    Cooking/Shopping for one?

haha no I wasn't insulted, and yes my freezer is spotless and has baking soda. The frozen food tasting funny isn't a new thing for me, I've been able to taste a difference pretty much my whole life.

    Cooking/Shopping for one?

I actually have a foodsaver. Even using that I find the food to have a funny taste after its frozen. Even chili. I have no problem freezing uncooked food though so individual chicken breasts is a great idea. Guess ill start there

    Smokers ?

I currently smoke, but I'm pre op and have to quit before my surgery. I have 2 close friends that had rny and both are heavy smokers. One is absolutely fine, the other has had major issues from smoking. So it depends on the person. I for one will not take the risk by smoking post op

    Protein Idea's ?

I found these awesome protein drinks. Only 2.9oz but 25g of protein and 100 cal. They actually taste pretty good too. They're made by Protica. Called Profect. I get them on Amazon.

I am sick of protein shakes!

There's a brand of protein shot called protica. 2.9oz and 25g protein. I ordered some from amazon. They haven't come yet, but several of my friends say they're actually really good
  13. it's not a diet, it's a program that helps you set goals, prepare yourself for life after surgery. They just want to see that you are committed to being able to change your lifestyle and eating habits before you get final approval.
  14. I have tufts insurance. When I was approved last week and the coach called me for my first conversation in my 6 month pre op program I asked about this. My bmi is 38 but I qualify for other medical conditions. She told me that no one has given then a definitive answer on this. It depends who she asks. So unless you get a 100% answer, you might wanna be careful not to lose too much pre op.
  15. I was under the impression that "dumping" wasn't really a side effect of the sleeve since there's no rerouting of the digestive system. Is that not true?
  16. I waited 6 weeks for approval and now I have to complete a 6 month program before my ins will pay. Hope it's not 6 years waiting for a date.

    Why you chose the sleeve

I work at a major hospital and the bariatric surgeons here will not even do a band anymore. The only bands they do are removing ones from other hospitals that don't do them well.

Dating and letting them know you had surgery

I don't think it's lying. If you didn't have wls and lost 100lbs with diet and exercise, would you have that conversation? Like I said before, if she asked I would absolutely be honest. But why should it matter to her if its in the past. Would you tell her you had your tonsils out when you were 5? It shouldn't matter.

Dating and letting them know you had surgery

As a single guy, to be honest I don't think I will be telling anyone I date post surgery that I've had WLS. It's not like I'm not telling them I have an std or something that is medically relevant to them. If I had, say... Laser eye surgery 5 years before we started dating, am I required to tell the person? It doesn't affect them in any way, shape or form. On the other hand, if they notice scars, or ask why I eat so little, then I'm not gonna lie about it either.

    P90X After Surgery...is it doable?

Sorry, I'm calling BS. There's no way possible a man of any strength at 380 lbs can do P90X and say it was easy. I've been certified by Beach Body in training and it's just not possible. You're telling me that at 380 you can do 150 pull ups easily? And the Yoga? Plyometrics? Push ups? Ab Ripper X?? Come On! I've trained other guys on it and they were all ridiculously in shape, military & body builder types and even they had a hard time. Myself at 250 had to do all of the modified work outs and even STILL it took all of 2 weeks for me to blow out my knee bad enough to require surgery, and I can bench close to 300 and leg press nearly 400lbs, so I'm considered fairly strong. So again, sorry, I'm calling BS.
