  1. I've been using the word balance a lot. I feel like this surgery helped me to find some. Yes, I am not always perfect... in fact I am sitting here eating a small lasagna right now as I type this but I don't feel bad about it. You know why? Because I know when to put the fork down (in most situations anyways). I feel like I've been on nothing but diets for the past 15 years. Now I can eyeball what foods will work and not work and usually which ones I can eat and which ones my sleeve doesnt like. I'm getting better at it everyday. Balance to me is 3 chicken nuggets instead of a 20 piece. There are days I eat really really well and days I don't. BIG DEAL. I hate "diets". Some folks need that restriction because of food addictions but I needed something to slow me down and make me THINK about the food I was eating instead of being a bottomless, never satisfied, pit of culinary despair. Everyone does this for their own reasons. That's mine.
  2. Mine are sitting in a HUGE pile next to my closet, waiting to be hauled off to Goodwill. One of these days.
  3. Whoa! Good job. 64 pounds in 3 weeks is insane fast.
  4. That is my goal as well. Toning and firming up. I'm gonna get into that gym and turn it up. I heard drinking skim milk regularly (organic, of course) REALLY helps with loose skin.
  5. You're so supportive! Thank you everyone, I'll let you all know how the 21 Day Detox goes and how much weight is lost.
  6. Everytime I do Paleo I am one of the ones who eat dairy. Not strict Paleo be any means. But if I did the 21 Day Detox I would not eat dairy but just for those 21 days.
  7. So true. I'm FREEZING ALL THE TIME NOW! I moved to Georgia from Ohio 4 years ago. Now my heat is constantly set to 73+.
  8. I ate 4 chocolate chip Cookies yesterday. haha. And on Monday I had an entire bag of Doritos (it was the small bag from a vending machine). I'm only 3 1/2 months out so give it time folks. You'll be able to eat it all in no time. But that doesn't mean we should encourage it. Some people around these parts have serious health issues related to consuming bad foods and/or food addictions. These boards are a safe place. I always support balance as much as possible instead of elimination.
  9. So I've been slipping lately... and by slipping I mean eating fast food, Cookies, chips.. basically everything that I'm not supposed to be eating. I haven't gained any weight (thankfully the small amount I did gain this week I lost again). These last 50 pounds are really important to me so I will be renewing my commitment to this journey in the new year. My 34th birthday is April 30th and I want to be at my goal weight by then. Also, incidentally I will be traveling to Ohio that week to be in a good friends wedding and I want to be at goal. My partners mother gave me this book for Christmas and it is fascinating! Tons of great info. I've dabbled in Paleo before but the whole concept of eating clean is something that I think I am going to adopt as much as possible in the new year. Is anyone else renewing their commitment to good health and weight loss in 2014?
  10. I used to get hiccups all the time when I got to full before I was sleeved! I never knew why. How interesting, thanks for that info.
  11. Actually your stomach will allow you to eat a bag of Doritos because it's a slider food. Or any chips for that matter. It does seem like you started this thread just to be confrontational. But hey, to each his own. Sounds like you have it all figured out. Happy New Year!
  12. I've never heard that and I am 3 1/2 months out and eat beef and pork all the time. Well, I don't eat nearly as much beef as I used to but I do eat it with no issues.
  13. food addict? No I don't think a love of good food makes you an addict. I have to admit though, since we can eat so little now there is absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating good, wholesome, higher quality food. In fact, I encourage anyone who has this surgery to be a "foodie".
  14. I posted this in your other thread: Makes sense, around 5-6 weeks I started taking Prilosec and a good probiotic (http://www.amazon.co...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I was not enjoying eating at all. After I started taking these eating became much MUCH more enjoyable and that "sour" feeling went away after everything I ate.

  16. Also I have found that the more processed a food is, the more my sleeve hates it. UNLESS it's loaded with sugar. Sugary drinks from Starbucks go right down. Milkshakes from any fast food place however hurt my stomach.
  17. Uhg, I know how you feel. When I was newly post op I all of a sudden I coulnd't stomach or smell or be in the same room as broth. Any kind of broth. It made me want to puke.
  18. That happened to me about 5-6 weeks out where eating just wasnt enjoyable. It passes. My 2 pound gain this weekend it a testiment to that. haha
  19. Yup that's about right. We went out last night and I got a half rack of ribs. 2 was all I could eat. I took it home and have been munching on it little by little.
  20. Every single night I get dry mouth. Without fail.
  21. Hi Endless! You words are direct and accurate....i thought about backing out, but realized i don't want go back to the old way i have been managing my health.... I thought about the point you drove home....its irreversible.....that kinda thing scares me....but one of the other ladies on the board reminded me that its still my stomach and will continue to function as such....that was also helpful for me to wrap my head around this... So I'm 4 days post op, and feeling much, much better....i am working on getting my fluids in and completely focused on that head game....that is a challenge! You said it best! Appreciate your candor....all the folks on this board are amazing! Sheldon - 4 days post op... I'm glad you decided to do it. It takes courage to walk through the fire. Heads up.. The first month just drink as much as you can, whenever you can, dehydration slows healing. Also be prepared for 2 unfortunate first month nuances. #1. A brief but eye opening depression (usually includes some sort of reckoning, 'Why did I do this to myself?') It's normal. And #2. the third week stall.
  22. Maybe after a year or two. I know everyone is different and I don't know how much you have to lose or what you eat during the day but in the first month, my opinion is that's a little slow but it's not without victory still and it is something to be proud of. Some peoples bodies take a little more time releasing the fat. You're definitely not the only person here who struggles with slower weight loss. The good thing is, you're going in the right direction.
  23. No not really. Only when I overeat.
  24. I do this all the time. When my eyes are about 5 times bigger than what my actual stomach can hold.
