  1. Congrats to all you Feb sleevers! Sleeved October 7, 2014 and down over 95 pounds since day of sleeve! Keep a positive attitude and keep up all the great work!!
  2. It's a straw, but it's not. I am told not to drink from a straw, and my program has everyone get these. They prevent any air from getting in (which is why we are told not to use straws). It is highly effective and I swear by it. Very good investment. Every bariatric patient should have one
  3. Cher I am four months post op and I had the sleeve, best decision I have ever made! I was doubtful when it came to the insurance approving me but it all worked out! What insurance do you have? Since surgery I have felt amazing! Off all my blood pressure and cholesterol meds, no more sleep apnea, back pain is significantly better, my every is better, breathing, everything! This will be an amazing life changing decision. No regrets here what so ever!
  4. Welcome Cher!!! What surgery are you looking into getting? Where abouts are you located?
  5. Tuna, Fish, Eggs, Corned Beef and Hash, Shakes obviously, peanuts (don't have them everyday). Tuna is my big one, they make so many different ones and different kinds it just doesn't get boring and very, very high in protein.
  6. Def stay away from the potatoes lol. I did am corned beef and hash when I was on soft, as well as milk with Ovaltine, muscle milk lactose free, eggs with a dab of salsa, and tuna. Their are SO MANY kinds of tuna, spicey Thai tuna I still do and love. I was sleeved four months ago and down over 95 pounds since say of sleeve.
  7. My hubby got me my fave box of chocolates which I treat myself to one every other day and a very nice card with a gift card in it. I had a glass of milk with Ovaltine for dinner and made him two beautiful lobsters, fett Alfredo with brocolli, rice, salad and home made bread. Yeah, he's a eater. Lol. Pic of dinner. Missing the second lobster because at this point I was still in kitchen slaving lol
  8. Awesome!! Big congrats to you! Keep up the awesome work!!!!
  9. I am four months out and my husband got me my favorite chocolates even though I said I didn't want any. When I thought about it I realized he did it out of the kindness of his heart and also knowing I could 'treat' myself over time. So I gladly had one and had another one tonight. A chocolate here and there won't hurt, it's abusing the chocolate, or letting the chocolate abuse you lol.
  10. I'm a male with short hair and am four months out and have run into this problem. I use biotin Nd never thought at age 28 I'd be using sprays to cover up missing spots. Little by little over the past couple weeks it SEEMS to be getting better.
  11. You look amazing! Great job! :-)
  12. So glad your home Brick! Oh so glad! Was wondering the the h$ll happened to you! I missed my Brick!!! Lol. Xoxo
  13. That's great! An evening full of new, exciting fun. Have me an idea!
  14. How did your date night go?
  15. I am a 28year old male and I am four months post op, down over 95 pounds since surgery date. I had a stroke a few years ago which effected my left leg and have me severe mobility issues. Following the surgery I am now more active, able to be active and not out of breath, able to move more freely, I'm off all my blood pressure and cholesterol medications as well as one seizure med, and feel amazing. You have no clue what the difference is until you have the surgery and I never thought I could or would ever feel this good. I am not able to love a 'normal' life and feel amazing. I hope this helped :-)
  16. I am lactose intolerant and I have use Lactaid Milk with a scoop of Ovaltine to get some of my protein in. She shakes, it is Laxtose Free Muscle Milk, or I mix VI Protein Powder with my Milk and Ovaltine.
  17. Get this bottle called a Camelbak, it is EXTREAMLY effective for bariatric patients and it just looks like a regular water bottle, they come in many colors. You can get them online, just google Camelbak Bottle. They are very effective and they prevent any air from entering when drinking and also make it so your sips are controlled. It is EXTREAMLY effective!
  18. Oh my god Brick I'm soooooo sorry! This is awful! Are you feeling a lot better? Anything in perticiular that effected it? This is just so crappy to go through right after just having the bariatric surgery. Jeeze. Well, make up for Valentines Day you didn't get to have! Well recover first then make up for it! Lol. So glad you are now in the comfort of your own home! Please keep me posted
  19. Glad your feeling a little better! I LOVED my recliner. Try putting two or three pillows behind you in bed and then tuck one in on each side. Food has a whole new meaning after surgery...meaningless lol. Well for me it did, ppl differ though I guess. I was off pain meds a couple days after being home ( I was in hospital though for four days, not one). After a couple days of being home I didn't feel the need for them until maybe a week after then when my side was bothering me. Took them for two days at that point. Your left side bothering you is normal, as when they do it they move a lot on that side and flip your liver. That discomfort lasted about two to three weeks, it was discomfort, not pain. Glad you have a supportive boyfriend, my husband (gay marriage is legal here in NY) was not supportive so I had the support of my best friend who also had the sleeve, and a husband who put on a last min act like he gave a crap lol. Thanks for the updates!!
  20. I had this experience for about a week. My temp what up and down, if it gets higher you want to call your surgeon just so they know to play it safe. The discomfort and sharp pains were common for me for about a week. When I slept I would put a pillow on each side on me, and kind of tuck them in. For me, my recliner was my best friend lol. Remember to sip and walk :-) Keeping up with those are key to quicker recovery and healing time! Thanks for the updates
  21. Yay! Home! In the comfort of your own home and bed! Recover quick! :-)
  22. Anxiety prior to leaving hospital was my experience to. I was nervous about new pains and discomfort and so on. Anxious without reason. Once your home in your own bed, recliner, where ever you will feel like you have more control of the situation. The hospital ness they use shouldn't even be legal! Mine was just awful as well. It felt like heaven the day I got home and sat in my recliner and layer in my own bed :-)
  23. Shell~ I was sleeved four months ago and prior to my sleeve for many years and still do I have severe anxiety and I take Xanex 2mg three times a days. My anxiety is severe. My WORST fear is dying as well as cancer, which in many cases obviously leads to death. Prior to surgery I was very, very, very anxious and my anxiety was up there. After surgery, while still in hospital I kind of laughed at myself at worrying the way I did. Compared to my worries and anxiety it was cake. I put myself through anxiety hell for no reason, truly. Following surgery the emotional changes have been differcult but nothing as I expected. Once I hit month two I was pretty much good. I've noticed following the surgery I face changes, but they honestly don't seem to be emotional changes as I expected, and I don't find them overwhelming as I definitly expected. Yes, challenges such as am I eating the right thing, did I drink enough Water, do I go to dinner with friends, if I eat this and sneak it in with it hurt me, did I take the meds exactly as prescribed, am I doing this right, am I doing that right, and so on. I am rambling on so I will stop, hopefully this helped a little. I have attached a before and after pic. I take a pic every week and put it in my scrapbook to motivate myself and show myself I can do it! I can! I can! I am down over 95 pounds since date of surgery four months ago. Please keep is posted.
