  6. Yep I was actually at hospital waiting for surgery when he came in and told me the same thing! Then I had to wait 3 more weeks for insurance approval.
  7. The same exact thing happened to me! Now my date is Oct. 9 for the bypass. I was also confused because through this whole process I was focused on this forum for the sleeve! Now I'm OK with getting the bypass . I've been on the gastric bypass forum. So I know how you feel.
  8. I was scheduled for surgery on the 19th. but at the last minute my surgeon decided I should have a RNY instead of the sleeve due to a large hiatal hernia I had repaired last year! So now im waiting for my insurance approval which took 2 mos. last time... ugh
  9. Everyone on this forum is so kind and uplifting..
  10. I know I wish he would of looked into my file sooner..In the beginning I wanted the bypass and he suggested the sleeve, he must not of realized how bad my hernia was. 1/3 of my stomach was up in my esophagus causing me severe pain..Now I have to research the complete bypass and check out the forums for gastric bypass stories! ugh
  11. Well I was suppose to be sleeved aug 19th. As I was lying there waiting to go for surgery, the surgeon, tells me he thinks I should not have the vertical sleeve done because of my servere hiatal hernia repair I had done last year. He suggests a Rny bypass . I was so lnto the sleeve being done, ive done my homework on this sight and I really thought the sleeve was the way I should go. But I guess he knows best but now I have to have that new procedure re submitted to my insurance company which took 2 mos before..ugh so discouraged.
  12. Mine is Also on the 19th..cheers to us!
  13. Hi my name is Karen and I'm from kersey pa and my surgery date is Aug 19.
  14. Thank you all so much on your input..I'm going full steam ahead with the sleeve Monday!
  15. Well my story begins with my surgeon wanting me to have a verticle sleeve done , my insurance took two months for an approval finally got that and my surgery date is for Monday aug. 19th..i was all excited then my doc calls me and thinks I may have a problem with a hiatal hernia from the vertical sleeve..He repaired a hiatal hernia last year but my ins. didn't cover any bariatric surgery so he suggested an RNY complete bypass, I was a little skeptical because for 8 mos I had my mind set on a vertical sleeve..So then he calls me telling me if I go thru with the complete bypass I need to resubmit my file to the insurance company..He said the call was mine as to a vertical sleeve or complete bypass...He said there was a chance my hernia would come back BUT also a chance it wouldn't....I said I am just going to go wit the vertical sleeve..Any comments would be welcome...
