  1. My doctors recommendations is 60-80g of protein per day so when I noticed I was really going over that, I got sort of worried. I'm still going to ask him because I know I should be sticking to his program since he's my surgeon, but I'm glad to know that other people blow that guideline out of the water too, LOL. And that some other doctors recommend higher intake.
  2. I eat cheese, but not really a lot? I usually have a cheese stick as a snack some time in the evening and a slice or two with lunch rolled up in cold cuts. I would love to know how your typical meal plan goes, if you wouldn't mind! Thank you so much!
  3. I was really bad the last few weeks (on vacation!) and was at a stall. I definitely know it was diet related. I wasn't much of a tracker, but since getting back I've tracked religiously and noticed that i'm getting anywhere from 100-120 grams of protein in a day. and that's with about 1100 calories a day. is that too much? I'm not due to see my doctor for another few weeks and I'll definitely ask the nutritionist when i'm there, but i'd like to get some feedback. as always, thanks! you guys are the best!

    Sex?

i had sex about a week and a half after surgery. it's really when you feel ready for it/when it's comfortable. it gets a lot better too as time goes on! ;D

    Weight Loss

  6. i always refer to it as "my tiny baby tummy". but in a cute voice and i think strangers sometimes look at me funny when i pick something up in the store and exclaim things to my husband like "omg tiny baby cheese for tiny baby tummy!" he just rolls his eyes.
  7. I'm 25 and had the sleeve done five months ago. I had originally gone to my surgeon's seminar wanting to get the lapband, but luckily he did a presentation on all three of the surgeries he performed and also mentioned briefly about the band and plication (spelling?). I was really happy that I had attended the seminar because it gave me all of the information I needed, and my husband and mom went with me so they were both educated in helping me come to a decision. I have a lot of weight to lose, so after I had read stories of people with the band only losing 50+ and a lot of the risks and complications that can happen, I was really turned off of it. The bypass scared me because of how intense of a surgery is, and the sleeve was just right (this sounds like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, right?). I highly recommend going to support groups before you even consider the surgery because it's real people who will tell you REAL answers to questions you have. Every single thing that my fellow sleeve people told me to watch out for happened after my surgery. And it was nice that I had them to turn to when I needed their advice. All in all, it's not a decision to take lightly, it's definitely a complete lifestyle change. But so far, for me, it's only improved my life. I hope this helps! Good luck!

    Sex and a new sleeve?

we waited a week and a half. didn't do anything crazy, and everything turned out well!

Not sure which BC to use after surgery?

nuvaring! it's wonderful! three weeks in, one week out. it totally beats the crazy hormone pills (you actually don't get the weird mood swings because it's not digested like the pill) and you don't need to remember to take it every day!
  10. I had mine the morning after my surgery so that I could be cleared for liquids. Mine consisted of me drinking a small amount of some dye and then they performed an x-ray while I swallowed it and watched it go down to make sure nothing leaked. It was disgusting, and after eating nothing for nearly two days but ice chips, it's the last thing you want to drink. But I was glad that I got the okay to move onto liquids. It's not that bad! The worst part was waiting to go back up to my room. But every surgeon is different, I believe.

    sleeve

ugh the swallow test was the worst thing in the world, in my opinion. i wanted to gag so hard. congrats though! good luck!
  12. old navy clearance has been a lifesaver for me. i found jeans at thrift stores like savers and the goodwill for $5-$10 usually. sweatpants are great too, but i'm lucky because i'm allowed to wear them at work. make sure you're donation your old clothes! i happened to come into contact with another bariatric patient who's a few sizes bigger than me, so i've been giving her all of my old stuff.

APPLE JUICE! HUGE NO NO FOR ME>

i dilute it, but i also use it when i haven't gone to the bathroom in a few days. i prefer using apple juice than laxatives. >.>
