  1. Hi there! I have my first appointment with Dr. Gandsas at AAMC on August 1. I've been to the seminar and I am dying to have this done ASAP. My insurance won't cover anything that has to do with obesity surgery so I'll be paying on my own. Its worth it to me! I was wondering if anyone here could tell me a little bit about what to expect once I see the surgeon, the types of tests he requires, and how soon they will schedule my surgery knowing I do not need insurance approval. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I'm very impatient and I was hoping I could do some things on my own before my appointment that might speed things up! Thanks everyone!
  2. I'm still pre-op, but I have 3 weeks to go so I'm already doing shakes and experimenting with what works best. So far, I've got almond milk, Protein powder, PB2, fat free greek yogurt. This morning was the first time I added the greek yogurt and my shake was great. You might want to try the yogurt.

    October Sleevers - Who else

Does anyone else have October 28? I think I might be alone! Maybe as we get closer?
  9. I just turned 35. Earlier this year I realized I had felt like my life was over for way too long. Yes, I've been out of high school for 18 years. Yes, I live a "grown up" life. But NO, my life is not over! That realization is what was the final factor in my decision for WLS. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt/feels that way. And the messy house thing...girlfriend, I am with you on that too
  10. I will not miss: 1. Not being able to cross my legs 2. Being out of breath walking up stairs 3. Not being able to bend over to tie my shoes 4. Not getting on rides with my son because I'm afraid I won't fit or the ride won't move with me on it 5. Not fitting in my bathtub to take a bubble bath 6. Not having the energy to do anything

    How i got fat

It took a lot of courage to share your story and you should be so proud of yourself. I believe that's part of the healing process. What a beautiful gal you are too! You look fantastic . Keep up the great work!
  13. I am scheduled for surgery on October 28. I'm self pay (in US, not in Mexico) and have my second appointment with my surgeon in a few days. The problem is that I have been gorging on food because I feel like I'm saying goodbye to a lifelong friend and habit. I'm so ashamed that I've gained at least 5 pounds and maybe more in a month and feel like the surgeon is going to be upset. Did any of you have any weight gain in the weeks before you started your pre-op diet?

    Pre-op weight gain

Aww, thanks. I plan to go ahead and start a variation of the pre-op diet that they gave me. It's really striving for a certain number of protein and carbs for 4 small meals per day. I feel better knowing I'm not alone but I know I need to get my rear in gear! I've also had a muscle spasm in my back for 3 weeks so that's not helping. I do start the supervised fitness program this week too so hopefully that helps. My whole life I have feared going to see doctors and having to get on that scale in front of them.
