DagsboroDebbie reacted to radiant_rene in May 2013 sleever
I haven been on VST in a while because I am really enjoying the new me. I have been very active since my surgery on May 3rd 2013. I have lost a total of 83 lbs and this is the best i have felt in a very long time. I work out an 1 hour usually 3 to 4 times a week. I can really see the changes. I have went down from a 26/28 (some 30's) to wearing a size 18w pants. It used to be ashamed to try on clothes in the stores but, now take my own sweet time in the dressing room. When I was younger, I loved roller coasters. I stopped getting on them because i was too afraid that I would not fit and they would ask to get off. This summer I rode so many rides. I had the time of my life. I thank God that I have not had any complications. I usually do a Protein Shake in the morning, a lean cuisine for lunch, another Protein shake, and a hearty protein for dinner. My appetite seems to go with the weather. Not for sure why. The only bad habit I have is I weigh myself too much and ooh I forgot the chocolate lol. My Dr and nutritionist have been there for the much needed support. My husband got the lap band 2 years ago so it makes it nice that we both can support each other. I have 70 more lbs to loose to be a my idea weight. I am not anxious to reach my goal. I have always told myself that when i got the surgery I would be the creator of my own success. Therefore, Im taking one day at time. Right now, I am just enjoying the new me.

Good for you! I am down 52# since surgery. My problem is I can't really exercise like I want. I am waiting to join the YMCA. I can eat a good bit at times others not so much. Most I've eaten is a whole sandwich. But most times its barely half. I have zero issues tolerating things. Which is good, yet bad at the same time. My biggest problem is drinking too fast. I guzzle when IM hot. So when I do yardwork its hard to not just guzzle. Hands down best decision I've made for myself. Would do it all over again.

DagsboroDebbie reacted to indecision in Scale broke, need a new one - which one to buy?
I would try every one the store has. Whichever one weighs you in less. That's the one to buy!!!

DagsboroDebbie got a reaction from ArnoldS in Ever miss eating?
You will be fine. After surgery, and once you are back on regular food, you will be happily eating; but if like me, you will have to remind yourself to eat because you won't be hungry all the time any more.

If you hit a wall you are going somewhere. Stationary people don't hit walls.

Be encouraged. You can do this. If you didn't work out before, it is a big change. Start slow; but start. Find something you like to do & if possible a partner always helps. I was sleeved on 7/16; so a little further out than you. Many of us take regular stool softeners, some use benefiber or other Fiber supplements. Everyone is different so same thing doesn't work for all. You have to discover what works for you. Where are you at with food?? That could be part of the issue.

DagsboroDebbie got a reaction from Daydra in July 2013 Sleevers
I sure understand your confusion. I'm so glad my doc & his team are so understanding & not locked into the same answers for everyone though as we are all different. Lettuce on soft stage sounds crazy & I wouldn't even think to try that. My doc moved me through the stages a little faster than some; but slower than others on this forum. I think you have to listen to your body. Don't add too many things at a time & be cautious so you can "read" the signals your body sends & know if added things are agreeing with your sleeve or not; then go from there - one meal at a time. Lots of good info here; but not all info is good for everyone. Best of luck.

DagsboroDebbie got a reaction from bgood597 in I think you may have convinced me...
Do your research so you know what to expect. Make a list of any questions that come to mind from research & reading posts here & make sure your bariatric team answers them; then relax and follow your pre-op & post-op instructions.

I'm per-op and my friend just had her surgery 8/29. Her pain was badddddd. Even in the hospital! My dr said I'd be on a morphine drip but her dr gave a shot every three hours which obviously wasn't good enough to deal with her pain. What pain med were you all on in the hospital? And what were you sent home with?

DagsboroDebbie reacted to Tinaatl in 100 pounds in 7 months! (with pictures)
I can't believe how quickly my life has changed! Getting the sleeve was the best thing I have ever done for myself but I had to do my share too! I run 20 miles a week, do yoga twice a week and train with a trainer twice a week. I've also had to completely re-train my brain when it comes to food. This time I'm never going back!
