  1. Ok....lots of questions. I just had my appointment with my nutritionist 2 days ago. I'm Pre Op. You may want to try Soy. It sounds like you're lactose intolerant. I am too. However organize 1% I can do. You can get chewable vitamins. I have to take 1200-2000mg, of calcium citrate, vita b-12 sublingual, multi-vitamin. I also found a chewable Fiber. You may need that in the future. I take chewable vitamins C too. The best Protein Drink I've found so far is Bar-Wise. There's multiple favors and low in calories. I've been using unjury non-flavored the past couple days. I added blue berries and strawberries to it with some Stevia. In my opinion, Stevia is the healthiest sweetener out there. Made from a plant. Eating schedule..8,10,12,2,4,&6. Sip Water in between. 64oz. 4 small water bottles is an easier way to achieve it. You don't want to get dehydrated and wind up in the hospital. You can only eat about 2 oz at a time, so that why so many meals. That's been the hardest part for me. Tomorrow I'm going to start the every two hours protein drink. Lastly, Bariatric Advantage is the best protein powders I've tried so far. Orange Cream tastes like a 50/50 bar. It's all your own preference. Take care! I wish you the best! Lory
  2. I tried the Gladiator w/Mangosteen and Acai a small. It was ok. Like all other Protein drinks it has that same after taste. The best thing I have found so far is Bari Wise Fruit Drinks. 70 calories and 15g protein. I can stomach them without wanting to gag. I'm on day 5 of my Pre Op diet. I can feel the weight melting off my body. My biggest problem is getting in enough calories. I'm supposed to be at 800 to 900. I keep coming under. Good luck!!!
  3. It's good to know there are other women out there taking care of themselves. I'm 43, kids grown, and I'm finally taking care of me. It's crazy how taking time off feels so weird. 25 years of working and raising my kids.....this is awkward. My surgery isn the 28th. It can't come soon enough. :-). I wish you both the best!!!
  4. I remember Bob Greene talking about plateauing. He said right before a big weight loss sometimes the body holds on to water. In his next breath he said if that doesn't happen, then the exercise may need to be ramped up.
  5. You could give the gift of life to those who desperately desire and are willing to give a child a wonderful life. If you're not going to have kids or more kids.....I say....go for it! You deserve the fully healthy body you desire. I wish I was younger. I would do it. :-)
  6. Thank you soooo much! I'm doing everything I can to be resolute. After 5 years of debating this...I want to do this right. Thanks for the supportive message.
  7. I hope all worked out great for you! I,wish you a speedy recovery!!!:-)
  8. Well I'm always hear if you need support. Sounds like we both could use it. I went to the store today and stocked up on a bunch of sugar free Popsicles and jello. I found 45g protein whey supplement I'm going to take to my dietician tomorrow. One thing I know for sure at this point is I am in control of my actions. It's also ok to cry or feel instead of stuffing it with sweets and sugars as I've done for years. I took time off of work to get my mind ready for this huge change and I would say the biggest change in my life besides having kids. I'm here for you!:-)
  9. Ok...so I challenged my Dietician with the varying Pre-Op diets. She tells me that she just recently attended a class on the latest studies for the diet. Apparently those who do the 14 day all liquid diet have better surgery results. I didn't like that answer. I spoke to the medical assistant at my surgeons office. She said if I get super desperate to chew on something....chew on a small slice of turkey or chicken. What I am finding out about myself is.....the addiction to food has controlled me for years. This is no joke. I decided today...that I can do this and I WILL! I will get through 11 days with success. I made a choice after 5 years of deliberating doing the surgery. I am in control of me. I'm finding that I am very aware of my body and how I am feeling. I am expressing exactly how I feel and not stuffing an emotion with a bag of chips. Anyway....thanks for reading. I wish everyone their health goal dreams come true! :-)
  10. I got approved last week and my surgery got pushed from the 23rd to the 28th. :-/. Oh we'll....I'm sure ill drop,a,gang of weight on this liquid diet. Lol
  11. I just found out my surgey is pushed to the 28th instead of the 23rd. :-/. I guess I waited this long I can do another 5 days.
  12. Ok, so I had decaf today. I now have a dull headache. :-(. Ill live, but just want to get through these next few days.
  13. I wish you the best! I'm the 23rd. Ready to get this going. I felt like a poodle jumping through every hoop possible to get approved for the flipping surgery.lol
  14. Ok so I am on day two and ate some peppers for lunch. I was starving. At least it felt that way, so I caved and ate some red, orange, and yellow peppers. After I ate them, then I realized I had not taken the appetite suppressants my doc gave me. I took one immediately and it's helped my tummy not growl or feel like there's a hole in it. Tomorrow I'm starting straight out the gate! Diethylpropion works wonders. It helped me lose 20 lbs in two months just by eating less. :-). Say a prayer....this is no joke!! My positive thoughts to out for each of you!
  15. Yayyyyy! Congratulations! You're inspiring me! I just started my Pre-op liquids today. I decided to drink it out of a fancy glass. Lol
  16. Well my surgery is for the 23rd. Starting all liquids tomorrow. Coffee is the killer! I'm going to wean myself off it.
  17. I'm soon to join your journey. I gag sometimes with certain favors. I find citrus favors more tolerable. My Wellness doc sells Health Wise fruit Protein drinks with 20 grams of protein. Lemon Razzy I love. Peach Tea is ok. I did buy a NutriBullet and waiting its arrival. It blast the hell out of some fruits and veggies and makes them into pure liquid. I'm thinking I will add the flavorless protein to them. It wasn't cheap, but I figured I won't be eating meat for a while. Check it out online. The guy who represents the product wrote a book on all the Super Foods on Earth. I learned a lot. I believe this will be a healthy approach and creative approach! Of course I'm checking with my Nutritionist today about how to go about getting enough protein in. I wish you the best! Lets keep in touch. :-)
  18. I understand how you feel. It's taken me years to be ok with me regardless of my size. I'm a super fan of spending the beginning of my day journaling about how I feel and saying my positive affirmations, such as, I am beautiful inside and out. I am Pre-op 43 and confident I am on a healthy path for me. I believe you are too. Not my age though. Lol What someone thinks of you is none of your business. All that matters is what you think of you. Only you define you. However, it takes an investment everyday in you from you. You deserve it! No one can make you feel anything. You are in control of your thoughts! :-) If you see someone looking at you in a funny way....smile at them and say Hi or wave. They're only doing it because of their own self image. Smile and remember....humans are nuts!!! I'm here for you anytime! Lory
  19. Could you chew on gummy vitamins or the Bariatric Advantage Chews?
  20. I found out my insurance approved me for surgery today! Now just need my doctor to schedule it!
  21. I was terrified until I had an EGD done a couple weeks ago. The anesthesia was the best sleep I've had in years. It's super hard for me to give up control and trust. I had to say some serious prayers. Now I'm glad I got it done because now I know somewhat what I can expect for my surgery. Allembran....you'll do great! You're in my prayers. :-)
  22. Has anyone seen the new NutriBullet? Check it out online. It literally breaks down anything you put into it. They compare it to a regular blender and the blender does no where near what this little thing does. I bought it and flavorless protein. I'm going to use this for my all liquid weeks. Crossing my fingers it works. :-)
  23. That's for an overnight stay. Outpatient is non-overnight. :-). Congrats!!
