My NUT does not allow for sugar or artificial sweeteners. So that has meant no sf ice cream, sweeteners for anything. I'm 8 weeks out and I can honestly say, I don't miss sweets. I was/am a sugar addict too so to even think I wouldn't miss sweets is amazing to me. The explanation that I was given is that if I eat the artificial sweeteners my body will crave sweet and that is something they want me to refrain from ever eating again. My NUT is also very against putting those chemicals in the body, which I have to say in reading different articles of health issues, I tend to agree with now. I am doing everything they say to the letter, so no sugar in any form for me. It is just one more step to my new lifestyle.

I just did it. Have not gotten them yet but it appears to be on the up and up.

I use the Bariatric Advantage, i crush them up and mix it with 1/4c of Greek yogurt, this way my yogurt taste tropical, i get Protein and i can manage them better! Becuz they are DISGUSTING! It takes me 30 min to eat it but it works!

I use coconut oil. Got it at Ross Stores. That will help your skin. Hope this helps.

When you call UHC, say "prior authroization" at the beginning of the phone call and they will route you to the people who will know. If they're still not able to tell you anything, ask for a nurse coordinator.
Congrats!!!!! I know the feeling well! I bounce between feeling nervous and anxious. Lol. I was approved the same day my paperwork was submitted--March 29th. Just got my surgery date scheduled yesterday! Reality is creeping up on me! Good luck!
