Is it possible to get All the protein with out supplements?
Other countries where the sleeve has been performed for many years before the U.S. Only recommend whole foods. I don't know the specifics. I see doctors now profiting from the protein shakes, so of course they'll endorse the product. Whey protein can be found in bulk and much cheaper than the costly pre-flavored packages. I wish I would have know that before I bought the darn things. I spent a small fortune getting prepped for the liquid diet pre and post op.

Feeling ill
Ensure you're getting all your nutrition and water in. Call your doctor if it persists before it becomes serious.

Feeling discouraged
Our thoughts are very powerful. It's super important to take time to focus on what you're grateful for and remember how far you've come. As I am reading blogs from some of the most fit people...they don't weigh, they measure. I'm in a stall right now 3 1/2 weeks out of surgery. I was weighing myself everyday. Not good! Journaling is something I use to get my thoughts out of my head. When I spend time focused on how I am feeling and where I am heading now...it helps me. I do recommend talking to an objective person too. I've hunted through this site for encouragement too. I hope I was helpful to you. Life is a reflection of our internal thoughts. Think good things. You're in control! Best wishes!!!

I am approved..December 5 surgery date
Just a tip...it made it seem so easy to get enough water down for me was to realize it's just for regular sized water bottles a day. The best practice I suggest is to train yourself to drink all through the day without gulping. Once you're sleeved, that's a no no. The chewing of the food....I count to 30. It has helped me transition into soft foods easily with no nausea. Great job on joining the exercise classes. This really is a lifestyle change for life. It's just a tool to help us be disciplined with eating, but it's still possible for us to eventually stretch our tummies out. If we change our behaviors...that's how we will be successful. Congrats on your approval! Best wishes!!!

Help!
Yes. Put it in your Protein shake. I like the PB2 peanut butter, unsweetened cocoa, unflavored protein, milk, with some ice. It's super yummy! Regular peanut butter would work too! :-)

Need words of encouragement about post op pain
I had the same thing and was so sick of it I just cried. It lasted about 2 weeks for me, which felt like forever. Pic was sick of being on pain meds that knocked me out. I saw my surgeon on a Thursday 2 weeks after surgery and was till having the radiating pain. He said it was completely normal. The next day it went away. I felt like the heavens had opened up. It was still a few days before I could sleep on my side. Hang in there....the pain will subside. It's all normal. I'm here for support! I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op. Best wishes...take care!!!

Is it possible to get All the protein with out supplements?
If you focus on animal products. Lean meats, cheeses, milk, etc... Although you can expect to be constipated. I did a few days of this, but struggled to get the calories in. I was having a gag reflex to the protein shakes flavored was too sweet and unflavored had a smell that gagged me. Trust me I tried several options. I'm back to being able to have one Protein shake a day. I try to be creative with them. I hope that was helpful.

3 weeks post-op: Pizza and Pasta?!
I met some friends at Olive Garden and did great! I chose the grilled Apricot Chicken with steamed broccoli and asparagus. I did get parmesan cheese on it. It's on their lighter side portion of their menu. I could only eat one chicken breast and some broccoli. I stopped when I knew I should. My friends were gorging themselves and I had no problem with it. I'm on a mission and on a new path. I was very aware of how much each of us were eating. What a change. I'd eat a whole basket of bread sticks dipped in Alfredo sauce, salad and a meal. Lol. Things have changed! I left proud of me and how strong I am. This sleeve has been gift!

- HELP! Denied by BCBS IL Boeing ins.
Good advice! I wasn't approved for the sleep apnea test. When I called my insurance, she recommended telling the doctor to be explicit and add as much to their notes as possible. I told my surgeon. I got approved for my Sleeve within one week. I called 3 days to see where it was in approval stage. Lol- Ok, ok how many weeks before soft food? Confused!
Good for you!- HELP! Denied by BCBS IL Boeing ins.
That should do it. I still would call your insurance company and ask what specific things would help them to approve you. Tell them you're suffering. Don't give up! I wouldn't go back to eating your way to 40 bmi as someone recommended. That's a lot of weight to put on. It sounds like you need fresh data for the insurance company. Hang in there.- What can I do?
Do what you an Havel. Everyone is different. Start with 15 minutes and if you can go further with ease....then do it. This whole process is about getting in touch with our bodies. Listening to ourselves. It's new for us. We've stuffed our feelings with food for years, most of us anyway.- HELP! Denied by BCBS IL Boeing ins.
Your insurance should have an appeal process. Call the number on the back of your card. Call your surgeons office and ask them for advisement. I thought most insurances didn't approve unless you are a 40 bmi, but I'm not an expert.- What can I do?
I was instructed to walk walk walk and more walking. Lol. No core exercises.- Water question
All I drank for theist part before surgery was water and tea. I have continued to do the same, but nooooo gulping. That is forever gone. I try to ensure I don't get to a point where I'm super thirsty. All is good though.- Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
MyFttnessPal- Ok, ok how many weeks before soft food? Confused!
I chew the heck out if the. 2 bites pure shrimp with 30 chews each bite. Yes I literally count. Lol- Ok, ok how many weeks before soft food? Confused!
I thought, just like you, wow sooo many variances. From what I've read so far is we need to be I tuned with on bodies. I've tried some stuff and it's made me gag. Others things I have to watch because they taste so good I have almost over ate, like grilled shrimp. I can eat 6, not 7. I chewed that sucker up, but it didn't go down for an hour. :-).- Four days post op
I took three weeks off, but could have taken two. However, we are all different. I will still be on light duty for lifting and I will hover that. I haven't received any negative feedback due to not going back to work yet. If i do...I realize that others opinions only define their internal thoughts and not me. Losing weight will surely make feelings arise in people who struggle with their own weight. Just smile at them and go about your business and your great health path.- Water question
Everyone is different. I am able to drink normal, but try not to gulp. The bigger the drink, the bigger the burps and sometimes tummy cramps early in the morning. I'm 3 weeks out. I was miserable when I came out of surgery. They would only let me have 2 oz of Water per hour. I asked my daughter to wet a wash cloth and I sucked the water out of it. Lol. Things got better fast though. :-). Thank God! I no longer sip! I drink like a normal person. - Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
