  1. Ok, I've been reading things for a few days now, and I've got another question or two for all you bandsters! First, I keep reading about when people get their fill and feeling "tight" what exactly are you saying? And secondly, when I read about people at the ends of their threads, I see where they get filled and then unfilled, then back and forth. I guess I don't understand that either?? Sorry if I sound stupid, not meant to. Im on the way to being banded, and Im just trying to find out what to expect. Thanks, in advance for any answers and advice you can offer. CJ :hungry:
  2. Ok, Im still in the pre-op stages, and trying to figure out what exactly to expect with the diet, both pre-op and post op. I have had two seperate meetings with a dietician, and in both of those meetings, she has stressed low carb and high Protein. Nothing has been said about counting calories. However, I've noticed in a few of the spots that I've visited that alot of people are. Is this something that has to be done, or is it just something people do? I would think that with the limits on the diet that the lower calories should be pretty much be the norm, unless you're eating stuff you shouldn't be eating. Am I right, and is it just the carbs and Proteins I should really worry about? Thanks! CJ
  3. Im in the process of going through all the pre-op stuff, and question myself daily. Usually, I think Im doing the right thing, but there are moments when I wonder if I can live with this decision. Im being asked to give up even more than just the food. I have been a diet dew junkie for years, and can't have that anymore. I've smoked most of my life, and they tell me I have to quit that. I know that all that isn't good for me either, but they want me to give up all of my vices at once. Seems some days that Im gonna go crazy just trying. I know it's the right thing to do, and I've got lots of support. I've kicked the diet dew for the most part, and have an appointment with my doctor to discuss some quit smoking stuff. I guess Im worried, cuz I've tried to quit smoking many times before, and failed. What happens if I can't make that hurdle? Anyone out there who smokes after the band or who gave it up before? Also, my personal doc is VERY adamentley against my having this surgery.
