The liquid stage is very misleading as you can typically drink quite a bit more than the sleeve holds. Then comes the puree or the soft foods and you find out the actual size of the sleeve. Usually the hard way......

Is anyone experiencing difficulty eating still? It's been 6 months, my bloodwork looks good the endoscopy showed everything A-ok. The Dr. says I just have to keep taking omeprazole. Other than that, I'm supposedly good. BUT I just can't eat. If I eat too much of anything which for me too much is 3 spoonfuls of cottage cheese rather than one, I get so sick like I did in the very beginning. I know having the surgery is supposed to limit eating, but I've superseded my goal, I'm very thin I'm a size 4, I can't seem to put weight on or stop losing, it's because I still can't eat hardly anything. I'm lucky to get in 500 calories and that's if I eat chips or fries. It's like I'm scared to eat so I don't get deathly sick, but want and need to eat to have energy and function and not lose anymore weight. Also the burping, gurgling, sneezing, hic-upping is annoying it makes me miserable when I eat hardly anything. Anyone else still having this problem? Does it ever get better? Maybe after a year?

Has anyone lost friends because of your weight loss or surgery? My best friend and I have become so distant and even though she tells me it's not because of that, I know it is. I am sorry if this is too much for some of you. But I really don't have anyone else to turn to.
She and I have never seen eye to eye on health. And she also lives in complete denial about her sedentary lifestyle and overeating. While I have been overweight my entire life i have also been an overall healthy eater (as an adult, my teenage eating habits were atrocious!) and I have always been very active. But since my surgery it makes it so hard for us to spend time together. All she ever wants to do is go eat when I want to go hiking or swimming.
I am just so sad and overwhelmed that she finds ways to take jabs at me for my inability to eat too much because I don't want to spend $100 on dinner because I will never be able to eat it even if I do take it home. She has made it pretty clear it's my fault we can't spend time together anymore.
I have also gotten too frustrated to be around her. If I hear one more time about how she doesn't need to lose weight because her boyfriend loves her the way she is I might smack her. I DIDN'T HAVE SURGERY FOR ANYONE BUT ME!!! Sorry. I know I'm going on and on. Like I said, I feel like I have no where else to turn. I expected relationships to change but I genuinely shocked and saddened by what has happened with the person I used to call my best friend. I'm just lost

    * My boobs are now bigger than my belly
    * I have more clothes to donate than I have to wear
    * On that note, All of your extra money goes to clothes!
    * You spend twice as long in the dressing room because you constantly have to swap out clothes for a smaller size...your brain just can't comprehend that you are actually "that size"
    * FINALLY wearing normal size boots rather than "Wide Calf"!!
(Can anyone tell I went shopping yesterday? New boots, Size 6 Jeans [please tell me Kohl's jeans run large...I still can't comprehend this one!], new bras and a HUGE pile of clothes to donate!)

Men practically fall over themselves trying to help you with ANYTHING at the office, home depot, grocery store, you name it! Not used to the stares, smiles, and flirting. It used to make me self conscious and I would think people stared because I was chubby. Now, if a cute guy is staring at me, it takes me a second but I realize oh, he thinks I'm pretty!

So much for posting in the guy's room to avoid this sort of response. My primary question was about how others' relationships have changed. I completely disagree with your response. At the beginning I felt she was pushing me towards surgery. She doesn't think she needs it. She agreed with me that she didn't want us to be the same size and said she was going to lose weight. I have done everything I can to help her. Cooking healthy meals, making sure she has time to get away and exercise like she said she wants to. Fair or not, frustration is what I am feeling. I do feel as though frustration is a valid response. I worry about becoming bitter. I do not want to be bitter. I did not post this topic to be lectured for how I feel. I posted it because I am sure others have had relationship issues arise after surgery and hoped for input on how they handled them. I also posted this in what is supposed to be a "safe" place for men to communicate with men about such sensitive issues. I would politely ask that it be respected.

Best thing I experienced about reaching 6 months is settling down and getting used to the ups and downs of this process.
I now don't get frustrated with long lulls in weight loss or get worried over occasional cravings or desires. I don't obsess over exact calorie numbers every day. I don't feel guilty if I don't make the gym always on schedule. And guess what........I am still losing.
So Relax everyone. A few ups and downs won't derail you or cause you to fail. Allow yourself a little leeway or a treat here and there. Just remember to stay on track and concentrate on the overall effort of making permanent long term changes.
The best thing about the six months isn't the amount of weight I have lost.......It's the amount of time that has allowed me to adjust.
