I don't know either. But I hear less and less about it. Here in the LA area the billboards were everywhere which led me to get a band. Thank god mine is out and am sleeved one week out.

There were more foods I couldn't eat than could. I should have been a size 2 with the amount of food I ate with the band. Very frustrating to throw up everything for 2 years.

Speaking of Pop tarts, am i the only one that can't seem to keep them upright in the toaster? They always tip over and are a booger to get out of the slot. Nevermind, I guess that's somebody elses problem now. Carry on.

Fyi the medical community refers to "stalls" as plateaus. Health is a continuum which is neither static or chaotic. There are things we can do to move forward or go backward. That's why people ask the same questions. Its hard to scroll back through 100,000s of posts for answers. True people have a "right" to voice their opinion but there is no "right" to be rude about it - expect people to launch back. We just need to band together and when one fails we need to pick them up and carry them until they can fly solo again.

pureed foods are blenderized foods similiar to baby food consistency or pudding consistency. Hopefully I get to start this stage this week at my post op appt. And I agree, this is a very nice thread going!

I disagree, this is a place for us to vent and ask questions. ive been on here for 10 months and i see the same questions by differant people who had surgery way after me and you know what i just dont read it, someone else who is either new or can relate to that person will respond. we have to keep in mind its a cyber world and we have people that didnt get instructions or dont have support like some of us, ive read where people live almost in the middle of no where and have no one to talk to, we are all post and pre patients and are individual. some people just need you to hold there hand, and some are strong like yourself, dont have people afraid to post on here and ask a question, you might be tired of the same questions but there is someone out there that isnt.

Your body won't let any fluids or fat go if it thinks its starving or dehydrated. I gained 4 pounds post surgery without having anything oral for 6 days due to this fact. Once you increase your intake you will begin losing because your body will be ok with it. Hang in there!

I make my own creamy Soup by boiling peeled potatoes and mashing them, adding Water and a tiny pat of butter. Goes down better than anything else. Having problems with the Protein Shakes any kind gags me. My baby tummy doesn't like it. I'm postop day 8 and lost 13 pounds. 7 the week before surgery and 6 since surgery. I also add mio to my water, up to 40 ounces daily now. Its a work in progress for sure.

I don't agree. The warnings and experiences of others have helped me shape my behavior for success. I am sure I avoided an ER visit of dehydration, since I did not want to intake anything after surgery. But others gave warnings to drink a lot of fluids and keep Protein going. I also saw question pre op that I went in to my doc and asked but did not think to ask them otherwise. The info of what to eat and portions is great for me. I also don't have a nutritionist that spends "quality" time on me. She drops some info. and I find there is a lot of gaps I have to fill in myself. I find that we all need help in so many ways, if only to validate ourselves and though it may be repetitive to some after long exposure on this site, it is new to many daily that are trying to make a huge informed decision.

Yep, I did. And was not happy with it. I began at 496lbs and am 5'10". I never imagined I would ever come close to 250, let alone where I am now. I was very fortunate and was down to 200lb at one year post op. I became so fixated on getting to a "normal" BMI, which for me would be 174lbs, that I just kept doing the things I had been to lose. I got down to 177. Woo Hoo me, right? Nope. I felt like crap, my joints hurt when jarred (like jumping down from a ladder) and I did not like how I looked, my face was way too thin for my comfort. My body fat was less than 9% which, per my DR was too low. So for the first time in my life I made a conscientious decision to gain weight. (How crazy is that!) I am now living my life in the weight range between 185 and 195 with a body fat between 12-14%. I feel great, look relatively good and can do all the activities at the level I want at this weight range. Can one lose too much? I believe they can. I do think that each individual needs to make the determination of their ideal weight range is based on their lifestyle and it should not be based on charts or what is "normal".
