  1. I am 4 months out, down about 56 lbs and have noticed the past couple of weeks that my hips have been achy as well. Mostly when I first get up of a morning and then when I sit for long periods of time, which is a lot, since I have a desk job. I try to be as active as I can while at work, but sometimes it's just not possible..

    Im Not Special.....

I was so sure that I would be my surgeon's "poster child" for VSG, no such luck... But after my 3.5 month follow up with him yesterday, he was happy with my progress. I am down 54 lbs and a couple of sizes. I've had stalls and now the dreaded hair loss. I make sure I take my supplements and my Biotin daily. We are all special... we took the necessary steps to better ourselves! Good luck everyone!
  3. Congratulations! You look great!

    Sleep Apnea Questions

I was told I had sleep apnea during the insurance approval process. I am 3 1/2 months post op now and down 52 lbs. I was told that I didn't have to go back to the sleep apnea doctor until which ever come first; at goal weight, one year post op, or lose 100 lbs. I don't use my CPAP every night, but when I feel a little more tired than usual, I will use it.

  10. I am taking the Bariatric Advantage vitamins twice a day, a 500mg calcium chew and a sublingual B12 tablet. I will have my three month post op appt with my surgeon in early Nov. He will do blood work to check all my levels and then make adjustments if necessary.

    8 week photos

You look great! I'm about 10 weeks out, down 48 lbs. I need to upload new pics. I love buying clothes two sizes smaller than what I was wearing! Keep up the great work!
  12. I've not had any issues either. I feel bad for those who've had issues. I was the same way when I had my hysterectomy. I had no pain or issues with it either.
  13. I am an Executive Assistant for a company that owns 22 quick service restaurants in the Birmingham, AL area. I am just over two months post op and down about 50 lbs. Congratulations and best wishes to everyone on your new journey!!

    Coffee cravings!

I was told to limit my caffeine. I had my first appt with the nutritionist this week and she reviewed my food journal. She didn't say anything about my cup of coffee that have nearly everyday and is not decaf.
  16. I had my first post-op appointment with the nutritionist today. I am down 46 lbs and she was happy with my food diary and activity journal. She told me to start taking my multivitamins twice a day (one in the am, one pm) and to start taking my B12 daily instead of weekly. She said that they are seeing some sleevers with below normal levels in their bloodwork. She asked me about my protein chips and bars that I had been eating. I just happened to have my Bariatrics Choice catalog with me and I showed it to her. She was surprised that she hadn't heard of them before. I gave her my catalog and the list of my favorite items!

    Post op question about coffee

My surgeon said to limit daily caffeine. I drink at least one cup every day and just met with my nut the other day and she didn't say anything about it. I drink mine with creamer and equal. Like a few others, I have not found much that my sleeve rejects.

    It's REAL!

Congratulations and best of luck to you!
  19. I know it's hard not to be sad, but most everyone stalls at some point along the way. And besides, your body is still healing and adjusting, it is normal and will pass. I stalled for about 3 weeks, didn't lose a pound, BUT I was losing inches. For my meals: I typically drink a protein shake with skim milk in the morning on my way to work. I have a mid-morning protein bar, lunch usually varies from turkey & cheese roll ups, to leftovers, to possibly dining out. No matter which one it is, you can bet it is protein packed! I have a late afternoon snack (fruit, protein chips/bar, yogurt) and then most days I will have another protein shake after I get home. I have a 45 minute commute to and from work everyday, so it is usually after 6 pm when I get home. If I do eat instead of drinking my dinner, then it is usually something like turkey & cheese. I will from time to time have eggbeaters with cheese and lean turkey sausage crumbles as my mid-morning snack. It is only about 85 calories with 8gms of protein. My exercise is irregular at best!! I have a desk job, but do try to work in some walking throughout the day by taking the long way around to drop off stuff for others. Otherwise, weather permitting, I go walking around town. I live in a small, rural town. I've not measured the distance I walk, just the time I'm on the move, which is generally 30-50 minutes. I'll do that a few times a week. Other than that, I work out with my Wii Fit for about 30-50 minutes a couple of days a week.
