Well I had my band done also 5 years ago and my sleeve done on mon 8/5. The band wasn't bad. It did help in a way where instead of 2 slices of pizza I had 1 . The problem was either it was 2 tight or 2 loose. never found the sweet spot. When it was 2 tight it was almost like the first few days after the sleeve. couldn't drink because of it being too tight and then going out to dinner and having to run to the bathroom to throw it up then to come back and either eat if I could or not . I do know people who lost a lot with the band but they were younger (then me) in there 20's early 30's and had the time to work out. I lost 20 then gained back the 20 and then gained another 10 or so more. I was at my highest so I decided before I get too old i'm 44 that I want 1 last shot with the sleeve. -Good luck with your choice. ElisaI

I'm 5 days out. My dr believes that have food keeps everything open and trys to get people to eat in the hosp some soup and tuna. most other drs believe liquid is best because it gives all swelling time to heal. I guess I see both points of view. Today I was able to drink/ eat with no problems Hope your doing well!!

Today for breakfast I had 1 scrambled egg. Ate most of it went down well. Mushed it well. Lunch 2 -3 ounces egg drop soup . 1/2 hr later had the tiniest maybe 2 ounces of chicken and chewed really well. No problems. Snack 1 slimfast and a sugar free icepop . Dinner I had 2 ounces of mashed potatoes, with tiny pieces of chicken 1 ounce with a little gravy . Mushed it all up and went down ok. Today was like the day where it was easy to drink. I hope i'm not pushing it but its all on my list of mushy . In the hosp they gave us soup and then tuna . It was yummy !

I'm on day 5 and just went out today to a shoe store for an hr. Havent used any meds today. You will feel crappy for another day or so then you will feel much better. Today I was able to drink water with no problems. When I did have problems what helped was warm broth . warm tea or warm anything. it will help heal the swelling and comforting to drink . Feel better!!

I get burning pains 5 days out. But it comes and goes like acid or gas

It took about 5 days for the swelling to go down so I can really swallow. I told the guy who put the tube down my throat to be extra careful because I am a gagger and that during my c-sec they took it out and it was hard to breath, This time because I told him early I didn't even have a sore throat. I had mine done on the 5hth and was very nauseous and dizzy. I think they should have kept me 1 more day. Give it a another day or so . It sounds like it is swollen.-good luck with everything . Had mine done 8/5 . Sore, tired and cranky. Soo I guess it has to get better from here LOL

I'm trying to figure this out. I lost 7 pounds pre op then when I came home a day later I gained 9 lbs. Is this normal. is it from all the saline they gave me ? I checked my weight again and its still up the 9 lbs. What do you think?

I went into Mercy hospital Rockville center long island on Monday 8/5th . They took me set me up in a bed and waited. Was a little nervous. Saw the one who knocks me out saw the dr. Ready to roll. Woke up in pain. They gave me a button to press that releases medicine (morphine) and while still half out I heard them say how many times did she press the button within 1 hr. I heard the lady say 18. 18?? Don't you think you should give her more if she pressed it 18 times. They did and finally much better. 2 hours later they put me in a room with a nurse who made no conversation. She put on the leg compressors and left me for a few hrs. When a new nurse came in she said the compressors were not working and as long as I was up and walking it wasn't a big deal. Well she never got me up to walk. So then I was nervous. I was dizzy and nauseous . The nice nurse dawn gave me a cool towel on my face brought me new compressors and finally let me go to the bathroom. The bad nurse suszan forgot to put the measure thing in to measure the pee . At 7pm I asked when do we get the blue thing to blow into she said you should have gotten that at ck in . Like it was my fault . She didn't notice I didn't have it all day!!.My phone was broken as well as the tv. My pole of saline was beeping all night long and the fire alarm was going off outside my room. Of course the doors closed as I was taking my walk and got locked in the hallway. I couldn't get back to my room because of the alarms . I had to find a nurse with a key.. To top this all off with across the street were 100 Irish bag pipe players who were playing that river dance music for 3 hours !! It just wouldn't end. I was soo annoyed. They fixed my tv 15 min before I left and wanted me to pay for it . I wouldn't go there again in you paid me. The best part is that my band is out and my sleeve in . The dr did a great job but next time ill pick the hosp 5 min from my house. I went 1 hr away because the Dr.s office said they had the best set up and really wonderful and caring nurses. WOW!

Just came back and everything went well. He didn't use a drain and not much gas. Very tired and had liquid at the hosp and then they gave me tuna. It was so yummy . Now I just have to heal up.

JENNYJENNY2 I THINK YOU WERE TALKING TO ME ABOUT BEING MY SLEEVE BUDDY. yES, I AM FROM LONG ISLAND ALSO HAVING IT AT MERCY HOSP . DR GARBER. IM GOING IN TOMORROW MORNING ( MON) I also have a lot to loose. Ill let you guys know how im doing tues or wed.

I wanted to see how you are doing about a week out. Can you eat, drink ect and how much.?

thats really interesting > I am wondering if that is how im going to feel. I haven't told anyone except my husband and kids. I told everyone else I am going on a medifast diet.When I had the band I didn't tell anyone and it didn't work for me. I am afraid the sleeve wont work so I haven't told anyone because they will watch everything too. I go in tomorrow for the sleeve!

I'm so glad you guys don't have pain. I'm getting really nervous. Having it done on Monday 8/5. Long Island. Are you still in the hospital? Any last min advice?

I think its because we are drinking a lot and nothing heavy is in your stomach plus nerves. when are you having the sleeve?
