    grocery shopping...

I buy already cooked turkey meatballs, a package of pepperoni, a jar of bolognese sauce, some ricotta, and some mozzarella. You can make a really quick Italian meal- throw a meatball or some pepperoni in a small bowl, cover is with a little ricotta and some mozzarella, then mix in a half or quarter cup of the sauce. Nuke it for 45 seconds and you have instant Italian deliciousness. I've also been eating a lot of pulled pork with just enough BBQ sauce for taste. It goes down easy and has tons of protien. Greek yoghurt is good too (though I like mine flavored so I only have one a day because of the carb count). Oinkos has a key lime pie flavor that is the BOMB- tastes just like key lime pie filling! I also do my protien shakes with almond milk which has almost no carbs (compared with milk which has a lot). Atkins also makes some good protien bars- one is delicious chocolate Peanut Butter and has 17g of protien and only 2 or 3 net carbs. I also recommend getting some crystal light powder if you get tired of plain Water. That's all I can think of for now! Good luck!

    Chew your food

I am 6 weeks out and am doing very well with soft meats- meatloaf, taco meat, salmon, and pulled pork. The place I get my pulled pork makes it very soft. Goes down easy. But yesterday I decided to try a new BBQ spot. This pork had crispy ends to the shreds of pork. And those crispy, hardened ends almost killed me. Last night was the first time I'd ever gotten sick. I felt so awful beforehand for about 40 minutes that I decided I should be sick. It felt like my lower esophagus/upper stomach was getting torn up. Well, all I can tell you from that ordeal is to chew your food well. Break it down thoroughly before you swallow. Anyone else want to tell their first experience of having an ordeal with food post-op?

    june 2013 sleevers!

I was sleeved on June 17 and have lost 35lbs. since my surgery. But over the past 5-6 days I've lost nothing. Has anyone seen an increase in appetite since they have healed? I find myself thinking about food every couple hours. Not that I can take in that much, but the sensuality of food remains. And sometimes it's confusing to tell whether your body is hungry or if your mind is wanting to taste something yummy. I hope my weightloss starts back up as I begin to add real exercise into my daily routine.
  4. I'm 3 weeks out and have developed abdominal pain that comes and goes throughout the day. It's even worse at night. I can't find a pattern around it- I get it whether I've eaten or my stomach is full. It feels like someone has punched me square in the stomach. I'm seeing my doctor today but I am guessing they won't know what it is. Has anyone else had pain 3 weeks out? And my gall bladder was removed 5 years ago.
  5. I'm 3 weeks (to the day) post-op and having some abdominal pain. Mostly just a tight, dull pain right in the center of my abdomen a few inches above my belly button. Feels like the top of my stomach is a little pressured. Anyone else have this at 3 weeks? I'm hoping it goes away soon. I'd be happy and content if I could just get rid of these last few pains. It seems slightly exacerbated when I lay on my side (especially my left side) like a weight attached to my innerds pulling on them. I can still eat but sometimes the pain gets a little worse after meals. Anyone else felt like this? Is it just normal healing? Thanks for any insight.

    Cottage Cheese is King

I wouldn't call it bland. It's creamy and tangy, a little like feta cheese. I tend to eat it with black pepper. I think it's absolutely delicious. And you're on the right track- it's a little like sour cream or yoghurt but a little more cheese-y.
  7. I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op. and cottage cheese is saving my life. I have it alone, mix it with refried or black Beans, mix it with chili, etc. it has almost no carbs and 13 grams of protien per 1/2 cup! I got so sick of the sweet flavors or protien shakes (vanilla, choc., cookies&cream, etc) that savory foods have really made me happy. And I feel more energy getting my protien from real food instead of liquid.
