Ok, I haven't been sleeved yet, but I see those types of posts constantly. Constantly. This DOES need to be "stickied" or something because this is something that happens every day. Sometimes I'll read that someone a month out is worried because they were able to eat half a jr burger and think they may have done something wrong and tons of others are saying "just get back on the wagon" and I guess I'm the only b***h reading it because all I'm thinking is WHY THE f**k ARE YOU EATING A BURGER???
I don't come here to be coddled. I want the truth. Black and white. If I EVER eat some crap I shouldn't or do something stupid that will endanger me or my chances at weight loss I hope someone slaps me upside the head, not tell me it's ok because "everyone" does it.

Both my husband and I just got approved for December 13! Joy!!

I got my approval!!! Dec 13 baby ! Woohoo!

I finally got my approval, yeah! They took the whole fifteen days. Now I have to wait for my doctors office:(. Hang in there ladies!

BCBS Approved my surgery yay! No surgery date yet.

I'm have surgery date of Dec. 11, 2013. With my daughter Denise.

I have been been approved and set a date of December 17th!!!! SOOOO excited!!

Hi all!
I WAS APPROVED BY INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First submission, and it was approved a week later. I called every day! Now just waiting for the hospital scheduler to call and set up my surgery date, and get my pre-op labs taken care of! SO EXCITED TO BE SLEEVED IN 2013!
I'm still not sure of I'm a Nov or Dec sleeve date, but 90% sure Dec. I'm so excited. I've been considering WLS seriously for 8 years! I've tried all I could on my own, and I'm done struggling. It's time to live a new life. Glad to be here, and would love to be added to the Facebook group: lissavsg@gmail.com.

Happy Halloween ...more importantly to me, today is the day of my bariatric review board meeting. Everything gets submitted to insurance tomorrow. All preop appointments are scheduled. Fingers crossed and wish me luck!

Wow! This group has grown! As for my update, my endoscopy was easy and painless. That was the last of my requirements! Next up...submitting paperwork to my insurance company. I am in the home stretch. Surgery is still set for Dec. 18th.

Hi everyone! I'm Michele from Pennsylvania. My husband and I are both having surgery Friday December 13 ( thank heaven I'm not superstitious ) insurance gods permitting. We've done our entire 6 month program together so it's been pretty awesome. I tease the med people that we're their BOGO.
He has a lot of med problems that we're hoping will be corrected by surgery. Hes the former great condition athletic type that gained a lot when he stopped playing sports. I'm the short- always- been heavy girl who would strictly diet, get easily discouraged by minimal loss, eat, regain etc etc. Anyway- -we have ultrasound and endoscopy to go. 2 week lc diet to start black Friday and that'll be it! Nice meeting you all and best wishes! Stay strong!

No one will condone it - 'cause you know you're not supposed to. But, its a very minor slip and as long as you aren't making a habit of it, you should be fine.

Use this as an opportunity to be creative. If you tell someone you are having surgery and they press you for details, here are some optional one-liners that will probably end the conversation:
1. I'm completing my gender reassignment surgery.
2. It's less of a surgery and more of an electric shock therapy procedure.
3. Don't tell anyone, but I have a HUGE hemorrhoid.
4. Well, I think if I increase my breast size, my butt will look smaller. What do you think?
5. Here let me show you these bumps on my crotch area and you tell me what you think they could be....
6. (And my personal favorite because it was the truth in my case) I'm going to have 85% of my stomach removed in Tijuana.
In all seriousness, it's no one's business and I don't think you have to lie about it, but you sure don't have to tell if you don't want to.

People shouldn't be asking about my personal medical procedures, so I shouldn't have to "lie" about anything. I didn't tell anyone, aside from husband, and 10+ months later it's still that way. It's no one's business. I think the real issue here is that we are considered the "liars" for not divulging our surgical plans, while the person who asks us about them is not scrutinized in the least. It's so not an appropriate thing to ask! They are the ones out of line, not us!
I also want to address a common statement I see on posts like these. Those who feel comfortable telling everyone, say they do it because they're not ashamed. I don't share because I'm ashamed. I'm just a private person.

I guess when December gets closer we will be more excited. To me right now it just feels like the waiting game. When I actually see an approved paper. Then I will believe it's real .

I am scheduled for Dec 9th. I'm so excited to finally get this started. I had Lapband Jan 2009. I lost almost 90 pounds then had a slip and revision surgery in May 2010. Then I started having problems again and had it removed in March 2012. I've since gained all the weight back that I previously lost (that has been pretty devastating!). I can't wait to get on the losing track again.
