  1. Can you give us some examples, Lynda?
  2. (rant alert!) CARBS ARE NOT THE DEVIL! (Thanks for nothing, Dr. Atkins.) Beans do not include simple or lipogenic (fat-forming) carbohydrates like, say, high fructose corn syrup does. Your body NEEDS the three macronutrients of fat, carbohydrate, and Protein to continue catalyzing reactions that keep it functioning. However, you must educate yourself in the various types of carbs so you can read nutrition information/labels critically. That being said, your first priority (as well as mine) should be on acquiring adequate protein. Beans are such an excellent source of protein, I doubt you have anything to worry about as far as filling up with carbs before meeting your protein quota.
  3. (smartass alert!) You AND your daughter are beautiful, but I thought we were going to see before and after pics.
  4. This is very inspiring to me as our stats and goals are almost the same! My DOS weight was 209 and I'll be officially "overweight" at 167. Do you have any tips? I can't "weight" to be "over" this hump like you!
  5. My therapist said the same thing to me two weeks before my surgery. At our next session I confronted her about how much this bothered me. I had thoroughly done my research, been through four months of residential treatment for binge eating disorder, and my mindset was the best it had ever been. My body just kept gaining weight. I knew I was ready and would have had the procedure the day I learned about it if I could have! She was convinced that because of my history of emotional eating I would fail. I told her that her statement made me feel judged and gave me the impression that she either didn't understand me or didn't believe me when I said I knew there was much work ahead. I then proceeded to elaborate all the work that was ahead and my willingness to do it, clarifying that I understood the sleeve is a tool not a solution. By the end of the session, she took back what she had said. She was one of only six people I told before having the surgery. Despite her retraction, it was devastating to hear her say that to me in the first place.
  6. Why does every member profile read "_________ has not entered any information about themselves yet," no matter how much info the person has entered?
  7. I didn't think we were supposed to drive for two weeks after.
  8. You forgot "Illan" (the name most people would use in a search for him, I'm assuming), so I tried to fix it. Now it's gone.
  9. I swore to myself I wouldn't be one of those posters who whines about ONLY losing ______ pounds. "I lost 52 pounds the first two months, but only 12 this month. I was really hoping to weigh less than my cat by now. " Well, I'm whining. It's a week after surgery and I've lost 2 pounds. While I'm sure this is not uncommon, I can't seem to find any supporting evidence to that end. Stalls seem to make their first appearance, for the most part, in the second and third weeks after surgery. Also, I'm full of gas. More gas than I had two days after surgery. I can't seem to take a sip of anything without swallowing three times as much air. And it won't come out. If I tied a basket to my feet, I could probably give balloon rides over the breathtaking Oregon coast (note to self: possible future career?). I'm just crabby. Nothing's working the way it should and everyone else is to blame. I keep having these practice confrontations with make-believe opponents in which I am angrily defending myself in imaginary scenarios. These things that haven't happened are making me very upset. And my mom moved my $h!t around while I was in Mexico. And did my laundry (which was a very nice thing to do, but also implies my incompetence, right?). And bought the wrong kind of yogurt. And I don't want to take Anatomy and Physiology from that @$$ho!e who won't let me change lab times, even though my schedule only permits me to take the online class but not the online class's lab. Oh, it's my responsibility to free my schedule up so you don't have to deal with the grading "nightmare", as you put it, of dealing with students in labs they aren't registered for? I suppose I should apologize for being the ONE student at Southwestern Oregon Community College who's ever gone for her second Master's? (statistic not confirmed) Really, Mr. "I don't even have a Master's! Just a Bachelor's in Biology and a f**king chiropractic certificate"!!! SERIOUSLY???? Maybe I just won't become a nurse practitioner. That'll show him. And this website won't even let me curse. I have to use fµck¡n8 §Ymb@[$!!! First Amendment, anyone? And my dog is stinky.
  10. That's pretty remarkable. Thank you for posting. I also think it's worth checking out the link to the right of Emma Hack's new nude body painting series (she did the body painting in Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" video) depicting beautiful, REAL women.
  11. How exciting! Congratulations!
  12. Glad to hear things are going so well for you!
  13. Thanks, OP! I'm looking forward to trying these as soon as I'm able to eat solids!
  14. Not if you don't feel like doing it - then it's just a labor.
  15. What a victory - good for you! You also have a special victory in your supportive family. Your boys cheering you on through a workout is so sweet it brings tears to my eyes. Keep jogging your way to onederland!
  16. Sounds like a selfish bastard who wants you to stay fat for his sake. You were probably much easier to control that way. I sympathize with you and don't mean to belittle your relationship, but his behavior is inexcusable and you have no obligation to put up with it. There are worse fates than divorce.
  17. Thank you for posting this, Ellie! I just ordered mine!
  18. I'm alone in MX as I type! Had the surgery Saturday, July 13 w/ Dr. Illan at florence Hospital, now recuperating at Hotel Lucerna. I must say, it's been WONDERFUL. No one else to worry about, a hotel room all to myself, and I can fart as loud as necessary (and boy, is it necessary!) and don't have to apologize to anyone. I don't know who your surgeon is, but if you're with Dr. Illan, Omar with make sure your every need is met and you won't have time to feel anxious or scared.
  19. Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I have decided to go ahead and take my new one with me.
  20. I have a new MacBook Pro that I want to take with me to TJ, but my mom is really worried about it getting stolen at the hotel (I am going alone). I could take my old MacBook, but it weighs twice as much and the Skype on it sucks. Were any of you worried about your laptops at the hotel or hospital?
  21. Dr. Jalil Illan Fraijo. I am using a new MacBook Pro.
  22. Me, me me! Surgery with Illan at Florence Hospital July 13-15, then the Lucerna hotel until the 17th.
  23. Me too! I've tried three times. How do we notify a tech person???
