  1. I have some plain greek yogurt the hubby bought (he is not allowed to shop alone again!) and I was thinking of mixing a little bit of honey in it to sweeten it... Is this an ok sweetner to use? I am just thinking sprinkling equal on it will not be good and I cant have fruit yet. Not sure what else to do with it. I am full liquids so I am still pretty limited but don't want to waste the yogurt. Any guidance would be good.
  2. Have you tried a sports drink? I drink one powerade zero a day and then just sip on water or decaf tea and I don't seem to be dying of thirst... I am only a week and a day out so I am a newbie too.
  3. I am a week out and I am still feeling hunger pains... According to everything I have read on here its either heartburn/too much stomach acid or head hunger... either way it sucks because I have been taking my acid reflux meds and its not helping and if its head I am in trouble!
  4. I am going home today as well. I had a lot of issues yesterday with pain while trying to get fluids down. It was due to swelling so once they gave me some steroids it helped me get the fluids down without pain. Tons of gas pain so I'm walking as much as possible to work it out

    Telling your children

My kids at 9 & 6 so I kept it pretty simple. Mom is going to have a surgery that is going to help her lose weight so that she can do more things with you. When I told them my 9 year old said you just need to exercise more to lose weight... I said that does work for everyone and that I'm doing this to be around for along time. They both seemed nervous about it but ok
  6. I am completely freaking out... So nervous, anxious etc... I want this surgery so bad so I can be healthy and active and keep up with my kids but I am so scared something may happen. I can't even get myself to pack my bag for the hospital because it doesn't feel real yet. I think I need a valium!
  7. My surgery is tomorrow as well and I am freaking out! I have been completely fine and cool this whole time (started the process back in June) and now I am just freaking out. I keep telling myself to calm down everything will be fine but it is not working... I have no idea how I am ever going to get to sleep tonight.
  8. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow (surgery 9/4) and I am getting kind of nervous... I decided that I needed to drink wine to calm my nerves! That and it will be the last time for quite awhile so I am going to enjoy it while I can! Just wanted to say good luck to all!

    Recommended supplement amounts

It depends on your dr... Everyone says that... Mine says I can start swallowing whole pills after a month so I am going to suck it up for a month and switch to a regular multi-vitamin. My dr's requirements are a multivitamin with 400 mcg of folic acid, thiamin, selenium and zinc (take 2 a day) and then in addition to the multivitamin take 36 mg of iron, 1500 mg of calcium citrate taken as 3 doses of 500 mg (take at separate time from the iron as that causes issues), a vitamin B complex with B-50 dosage and Vitamin B-12 sublingual at least 500mcg a day...
  11. I am having my sleeve on Sept. 4th... Very excited and nervous... I start my liquid diet on Wednesday and I am hoping I can do it without cheating!

    Insurance Anxiety

Ok so I didn't expect to be posting again so soon but I have been riding high on anxiety all day and just have to get it out. I am so not patient and this waiting game of will I or wont I be approved is driving me nuts. They just need to approve it so I can set my date and I can get it done and enter the next phase of my healthier life! UGH! Ok so enough of the rant... I just got set off today when I was at work and my cell rang with an out of area number and my hopes went sky rocketing up that it was the insurance company saying yes you are approved... Silly girl, insurance companies don't call with good news... No instead it was some nurse medical help line thing that got triggered to call me because I went to our work health fair and did the various stations to earn money for my hra... ARGH I do not need your call!!! Yes I am overweight and yes I am doing something about it if your stupid company would just approve me!!! Ok apparently the rant wasn't done... Anyway thanks for listening, I'm glad I got that out!

    Insurance

I have united health care and I am waiting on approval but as far as I know it should go thru... I do not have any issues just a high BMI... But it is all dependent on your individual health plan... If you go to their website and register yourself on it you should be able to look up if it will be covered by your health plan.
  15. Ok so I am a new person on this site, I have never blogged and I have no idea what I am doing but what heck! So here I go... In the beginning I was a normal sized baby and kid... Puberty hit and curves came out and kept going and going and going... Now 37 years later I go to my dr's office and the nice PA who weighs 95 lbs soaking wet says have you ever considered weight-loss surgery... I wanted to ask her if she ever considered eating a quarter pounder but I refrained... However rude she was it did get me thinking and I started researching. First thing I learned - I had to quit smoking... Damn it. I love smoking but I knew it was horrible for me and my babies (9 and 6) both hate that I smoke... So got a prescription for Chantix and two weeks later smoked my last cigarette on April 23. Step one completed! Next I started looking into what I had to do to get my insurance to pay for this crazy idea... First thing is get an approved surgeon. Looked at all the websites of the surgeons and randomly picked one. Next I set up an appointment and watched an online seminar. I got a letter of approval from my dr, had a mental evaluation done (that was fun), had a sleep study done and got a CPAP, and now I am just waiting for approval. I am starting to get a little nervous with this whole waiting thing... I am the type of person who gets an idea in their head and goes for it... I push and push till I get what I want and waiting is not my thing... I just want to get it done so I can get started with the rest of my life! I am going to try and do an entry every couple of days to let you know where I am at and basically so I can just keep track of everything that happens along the way
