunger feeling. They would last me to lunch or beyond. I had a cup of Soup for lunch a Greek yogurt because Greek has the most Protein. Then another protein shot right before I start to cook dinner to help maintain my urge while I cooked dinner for the family. In between I had fat/sugar free Jello, pudding or a really cold Isopure if I was just bored and wanted something. And yes I cheated. Nothing major a cracker or two with my Soup and a pinch of something once or twice, which I don't recommend. But I called my nurse and she pretty much gave me a slap on the hand and said don't do it again. Especially the last few days right before surgery so your stomach is empty. She even recommended taking some Miralax a couple of nights before surgery.
Well that's what worked for me. Although unnecessary. I hope this helps and you find what works for you. And you know the funny thing is that now that I can eat again I can't. My stomach don't like all that bad stuff apparently. Tore my stomach up. Guess I'll go back to my diet and ease my way to healthier things. Again good luck and please keep us posted.

    Hello Newbie!
I am new to this site as well and I just got my date 2 days ago and I am having the same feelings as you are, I am excited and ready to do this. My date is Aug 13th and today has been my second day of liquod only and so far it has not been bad, I pray it stays this way. What I am kinda worried about is the weekend with no work and nothing to do all day, although I am not a big eater during the weekend I usually do eat three meals. I am 35 have been married 11years and have 2 children and they are all very supportive, my husband is actually trying to stick with my 2 weeks which will be interesting to see if he completes but he is trying . I look foward to all challenges ahead and Im determined this tool will work for me.

Sorry to hear this determined. Keep your chin up, it's better to be safe than sorry. Let the Dr's do what's best for you. I'm sure it will happen, they just have to check out your stress test. Stay positive and I hope you still hang out with us

I'm on Day 5 (being sleeved 8/12). I've been fine all week long. I had a bit of a test today when I went to happy hour with my coworkers. But, I happily sipped on my Protein Shake at a local sports bar. :-)

My doc told me no pre-op diet except a light dinner the night before & nothing after midnight the day of surgery. Feels odd to me since everyone else is having to do "something" for their MD. Guess I am very lucky

I find myself forgetting as well that I can't eat what I want && ill do good at my diet at work but when I'm home Im watching others eat, && don't get me started on the stupid food commercials lol. It's definitely a mental process && it takes support...but I know we'll all do great!
    Day 3 here we go!

    Hi everyone,
I am new to this app. I just got my surgery date today and I am very excited. I honestly have no idea what to expect, but I know my life is going to be completely different. My current BMI is 56 and current weight is 357.4, with a height of 5'7. I have a lot of weight to lose and I know its not going to be easy, but I am fully commited to a new life.
