  1. 18 days Post op... Tonight we made a turkey breast. I ate 2oz of meat and 3 very small bites of mashed potato's. Is that normal? I can drink with no issue.
  2. Tonight we made a turkey breast. I hate 2oz of meat and 3 very small bites of mashed potato's. I am now 18day out. Is that normal?
  3. I went to my DR on Wednesday (1 week followup) and told him all the things I was struggling with he recommended the same thing. 1 Prilosec and a Probiotic. I have never taken a probiotic before, but could tell a difference in less than 24 hours. I am not sure if the Prilosec is doing anything, but they say it cold take a few days to start working. I started that today. Oh, and I went to a nutrition store to get the probiotic. I didn't look at the price even after I paid and today my wife asked me what I bought for $85.00. Yep, that is not a Typo. Can someone say IDIOT?
  4. I am 2 weeks out tomorrow and I could eat after 1 week (stage 3 - Soft food) I did not need to do the puree stage. Eating is difficult and you MUST chew your food well. I ate fried chicken last night, no skin or breading, and I over ate. It is a terrible feeling for about 30 min. I don't think I regret my VSG, but it is definitely difficult.
  5. Yesterday evening I started eating a cheese/meat roll and got tired of it 1/2 way though it. I kept nibbling on it till it had one bite left and fed it to the dog. That process took about 1hr. I did not like eating for an hour so decided I would try this: Whatever I do not eat in a normal amount of time I will not eat. Today I went to out to lunch and got a grilled piece of chicken and some mashed potatoes. It was a large breast so I could only eat about 1/3 of it and a couple bites of taters. When my friend was done eating I asked for a box. I did not get as much Protein as I would have if I kept eating, but this process is emotional enough and I don't want to feel weird that I am trying to clean my plate, even if it takes an hour.
  6. I always find it interesting how different Dr have different practices. My Dr said I can eat lunch meat and cheese after 1 week and anything week 4. He said my stomach is completely healed after week 5. I eat eggs, cheese, lunch meat, chicken, fish, canned Veggies... I did 1 day stage 1, 1 week stage 2, 3 weeks stage 3, then anything I want. One thing I enjoy right now are wheat thins. There is something about hearing that crunch.
  7. I can't wait to get there. I'm 12days post op and hate eating.
  8. I know it is an old post. I was reading it and like most old posts they talk about the struggle, but I like to see how people are now so I ask.
  9. I hope so. I am eating a cheese and meat roll and it is grossing me out. I don't want to eat or drink and I don't have any hunger making me want to eat. Today I ate a piece of chicken 2oz and some mashed potatoes, and the roll I mentioned. I also had a Protein shake and have another to drink. UGH, Disgusting :-) I want to go to McDonalds and eat a fatso meal and drink a coke.
  10. How much can you eat now? I am 11days and can not eat 3oz (1oz chese, 2oz turkey) without stopping an coming back to it. I can eat about 2 or the 3oz, it is so depressing.
  11. How do you feel now? I am 11 days post-op and HATE eating. It is depressing...
  12. I just started eating and nothing sits well. Nothing feels the same as it did. It is not fun and it is not enjoyable. I eat lunch meat and cheese. It takes a while and if I eat too much I get sick for about 20-30 min. You have had a tough road, I think I would try to just keep eating. Eat one slice of lunch meat. Then when you get brave try more and more. I think the stomach is like everything else on your body. If you don't use it you loose it. Have you ever seen an arm after 6 weeks in a cast? It looks terrible, skinny, no muscle, joints don't move... You are 9 weeks and have not put food on three. It is completely healed by now.
  13. I 100% agree with you on the friend thing. That is weak and shallow. I don't ever want to eat that 16oz Bone-In NY Strip again, but I would like to be able to eat 4-5 oz and some veggies... How long till you start to feel like you are eating like a human and not a weirdo?
  14. Today is day 10 Post-Op and I am feeling a bit down. I have NEVER been an emotional guy so this is strange and it is even stranger that I am throwing it out here. I can drink without issue and for that I am thankful. I am also thankful that my Dr. said I could move to stage 3 after 1 week. However, These things are getting to my head and make me HATE eating. 1) I don't like that I can not eat my full meal (3oz. of food) 2) I don't like how I feel after I eat. I don't feel the you need to stop eating felling until it is too late and then I feel there is a golf ball in my throat a) This takes me to item #1 I also have an issue with what I thought was my best friend & boss that basically dropped me and my family after WLS because we have "core differences" (he thinks I should have lost weight without WLS). I am basically dropped until I can eat a full size steak. If that is true, I am dropped forever because I don't need that in my life, but it is still real. I think I feel down because I hate to eat and I don't know how long this will be. I just want to be able to eat 4oz of meat and a few bites of veggies without being sick. have got the slimes twice and one time I thought I was under eating. Who knows.
  15. If you can forever eat what you would with the sleeve and not gave the surgery you would lose the weight the same. I tried everything and it is not sustainable long haul.
  16. I just started eating today!!! Did good till dinner. Ate too much, too fast, of both. I'm spitting slimy foamy mucous and food. I'm not happy right now!!!
  17. Thanks you everyone. It sounds like I did the correct thing. I didn't measure the food before I ate, next time, but I did stop when I first felt "uncomfortable". One thing about drinking after a meal, I did not want to drink for almost an hour. I was STUFFED!!! It is obvious I am not going to be able to get all my Protein from eating so I will drink a shake or two a day for a while.
  18. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Dave (Maj0rL0ser), Besides the cold/chest infection, my first week was great. I have NO SURGERY RELATED ISSUES and can drink liquids with no problem (16oz 15 min). I read that you are struggling with your fluids and feel for you. I hope you get to feeling better. My next task is to try and figure out how to eat again (Soft Foods Phase). I ate my first Meal Post-Op. A 20g Protein Scramble 1 egg 6g 1oz Provolone cheese 7g 1oz Boar's Head chicken 7g Feeling full is a different feeling than when I pigged out pre-op. I don't know how to tell when I am full. I quit when I ate a bite the was a little uncomfortable. I was worried about not drinking when I eat, but after eating I don't want to drink after I eat. I finished eating almost an hour ago and I may start drinking now.
  19. I ate my first Meal Post-Op. A 20g Protein Scramble 1 egg 6g 1oz Provolone cheese 7g 1oz Boar's Head chicken 7g Feeling full is a different feeling than is was when I pigged out. I don't know how to tell when I am full and don't want to over do it. I was eating (mmm so good) and had that one bite that was kinda uncomfortable, like when I drink Water too fast, so I quit. I didn't want to stop because I didn't finish it all and I wanted to get all my protein, but I was afraid to keep going. How do you know when to stop? How do you know when you are full?
  20. Surgery wise I am doing great. I can't believe I had surgery last Friday because I feel great. I went to my PCP on Monday because I was feeling terrible and it Turns out my fever was a result of an infection in my chest. I am allergic to some antibiotics (z packs) so I got a lesser one prescribed and called the dr yesterday to tell them I'm not any better. 1 week sick like a dog after surgery!!! My new $70.00 (with insurance paying their part) antibiotic started last night and today I feel like I am finally getting better. THANK GOD!!!! Morning before surgery 292.2 Morning of surgery 186.9 1 week after surgery 177.4 TOTAL -14.8 LBS
  21. Major loser That does not sound like fun!!! Is the issue that it is hard to get down or if you go to fast you spit it up?
  22. What is your current diet? How much water are you drinking per day?
